You know the type, dishonest to the core. It pretends to be art and simultaneously to "tell it like it is". Usually shot anywhere from 28 to 58mm. Often black and white, often presented as "telling stories" even though there's no story at all. Most prominently presented as "street photography" even though it's not its only form.
You take the art of photography, hollow it out and fill thay soulless husk with nonsensical, neurotic justifications for it and are left with fraudulent pseudophotography.

How is the one in the OP "good"? It's a snapshit, by Elliot Erwitt so the (((art world))) pretends it's good.
>>
>>4300186
What the fuck are you talking about? Touch grass.

"I don't understand thing, thing is not for me, therefor thing is bad and wrong in all cases, even though significant number of people enjoy, appreciate, understand, and vibe with thing."

Christ, what an asshole.

Is it a trick of the light somehow or does the chick in white have an obscenely massive rack?

Street “photography” is traditionally NOT social interaction, it is pseud voyeurism devoid of it. Most street photographers go to great lengths of consoomerist cringe because they think it prevents people from noticing them taking pictures.

Anyways, “street” is not art, never has been art, never will be art, and can not be art. The moment it becomes art it ceases to be street photography and becomes architecture, portraiture, or the only acceptable readymade: journalism.
>>

> It pretends to be art ... the art of photography
What is your working definition for art? I've yet to see a meaningful answer to that from you.
>>
>>4300206
>i understand this thing and its garbage
>U DONT UNDERSTAND IT
Why are (((art))) people like this? The value in street is as a prompt for the failed creative writers and marketers called critics.

street photography is a sport, not an art form

who can shove a leica in an old mans face the fastest without being noticed or taking a blurry picture? street photography asks these questions. verification not required.
>>
>>4300187
kind of hard to take good photos of people when 90% of people are glue to their phones.

That could make a good concept though
>>

Not using a full powered flash + leica shoved into old people, and homeless people's faces.

Imagine pretending to know what street photography is. This board has seriously gone down hill.

You can tell that the gentleman was told to pose, even from a thumbnail. Street photography truly makes me cringe.

You can tell that street photography is nothing but one big cargo cult, based merely on how they address criticism. It has certain levels of desperation and righteous indignation rarely reserved for other photographic genres, almost as if they think the criticism will destroy their hobby if they don't say something immediately.

Theatricality and deception, powerful agents to the uninitiated. But we are initiated, aren't we anon?

Social interaction? No.
In essence, street photography is rape. You take non-consensual photographs of people, stealing away their sense of safety in public for the sake of self-satisfaction and personal pleasure. Sure, it may be justifiable under the law, but morally? How can you sleep at night with the horrifying moral implications?
You are a picturesque rapist.

And yet, such pose had to be "unposey" enough to fool the intended audience into thinking it was a lucky accident. That's street at its most fraudulent, faux casualty for "street cred". The final product is worse than both a normal staged shot and a lucky snapshot.
