/k fag here. I just got this female German shepherd. She's a year old. I can tell her last owners didn't do much to stimulate her energy. She's already bonded to me as well. Having her makes me want to go do shit Innawoods. Took her on a 4 hour hike at a local lake the other day. Pic rel. Really wore her and myself /out. It was really fun. What other activities can I do with her innawoods? Also tell me about your trailbuddy if you'd like.
make it carry its own stuff and look for snakes and check everyday for ticks thats about it or so i would imagineif walking on trails receive bad looks from everyone you come across and never see any wildlife because of the constant borkingi always wanted a tame squirrel to keep me company but i think it doesnt really work that way
>>2718809I plan on getting her a tactical harness with molle with my check tomorrow. I'll probably buy her pouches. The mountain bikers on the trail actually complemented her as they rode by. She's very quiet as well. She'll go after animals for sure but she doesn't bark. Saw two herds of whitetail doe before they got spooked.
>>2718807i have a German shepherd too, but she gets tired very fast. i don't take her with me even though i'd like to because it's annoying to stop every 20 minutes
>>2718828Must be an older one. These dogs should be full of energy. Mine was great and only needed breaks when I took one.
>>2718807she's beautiful anon. it sounds like you'll give her a good life. yes of course watch her energy levels etc etc but I reckon you know what you're doing
>>2718807Got a little sheepdog mutt, adopted her seven years ago from a family where she'd be inside or walk to the store, nothing else. She's just excited to get into the water whenever, wherever, and walk new trails. Starts throwing a tantrum if we walk the same trail too often (lagging behind doing nothing). Love her but she's getting old. Hope to still have a few good years with her.Enjoy your dog anon. They're just happy to be outside and mess around with you.
Found Pic rel while walking her a min ago. Good luck?>>2718833Thank you anon>>2718843I hope you do to anon. She sounds lovely
>>2718877Hmm morels....
Hunting, there's nothing happier than a dog sitting beside a an animal you or it has killed.
All predator animals should absolutely be on a leash when not fenced in or indoors
>>2718980Good thing that precludes you, limp wrist.
>>2718980No thank you.Hiking in the woods with my dog free to explore is the only way to do it.Enjoy your “”””park”””””, filthy urbanite.
>>2718980Prey animal hands typed this post.
>>2718980apologize in 5 minutes or your mother dies in her sleep
>>2718814ya, my aussie is the dog that is getting your dog compliments. congrats on the new buddy. camping and being around a camp fire...you can tell it is natural for dogs...they like being out at night listening.
>>2718832she's 5 years old, but she was fat before i got her. if we're hiking up a mountain, she just lies down half way, and doesn't want to go any further
>pic relatedFuck anyone who keeps a dog and does not go /out/ with them. Also, if you cannot control your dog without a leash, you are doing it wrong and should not be allowed to own a dog.

>>2719456My dog was an absolute weapon off leash for years, would run around like loony and was no good in urban areas, still is no good in urban areas desu. Just keep him on a long rope and he's fine in the bush. Excellent hunting dog, has done more cool shit than most of /out/ Dunno what your problem is.
>>2719467He's just a retard
I took her to meet her future boyfriend. Hes my brothers dog. Their so cute. They'll have good looking pups. Not breeding them till next year. Don't wanna rush motherhood and even then it'll be sparingly to be easy on her. >>2718980Once I get her trained not to head to far off I'll let her off the leash in the woods cause I'm not a limpwristed faggot. >>2719154Thank you anon>>2719180Sounds like an old lab my brother had lol>>2719467Dudes a fag urbanite who probably cries when outside of a city. Ignore him
>>2718807no I don't own a dog because I have hobbies and a life and don't want my life to revolve around a canine's bladder schedule
>>2719569>hobbies and a lifeWhich clearly both have nothing to do with going /out/ for you, otherwise a dog needing to pee wouldn't be an issue.
>>2718807Nice thread
>>2719569Kek, this. Imagine getting bossed around by an animal
>>2718809I can tell you as someone who has raised two squirrels in my life that it DOES work like that. A tame squirrel will fall in love with you just like any dog would. You are essentially their moving shelter like a walking tree and YOU mean safety. Squirrels can be taken out to run amok and will always make sure they have a line of sight to you. A tame squirrel will climb high into trees and rest on branches BUT WILL COME DOWN when called and like a dog that won't listen, you can 'pretend' to walk away as if you are going to leave them, which spooks them into climbing back down. VERY INTELLIGENT ANIMAL! There are only two downsides to keeping a squirrel that I can think of. >Most people will hate your squirrel because they perceived it is a danger to children so taking it to a park can have mixed results. >a squirrel has high energy output and needs regular exercise like owning a border Collie. This isn't as big an issue if you have a dog to also entertain the squirrel when you are not around.
>>2719569>>2721615>/out/ not wanting a dog purely because it'd require them to go outside regularlyNever change.
>>2722379pls share taming strategems
>>2718807Got this idiot under similar circumstances. He's getting me outdoors more. Done a few three hour hikes and he shows no signs of tiring out. He's two and a half now.
>>2719180> she's 5 years old, but she was fat before i got her. if we're hiking up a mountain, she just lies down half way, and doesn't want to go any furtherHave you tested her for heartworm?>> 2719569> no I don't own a dog because I have hobbies and a life and don't want my life to revolve around a canine's bladder scheduleDon’t be a cityfag and just have a doggy door or leave it outside. For op I trained mine to look for antler sheds. That way she is actually doing something productive. Especially a gsd will be doing something either way best to give them something good to be doing.
>>2724069>>2724064>>2722612>>2719456very cute dogs, here is mine, he was left abandoned as a baby in an apartment complex last summer. he grew up fast, he's probably around 9 months old on the pic on the right. he's extremely active so we'll have lots of adventures this summer.
>>2724374Nice dog! Sure hope you didn't name him anything crazy with fur like that anon haha!
>>2724397well his name is Oggy, haha...
>>2719456My boy gets pretty obstinate offleash when its just me n him. He just wants to roam (7 gs/gp intact). But the second we get near other people or dogs he listens raptly. Its almost weird how he can sense the shift in situations.
