Opinions on facelift MK VII Golf R for a daily?
Looking for a fun and practical daily.
I heard it makes a really good daily, but also heard it's pretty underwhelming despite the brochure looking impressive.

Not exactly what you are describing but I have a mk7 gti and can confirm it is a very fun daily
I've heard from people that the R is less fun to drive. I haven't been in one so I couldn't tell you if that's true or not.

Get the GTI for DD

Every single R owner I see looks miserable as fuck. Maybe their wife is at home getting fucked. Maybe they're salty because they spent $50k on a VW. I dunno.

Nasically this. The R is the awd number cruncher but is very anodyne and more boring once toy get over the 0-60 time the GTI is the overall better drive despite giving away a bit of power because it's lighter and feels faster in gear. Still a 6 second 0-60 150mph car though. Also, Mark 7.5 is looked back upon as the pinnacle of Golf before it got pozzed.
