Will cars as hobby ever recover? It's insane how the interest is dwindling
>>28831378>decline starts in 2016thank the /pol/tard election tourists I guess
post the graph for 4chan traffic as a whole.
it'll just go the way of horses or model trains
>>28831378Any ideas on the spike in 2021?My first thought was cybercuck, but that was about 12 months later
>>28831388Anon that was corinna time when everyone wanted out and needed a car
>>28831378>Will cars as hobby ever recover? Not until there are inexpensive fun cars again. A BRZ with 163k miles and a $10,000 price tag isn't enticing to young people. Because of that you end up with idiots buying used corvettes, chargers, and mustangs on 12 year loans
>>28831390right, I forgot everyone sat around at home for a few months
>>28831378I'm glad 4chan is become a small sect again. Epstein-created MAGA truly wrecked this board.
>>28831405True.Ghillane had reddit.Epstien had 4chan.Musk has Twitter.Zuck has facebook/ig/snap/meta.We all been drinking from the same river of information, but it's been poisoned upstream by their organization. Not bound to any nation or code. Just psychopaths all leveraging each other to pursue their evil desires.
>>28831384He won't do that because it'll show that he's trying to mislead you.
>>28831410Very true, sister. Car hobby is on the rise!
Politicians are doing everything possible to make car ownership as painful as possible. Car as a hobby became almost impossible for millions at least in Europe. >>28831405The biggest difference is that back then we had way more quality posters. So now there's a ton of shit AND barely any activity anymore.
>>28831540The obvious solution is to ban phoneposters and politics, but rapeape and gookmoot would never do that. Imageboards need to go back cater to hobby-tards.
The 2021 spike was not because Covid19 lockdowns were in 2020 and most people had sex while they were stuck at home and 9 months later they needed a family car to transport their new baby to daycare. It was definitely because Max Verstappen won his 1st championship for Red Bull in 2021. That was it.
>>28831540I think the quality of /o/ is fairly good still.
>>28831554Thanx. I think you're fairly good too. xD
>>28831378Toyota is making movies. Chevy is dumping a lot of money into autosports.Subaru is dumping the boxter engine
>>28831656>Subaru is dumping the boxter engine??
>>28831709https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/a69952117/subaru-flat-six-race-motor-2026/Toyota killed the Supra to allow Subaru to have the 6cyl RWD sports car slot. In exchange Subaru killed the boxter 4cyl BRZ so Toyota/Mazda can have the 4cyl RWD sports car slot.
>>28831378It's because everyone is fucking broke. I make six figures and I can't comfortably afford a fun, weekend car. I don't know how people are even keeping food in their fridge these days.>>28831388It's covid bucks.
>>28831742>>28831656>mfw we found a legit dumb guy
>>28831748You realize this is all confirmed info right?
>>28831750NTA. It's how you presented it as "Subaru is dumping the boxer engine" when the "new" 6-cyl for the race car you linked is a boxer. Them killing the nu-86 doesn't mean they're going to slap in lines in all of their cars all of a sudden.
>>28831378When it comes to driving you can get fined for almost anything these days. It's like a minefield.
less young people getting licenses because of rideshare
It's declining in general because of the economy, but this board declining is because it sucks ass and is filled with idiots that have zero presence in motorsport plus the new captcha is aids.
>>28831786>the new captcha is aidsliterally an iq test
>>28831787An 80iq test? It's not difficult it's time consuming.
>>28831792If it takes you more than 5 seconds you're definitely in the double digits
>>28831793Officially tested at 137, keep coping notracker.
It only vaguely looks like the spatial reasoning parts of an IQ test, but it's not one.>>28831792It's less time consuming than any previous captchas, I like it.
Posting is pretty comfy
>>28831795then I don't understand how it could possibly take you longer than the old captcha
>>28831796Are you on linux/bsd? I only get two questions on bsd, but 3 on Windows and it never gives me not required. In any case, like I said, it being difficult is not the issue - it objectively takes more time than the old one.And it's not the issue with the board being full of busriders and people that should be on /g/ or /n/.
>>28831795oh you
>>28831807No, Win11 and Android, no vpn. I get one single "pick the dissimilar image" then my next post or two don't require verification again.I guess it would be annoying if you have to do 3 of em every time.
