Same question as in the previous thread. I have issues with my turn signal switch on my bike. I let my bike for a while outside and it rained on it, the switch button ended up being stuck and therefore unable to indicate. Opened up the switch, cleaned it and lubed it a little, button seems to be unstuck and it indicates normally *while unscrewed* out of the switch box, I screw it back and it seems the button is offset, because I can only indicate left, but am unable to stop the signal or indicate right. The service manual I found online treats the whole thing as whole, so can't find instructions there, any ideas?

I'm thinking today I will swap my rear shock.
I was just gonna throw it up on a front tree stand and use a jack with a block of wood to suspend the engine in order to unload the swing arm so I can get it out.
Am I missing anything else? I read some use a rear swing arm stand to get a little extra leverage when reassembling.

check the tires and if they’re older than 5 years, counteroffer 1200 or walk away, there are plenty of bikes like this out there. Also walk away if the bike isn’t cold when you get there - bikes like this sometimes don’t start from cold, the seller will start it with starter fluid to warm it up then turn it off before you get there so it starts easier when you try it.
1500 is bottom of the market for a working motorcycle, bandit 600 is also bottom of the market for a working motorcycle. Plan on putting another thousand in parts into it over this season and plan to be stranded on the side of the road at least once - take this into account when buying insurance, some carriers have roadside assistance and others do not
my first bike was a suzi intruder 800 of similar provenance and price and it was a piece of shit
Suzukis are “bulletproof” but for a bike this age that means “you can make it run well with no more than a few hours work and a few hundred in parts”

Presumably this is a real switch and not some horrible modern electronic gay affair. If the switch is jambed see is you can unjamb it. Try meths, try wd40 or ACF-50. If nothing works replace it. Switches are low tech.

Maybe you can unscrew it too and take it apart but do not be afraid to buy a new one and move on.

Is that a V-max? The V4 with terrible brakes? it looks sick though.

>Yamaha edition!
So, vibey XJ6 anon here.
Today I've set out to swap around injectors, spark plugs, tighten cap boots around HT leads and measure compression, which was even 200 200 200 195 psi.
https://files.catbox.moe/ite030.mp4
After doing all that and taking a piece of o-ring from right-most injector channel (probably fell off while I was taking injectors out), I went on a test drive.

And holy shit the vibes are practically gone.
There's a very narrow band around 5500rpm and around 7500rpm, but I've had one or two of those on every bike e.g. CB500 had it around 7000 ER6 & Versys around 6500. There's no issue avoiding those as low-speed scenario is typically under 5k, cruising is 7k and aggressive is over 9k. I've tested it on the go and front brake master cylinder doesn't get fucked by vibes anymore. I have brake cylinder repair kit & some steel-braided brake hoses that now can go onto the bike.

I'm still planning on valve sync and now I'll also order new injectors & spark plugs.
>>
>>28992842
>Is that a V-max? The V4 with terrible brakes? it looks sick though.

Yeah bro I totally stop every biker I see on the open road just to ask about their frame sliders / track experience uh huh.

I don't dogmatically interrogate people like that, track dudes 9/10 always bring it up unprovoked at meets or the occasional parking lot interactions. Had a handful of times of dudes showing off their track only setups as well.

Not at all. Most new riders in my city have them but, as I said, they are new to riding and it's usually their first bike. ""Seasoned"" riders don't have them because they know how to ride (every season).

Sure, whatever you say anon. Carry on with unfalsifiable claims. I really don't care
>>
>>28992903
>that's what you believe
Belief has nothing to do with it. I'm out there riding on roads for ten hours a day so I observe things and in my civilised city only riders on L plates have frame sliders. I don't see why you're getting upset about this. If you're ashamed of running sliders on your bike (because they make you look like a novice) then take them off.

Oh ok, so you should be able to show the thread a concreate clear as day source that explicitly says that sliders and spools are only for beginners. Surely the advertising for spools and sliders explicitly says "ONLY FOR BEGINNERS" right?

Because a fact is super easy to prove instead if relying on anecdotes and word of mouth. That's why Facts don't care about your feelings.

Abandoned distribution center photo.
Took it for a little local adventure and ran it through its paces. Already a shit magnet, saw a SVU get lit up by a cop. They hung a U-turn in front of me and gunned it in a 25 mph zone, hitting like 60. The cop went to pursue but then gave up entirely, just letting them go. Pulled over to the side and turned off their wee-woos in abstract fuckin' defeat. 10m after that, almost get clipped by some old cunt running a stop sign.
SAD!!

He failed his exam
The instructor seem to fail him because of retarded reasons
She wanted to see him cruise in 4th gear in a 40kph residential neighbourhood
I said thats fucking retarded on his fz6
Went over there and did a lap in his hood, fist in 3rd at 40kph and then 4th which wasnt even actuating the powerband, lugging, borderline stall/flood the engine
It was a redundant example of how ridoculous this lady was
3rd for sound i can understand but ffs you have hardly any powerband for an emergency acceleration maneuever
She literally shows up late, fails him, has computer and every excuse issue in the book, and ended the exam earlier than even the highway because ahe felt unsafe with his "shaking" or whatever
It was raining, shitty weather and like 11c also

Told him go down to the dmv and show them the lack of proper paperwork and absolute shitshow inconsistencies based on how she feels vs real life circunstwnces, challenge instructor knowledge of the differences between various motors and displscements and their relative friction zones etc.

