There are only two kinds of people. People who know about merino wool and use it and people who don't. Truly amazing material.
wool is too itchy and coarse to be wearable - you will be in constant pain from the scratching against your skin - cotton - in contrast - feels like nothing at all
>>2830198Nigga. That's the point of merino. It's thim and not itchy at all!
Why do some people find wool itchy? Is it some sort of allergy or hypersensitiveness?
he he
>>2830207Both.Lanolin allergies are legit, but actual allergic reactions to wool are super rare. Cheap wool usually contains more lanolin than more expensive wool, and the individual wool fibers are more coarse. Merino contains very little lanolin and has very fine fibers. The later makes it better for people with lanolin allergies while the fine fibers make the material softer for people with sensitive skin. Llama, alpaca, and vicuña are all lanolin free and have very fine fibers (that latter being insanely soft but also very expensive). Merino and alpaca feel about the same but I definitely let notice a difference between those and llama or cashmere.

>>2830390Cotton is heavy, doesn't reatin heat as well as other materials, doesn't dry as quickly as other materials, and essentially cotton sucks ass.

Actually the two kinds of people are those who know that wool has commercial grades, and consumers. The worst "champaign", "merino wool", "carbide" has the highest mark up of all products and so is objectively the worst value. Merino is basically a brand name, the opposite of a performance measure.
>>2832440u wot? name one thing more negro than smoking weed
ITT Poors who don't pay for quality wool thats doesn't itchlollmao even
I camp 12 months a year in Canada. In the winter when I camp everything I wear is made out of Marino wool. I buy a lot of my gear secondhand. Wool will retain heat when it is wet. Cotton is NOT suitable for cold weather. Instead of wearing anything cotton I layer up with moisturizer wicking fabrics. At night you need to take off any clothes you wore during the day because they will have moisture in them and moisture is a killer in cold weather. At night you need to sleep in fresh dry clothes. Marino is great. Alpaca wool is also really good. Down is another excellent insulator but it doesn’t retain heat when it is wet either.
>>2832454Chimping out because someone mentioned something you don't like. You nigger are triggered af lmao
>>2830197I wore so much merino every day that I eventually developed an allergy to it. Now I'm stuck with plastic slop and cotton. Life is pain.
>>2832734I bought a 100% merino wool sweater online from Goodwill for under $20. It’s a gamble buying used online because you don’t know what kind of mongoloid owned it previously or if it’s been put in the drier.
>>2832451>Merino is basically a brand nameIt indicates the specific type of sheep from which the wool was sourced, and the consumer can be fairly confident that the individual wool fibers are around 15 microns in diameter. The next aspect to look for is fabric weight, which tells us how thick the garment is.
