Thoughts on this brand? I'm getting the Recon model as a jack-of-all-trades outdoor knife (I'm forcing a patina on it).

This looks like something I could make with an angle grinder in my garage

Yes I get it, however, this is not something that I have the tools of skills to make myself. We're talking investment in a grinder plus tools, sourcing material, shaping and heat treatment. It comes with a kydex sheath with clip attachment. What I want is a simple do-it blade, not an SRK where the rubber handle will loosen up, or a tacticool plastic knife, or wooden handles that'll come loose or rot.

Single piece of steel with paracord wrapping, chisel grind and a kydex sheath. Decent, easy to care for, fail-proof.

Also uncomfortable to use ranging to agony for extended periods. Paracord handles suck balls.

Holy fuck it's a chisel. Yes you could make this in your garage with minimal tools. This 1095 blank is $10. Cut the shit out with an angle grinder then belt sand the chissel side. Then temper it in a toaster oven. Then sharpen it.

literally all of them can be made like this

Depends on the geometry and if it may be difficult for shitty tools

just make a belt grinder

Word!
I bought an ESEE Izula and thought the Paracord handle would be alright. Nope, it was for shit, and I am loath to count out how much time I spent watching Indians on Youtube teach me macramé to see if a different wrap would be better.
Wrapping style had nothing to do with it and the handle was still for shit, so I found a pair of third-party scales on Etsy, which actually made it usable, and only two months after the knife came in the mail was it usable.

Did you at least drill holes and add some dowels for a handle for it?
