just bought a vehicle with super spongy brakes. Thought maybe there was air in the brake line so bled them out but no air bubbles or anything noticeable. Then replaced master cylinder cuz thought maybe seals are bad, etc. Still the brakes are spongy but firm up a little after the first press. Any thoughts?
>>28120631Does it have abs, could be air trapped in the abs module. Might also need to bench bleed the master cylinder.
>>28120631Also depending on the vehicle if ABS needs to be bleed you may need a scan tool with the ABS bleed function to do it right.
>>28120631I've had several cars come in with a spongy brake pedal that never gets better even bleeding the crap out of it, replacing the master and booster, bleeding the crap out of it some more, using a scan tool to ABS bleed it, and finally the fix was to replace the ABS hydraulic unit.
>>28120636This. Also, some cars require the rear brakes to be bled with the rear of the car in the air at a specific angle.
>>28121006>>28120644Good godEven my c4 (rube goldberg 90's shit-tronics) doesn't require this nonsenseWhat the fuck are manufacturers doing?