>>28831378>new generation is into EVs>comes to >>>/o/>filled with gate keeping luddites>they go to other places like tiktok or whatever for car hobby discussion>remaining boomer posters die off in rube goldherg machine fires>"huh, why is this site dying? It must be the entire hobby that's going away!"
>>28831837You battery fags have many echo chambers on the web to jerk each other off in while talking about screen UIs and other non-driving-related consumerist details.>"It's the future because I said so!"Reality doesn't work like that. The future is a blank void.
>>28831837>EVs popular in cold places>Barely a thing in warm places.I will interpret this data as such, cold places cannot enjoy cars anyway so they just buy electric. Warm places can enjoy cars so they stick to petrol.
>>28831848You trying to imply a real sports car is faster than a grocery getter?
>>28831378Literally my sex life. Getting old sucks balls.t. would suck balls (no homo)
>>28831792>It's not difficult it's time consuming.Takes me less time than typing shit plus in most cases it's not even required. Best captcha so far.
>>28831872I have to wait 120 seconds before every post with the new captcha Reeeee my email is verified
>>28831378Posting on this shit-board? Meaningless.
>interest is dwindlingGood, less Latinxs showing up and ruining events.
>>28831932At this rate the Latinos will be the very last left caring about car hobbies
>>28831837I love how those percentages directly correlate to how white a country is.
>>28831965Yeah only 2% whites left in Norway
>>28831972Cope, Pablo.
>>28831965It correlates to socialist government practices. In Norway if you buy an ICE car you can expect to pay double (or more) the cost of the car in fees and taxes alone while EVs are subsidized.
>>28831980No it doesn't. Spain is more socialist than Sweden.
>>28831981Does Spain charge you USD$100k to buy a base model civic?
>>288313782014-2018 was high because it was the era of shitposters
>>28832033shitposting in a timeless classic
>>28831837Croatia trve aryans
>>28831378>2021 spikeall me because that's when i lost my licence so i spent all day shitposting on 4channel
>>28831742nigga you are genuinely retardedI suggest you lurk for 2 more years before making another post
>>28831378>Will cars as hobby ever recover? No, youtube and the internet in general ruined the value of used cars by inflating them to absurd levels, and then general inflation did the rest. It's extremely hard for a young person who doesn't immediately get a 100k job out of college to think about cars as anything other than transportation from point A to B. If "cars as a hobby" does come back in the next 10 to 20 years, it won't be focused around performance and racing, it will primarily about appearance and paintjobs. When the default car for normies is an EV that does 0-60 in under 5 seconds hardly anyone will actually care about performance and handling. The lack of interest in cars from zoomers is just the canary in the coalmine. The personal automobile is basically what the horse was 100 years ago. They'll probably continued to be portrayed in cool ways in movies and other media for a few more decades, but in terms of being important to the average person, that time is waning. Enjoy it while it lasts. The good news is that eventually, especially once boomers die off en masse, the cost of classic cars will plummet. Cars from the 1950s are already getting really cheap. 60s muscle cars will get super cheap in the next 20 years. Our only saving grace will be if 3D printing technology fully matures, and we'll be able to cheaply manufacture parts for cars. If that never happens, then yeah the hobby will be completely dead except among the rich
>>28832161Also why get a car when you can get an electric scooter or bike that works just as you well, costs 40 times less, and requires no permit or license?
>>28832289pretty much this yeah. For urban dwellers, scooters and e-bikes make so much more sense for basic transport. Plus, Waymos have existed for like 5 years now. Within another 5 or 10 years, self-driving vehicles will be completely normal. Once that happens, a lot of people will probably choose to just have an e-bike or scooter and then call up a self-driving taxi like a waymo when they need a car to transport or a group or to get groceries or something.
>>288321613D printing will mature but it won't be cheap.
>>28832289>>28832334The car has the distinct advantage of having a roof. That fundementally seperates the scooter and the econobox market. Nobody that's looking to get an econobox is considering saving money by getting rid of the roof. The next tier up from the scooter are the things like citroen ami, fiat 500 or smart electric cars. Problem with these are the highway capability. It's not even a battery issue, but an issue inherent to short wheelbase. They also compete in price with petrol shitboxes. Urban dweller will say "just in case" and go for the shitbox sedan instead of electric. To get the highway capability from electric cars, you need something like a tesla, which is significantly more expensive than a shitbox. It's in an entirely different market.
