What kind of connector do I need to plug into this speaker? Is this the right one?
Clearly not.
>>28118557Looks like an OEM speaker that uses OEM style plugs, so no, those are not the right ones. Unless you splice on the plug from whatever car this speaker is from, you'll likely never get the correct one. Or I suppose you could try jamming the copper wire into the female terminals and "pot" the plug with resin, leaving some wire hanging out for you to add what ever terminals you want.
>>28118624I have a new idea which is to put the speaker wires into a spade disconnect connector and use that to make the connection rather than this plug. Think that's a good idea?
>>28118670Oh I'm a twat, I didn't see the wires leading from the speaker to the plug. Yeah, that's a perfectly fine idea and would work no problem.
>>28118557what brand of car ?every brand seems to use a different kind>>28118670sounds ok, just make sure the wire has some strain relief. I've had some trouble with vibes messing up solder joints
>>281186821997 Toyota tercelI don't have a solder gun so probably gonna use one of these
>>28118682Those female connectors look a lot like crimp disconnect connectors anyway, i wonder if i can just find a small enough one that would fit
>>28118689The "correct" way is to crimp them with an open barrel splice like pic rel. No solder to fracture from vibration, and no heat needed. Plenty of people use solder with no issues, but a properly performed crimp is far more reliable in theory, and also easier.
>>28118557In cases like this, sometimes a quick junkyard-run is your best option. Cut the leads off a similar make/model, solder them on to your wires and you can remove these if you ever have to do work, to the door or package tray, or wherever they're mounted.
love you guys
>>28118692I wonder if a 2.2 mm spade connector would jam right onto the tabs on the inside of the Toyota connector
>>28118557That is normalass looking Toyota shit you can rip offf from the junkyard.
