Purchased a Prius (pic related) a few weeks ago and I've fallen in love with this car. It's a blast driving it on the highway, it just sends when I need to pass someone. The MPG is crazy good. Some trips I get up to 70 mpg depending on how I drive. Even when I floor the thing I'm still getting ~45-50.Why does /o/ hate it so much?

They have fewer parts since they dropped some of the reduction gears, maybe because compact electric motors are so much better now.Gen 5 upgraded the motors and their electronics further.The 2023 facelift Corolla hatch with the ancient 1.8 2ZR engine and gen 5 hybrid system actually out-accelerates many Euro cars in its price and size class, while using less fuel. Of course it has the battery that might need replacement after 10 years, but I think that still costs less than the engine + DCT rebuild those Euro shitboxes might need by then.