>>28832289>requires no permit or license?this 100% will not last btw
>>28831378While cars are white goods only people old enough to remember good cars will be interested.
>>28831378>Will cars as hobby ever recover?we don't even need the 4chan charts, politicians are making EVERYTHING they can to kill off ice cars for soulless EV's that have 300km of range, tech bros like them because we convinced normies that 0-60 is all it matters.Look on twitter too, a LOT of grifter accounts saying how owning EV is awesome, how they totally load their cars 0-80% in less than 5 minutes, and how they totally not eat through their EV tires every 3k miles
>>28831540>>28831548Aggressive moderation to rid the site of coomers, bots and autistic shitposters is the only solution but not many people want to admit this.>>28831554>I think the quality of /o/ is fairly good still.>mfw
>>28831378>Will cars as hobby ever recover?Cars are now a speculative investment vehicle apparently. Most people will lose money because most cars depreciate.People still want to wish they're sitting on a goldmine.
/o/ is fine4chan never needed 8 trillion people posting all at once to be relevantcars are fine you can just remove cameras and other electronic nanny shit, the government can't physically stop suck-squeeze-bang-blow no matter how much they try. buy hptuners, stop voting for lizard people.not even seeing any real ev shilling on the internet except for the outdated jeetbots here trying to "year of the linux desktop" cars for which the energy density to operate efficiently simply doesn't physically exist.even this thread is a weak concern troll from a vapid, empty busrider and not a genuine post. nobody gives a fuck if this website is popular or not, nobody ever wanted it to be. it was better when it had less people and was a notorious den of bants-hardened assholes that most of the rest of the internet couldn't stand to be around.
>>28831815When I get the "No Verification Required" banner I can't post (no valid captcha) and have to delete cookies to be able to get a captcha and post.
>>28831378>Will cars as hobby ever recover? It hasn't died, its just moved to china, where the money is. Western poorfags literally don;t matter anymore.
>>28832445>The car has the distinct advantage of having a roof. That fundementally seperates the scooter and the econobox market. Nobody that's looking to get an econobox is considering saving money by getting rid of the roof.Sure, you're not wrong, but that's not what the distinction is. When someone is considering buying an e-scooter or e-bike for a primary mode of transportation, they aren't deciding between that and a cheap car. They aren't debating between a $500 scooter and $1500 1993 Geo Metro with 162k miles. They're debating between the scooter and a regular pedal driven bicycle or spending money on taxis/ubers everywhere. These people don't like cars because of everything that comes with them, like getting a driver's license, paying for car insurance, registering/titling the vehicle, license plates, personal property taxes in some states etc. Don't have to worry about any of that with a scooter or an e-bike. I agree that yeah if you live far enough from work you need to commute on the highway then yeah this kind of vehicle is not for you. But if you live in the city in an apartment and you don't often go more than 2 or 3 miles from your residence then a scooter or e-bike is a suitable replacement for a car
>>28831378Young people don't even know if they will be in the same state or maybe even country in a couple of years so no point buying your dream car that you will have to regrettably get rid of so soon. Its up to the older guys to save RX8's or there just won't be many left in a few years.
>>28832775that channel is from hong kong which always had car enthusiasts, a lot of which more hardcore than your average westerner. interesting how you don't repost anything from PRC? its nowhere nearly as accessible in PRC like it is in the west...which is why the mainlanders im friends with in anglo cunts become car guys when they live hereyour average thirdie is still stuck between shitbox korean cars like aveos and shitbox chinese cars both a step above riding a bicycle
>>28831554Uh what? Bait post get a million reply. 4 truck spam threads active now
>>288340981. You don't have to like every topic discussed in every thread.2. Strawman bait threads (pretend to be the opposing position and put up weak arguments or act retarded) to start shit-flinging fests is a 4chan tradition. It's always been around. It's fine as long as it's only a small part of the board, gives people something to talk about.