Anyways, hopefuly it works and they deem it an incopetent unprofessional instructor

not really an issue, its marginal at best
most single/twin between 400-700cc all drink about the same mpg range which is 50-60 mpg
there are few that are above that like honda's 500cc bikes, NC750x, they are around 70 mpg which is where most 300cc single maxi/bikes are at
most liter bikes also in the range of 40-45 mpg

Not a chonker. I don't know anyone at 120kgs. I've had friends who were 90kgs I think. Just get an int650 or cb500x or a himi maybe. You should be fine. Just put a ziptie in your testride and if you bottom it out in normal braking and acceleration, not potholes. You can safely buy that bike, take what I said with a pinch of salt. I don't know too much about baiks. I just ride them. You can also feel the oil line you rear shock to notice the travel.

Went out for a ride myself today. Didn't quite break 100mi yet, but likely the next time or two I take it out.
Was much more successful not just drilling low speed maneuvers, not that I don't want to practice. Just needed a bit of confidence and some road experience before I drop the damn thing again is all.
Engine braking on this T7 is crazy - I feel like I barely have to use my actual brakes at all, which I know is a bad habit to get into. I've been actuating my rear brake as a warning to people behind me, but just generally slowing down gradually.
I need to get a new phone and mount for it so I have GPS - I'm terrible with directions.
Hope you've all gone out for a ride this father's day weekend too.
>>
>>28993887
>I'm terrible with directions.

I think you're missing a valuable part of riding. It's not about starting or finishing, It's about the ride. Sometimes the roundabout way you discover a new place.

>>
>>28993887
>so I have GPS - I'm terrible with directions.
Navigation is a skill like anything else. And like anything else if you always rely on GPS you won't develop that skill. Your spatial understanding/mental map will not develop. It's an examined phenomenon that anything you rely on "external storage" to know or remember your brain doesn't put the same effort into. It's the reason I I can remember the phone number to my mother's work from 30 years ago, but I can't remember her current cell phone number.
You should take trips without having your phone on the handlebars, and only look at the map on it when you stop somewhere for a snack or gas. Build your mental map of your extended area by exploration and not just going A to B with phone directions.

https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/sedici-strada-3-sparo-helmet?sku_id=10343224

I like the shapes for

it reminds me of my lego spacemen and was wondering the outer shell differences matters a lot for safety
>>
>>28994261
oh and I assume the sizing is gonna be the same, the helmet I tried squished my cheeks but I wonder if it did it too much because wouldn't you bite your cheek off if it's pressed in that much?

for helmets either get the best thing you can afford or just wear a 5$ hard hat for legal compliance. there's dumb shit like don't get the AlpineStars Limited Edition Graffiti Print for an extra 500$ but that helmet looks ok. it's 300bux but it's 300bux that could save your life and will last a lifetime if it doesn't have to. or you can be a poorfag but at least dont be a coping one and just get a 5$ hardhat, maybe some lab goggles for road dust

>wouldn't you bite your cheek off if it's pressed in that much?
no, it's actually to prevent that sort of injury. all your mouthparts are held steady so you both don't bite your own cheek off nor clench your teeth so tight they shatter as soon as a leaf hits your visor

You can't gun the engine when the intake is underwater. Your engine will just lock because water doesn't compress.
That niggers ENTIRE BIKE is under water. There's no air going into the engine. He doesn't have a snorkel.

Utterly annihilated, it proceeded to fall through the earth and make its way to China.

But seriously, the wood was fairly soft so a few longer boards got bent. Thankfully the faring is undamaged, but the plastic flap hand guard is slightly bent. It was getting old anyway with a few scuffs, and I may just replace it. 'uv me tractor.

The old guy had used a silicon spray to make it look real nice but it seemed like there was some kind of leak on top of the engine

It had a lot of km's but none put on in the last 2 years

I had owned a yamaha scorpio 225 and it had reliability issues so I was very wary, I just wanted a bike that worked everytime without worrying if I was going to end up breaking down somewhere or stalling at an intersection (idle rpm clutch in stalled because carb shook out of adjustment)

I wanted a ninja 400 but ended up with a cheap r3 that was local(the woman that owned it was selling to get into body building)

Was it here? They commonly leak oil from here, but you just use gasket sealer to seal them up better.
It's just the valve cover.
>idle rpm, clutch in stalled because carb shook out of adjustment
huh? That sounds like a dragging clutch issue. Did it only happen in gear, and not in neutral?
How did the carb shake out of adjustment?

>first bike
Any thoughts between the BMW f800gs and the f800gsa?
The main differences that I can see between the two is that the adventure has a few more features such as: electronic suspension control and a much larger gas tank (6.3gal to 4.3).
I'm buying on marketplace and the production line, 2017, for the gsa model was in it's final year. my intuition for any manufacturing is that a later generation of the same product is going to be better quality.

pros for the 2013 f800gs:
I like the color
a bit lighter, and a bit cheaper.

is electronic suspension control a meme?

>go to half a dozen bike listing sites
>nothing even remotely good within 300 miles
>almost entirely just old cruisers, dirt bikes (without titles), crashed sport bikes (also without titles), and various minibikes
The only bike even a little like what I want is a '09 TU250. Is there a site for buying used bikes that doesn't suck, or is the used bike market just actually like this? I'm sorry for newb question, but I'm a nobike and I'm trying to change that. Is it really this much easier to just buy new?

>>
>>28994372
do the range calculations for both of them based on fuel consumption and gas tank size or just look up ranges on reddit and make your decision based on that. Electronic Suspension control is great if you do long cross-country touring. If this is your first bike then you may find it kind of useless because a first bike is rarely something you go across country with, it's something to get your bearings and learn if you like the hobby.

Most people like the gs more than the gsa anyway. If prices are similar you may like the adventure more for the additions. If you like the color and lightness more, you would benefit from that.
