Why do they feae cheap chinese EVs so much? I want my $30k BYD FFS.
>>
I don't want Chinese cars on the road. I don't want my neighbor plugging a Chinese car into a high voltage charger in his garage
>>
Because why would you buy anything else over a chinese car if you can?
>>
>>29106748
because I don't want a chinese car
>>
Simply because they're cheaper than most other new cars. They're also abysmal elephant shit, but that's a story for another day.
>>
>>29106743
cowards
competition is good for consumers
tariffs are ok, ban is gay
>>
>>29106754
>They're also abysmal elephant shit,
like every other new car
>>
>>29106743
Good, ban all China mobiles.
>>
>>29106743
>Chinese foreign ministry has previously urged the United States "to respect the laws of the market economy and principles of fair competition.

What the fuck do the China boys know about fair competition kek.
Their entire economy revolves around stealing IP and massive subsidies from their Communist party.
>>
>>29106794
americas entire economy revolves around corporations selling out their countrymen to outsource slave labor to asia.

the usa created this problem, don't be mad china is now cutting out the middlemen
>>
>>29106788
Sadly.
>>
>>29106747
Now you understand why gas car bans are happening.
>>
>>29106743
Because the Chinese are planning to do what they've done with plenty of other industries over the past few decades. Using state controlled funding, they'll produce cars to be sold at a loss across several different brands. The target market will start to buy largely Chinese made vehicles because cost is the driving factor of purchases for the vast, vast majority of consumers. Once the local manufacturers have been driven to irrelevancy, they will jack up the prices in order to turn a profit and repay the Chinese government. Now the victim-nation has no manufacturing or economic viability to produce cars anymore, and will be completely reliant on imports. I would ban them too, you lose a great deal of your sovereignty as a nation when you give up domestic manufacturing of vital goods, as well as many paying jobs, and national culture for the US especially

My liveleak doctorate tells me we shouldn't import these lithium time-bombs if possible
>>

Think of the biggest piece of shit to ever roll out of Detroit. Now make it ten times worse in every way.
>>
>>29106897
Funny that China has never jacked up rates and their products are cheap in China as well.

Face it, the Chinese are just willing to work 4 times as hard for 1/4th the wage and they’re smart enough to continually improve their processes so their products get better and better, and nobody else can keep up.
They’ll eventually get fat and lazy but right now they’re where the US was from the Industrial Revolution to the 1960’s where this nation was built, only they have the advantage of modern engineering and having been able to “check their work” against 100+ years of European and American refinement, so it only took them 30 years to catch up and they’ve still got fire in their bellies so now they’re out-innovating everyone.
>>
Any ban on Chinese dumping should be congruent with a ban on importing with your label. MF just want to keep being the middle man.
>>
>>29106743
Based, you can’t compete with a country where people are bugs that get paid nothing or we enter the race to the bottom and become bugs, we are genetically superior to them and don’t deserve to live like they do, so we must separate our economies
>>
>>29106958
jeeps literally catch fire while parked and engine off

>>29107105
the entire western economy is built on rent-seeking.

>Why do they feae cheap chinese EVs so much?
I do not want a chinese EV fire hazard parked NEXT DOOR to my house.
>>
It's almost like we're in economic competition or something. OP, lay off the playstation.
>>
>>29107246
>those showers of sparks
That's actually really cool to see. From the other side of the planet desu.
>>
>>29107246
nobody ever talks about the real use case for these lithium powered EVs which is that they make great mobile crematoriums. at a moments notice they'll flash cook up to a gross of urban liberal dipshits in under 30 seconds.
>>
>>29106743
>I want my $30K BYD
Dude if they're going through this much effort to control how they're reviewed and presented to the public, their cars are going to be shit

>>
>>29106743
Why do you shills never shut the fuck up about EVs? I'd rather a $10k, turbocharged, manual transmission car I can thrash and throw away after a few years. Miss me with that EV bullshit.
>>
>>29107020
>their products get better and better, and nobody else can keep up.
You lost me there
>>
>>29107549
>whataboutism.
Nobody cares about this outside of reddit
>>
>>29106743
You sound like a homo. All bev are an eventual uncontrolled fire, china ones are worse.
>>
>>29107392
The question is, why do I have to wait so long before I see an EV driver get cremated alive?
>>
>>29106743
>Why do they feae cheap chinese EVs so much?
Before you get one, some parking garages and apartment complex parking areas do have restrictions for such vehicles. So check to see if you can park that thing where you want to park it AND also check if you are allowed to charge it at that location as well.

$30k is not cheap.
>>
I'll bet if you buy some random Chinese cars off a lot and do crash testing, they will fail several categories that were ostensibly passed during official testing. They definitely degrade the build quality of their cars after they got their stars.
>>
>>29107965
I bet it's even worse for American and European cars.
>>
>>29107787 >>29106743
>$30k is not cheap.

The most basic (entry-level) all-electric passenger vehicle made by BYD for the Chinese domestic market is the BYD Seagull (also branded as the Dolphin Mini or Atto 1 in some export regions). The Official MSRP (China) is 69,800 RMB for the entry-level Active / Vitality trim which is approx $9,800 USD. However, they frequently have price-discounting at the dealerships which then makes the price range from about $8,000 to $9,000 USD.

Please note that this basic price is for the standard Chinese version which does NOT meet either European or USA NHTSA standards. Export models of this EV are actually modified with additional structural support, metal thickness, and safety features to meet minimum safety requirements and that drives the price up to about $26K USD.
>>
>>29106748
Because I want an actual car, not a data-mining smartphone on wheels.

>are just willing to work 4 times as hard for 1/4th the wage
No, they're willing to be exploited sixteen times as hard as an American worker, The reason manufacturing saw China as an attractive destination is because Chinese workers were uneducated and had weak labour protection laws, and weren't allowed to unionize. This is not something to be proud of. Wage arbitrage essentially contributes to human misery.
