>>4309020>make images. So no photos?
>>4309025Photos, video/films, the odd bit of graphic design. So, to be inclusive, images.
>>4309020There is no such thing as a professional photographer.having said that, did you not get enough attention today and need to come to a board full of people who also "make images" for some sweet treats?
>>4309020Is waking up to experience 9/11 the reason that New York is the greatest city on Earth?
>>4309034That guy says some wacky fuckin bullshit. Also believes he's the second coming of Christ or something. Wild ego.>>4309033Noted. Idk, I just wanted to see a gear thread die.
>>4309035>believes he's the second coming of Christ or somethingDid he actually say that or is that just your interpretation of his personality?
>>4309040No, he doesn't literally believe that, but he does believe he was chosen by God to be mayor, and strikes a messianic tone in most of his speeches. It's a little out there for a civil servant IMO.
>>4309035>Idk, I just wanted to see a gear thread die. You're the hero this board needs, then. Why is greenpoint so fucking gentrified these days?
>>4309043>he does believe he was chosen by God to be mayorIs that what the master Mason at his lodge told him?
>>4309047Great location, nice old buildings, good parks, dope Polish food, well developed waterfront, kind of a no brainer. Taqueria Ramirez slaps. I like Greenpoint. But yeah mere mortals are priced out of Williamsburg/Greenpoint entirely now, LIC/Astoria are next. And the hipster sleeze have moved on to Ridgewood, get in while you still can.>>4309048idk, is he a Mason? My knowledge of Masonry is entirely derived from The Man Who Would Be King and that episode of the Simpsons.
>>4309020name literally the single greatest composition book EVER made
>>4309065idk, I prefer looking at photo books to books on photography, if that makes sense. Larry Fink on Composition and Improvisation is pretty good. I really look up to Mary Ellen Mark, Donna DeCesare, Irving Penn, Eli Reed, Walker Evans, Josef Koudelka, Rosalind Fox Solomon, Alex Webb, HCB, Elliott Erwitt, An-My Le... it's good to just absorb as much as you can imo.
>>4309050>idk, is he a Mason? He's a Shabbos goy through and through.
>>4309069In my mind he's just a cop.
>>4309020Going to NYC for the first time in June. Will be staying in downtown Brooklyn for the first half of the week and then I'm not sure for the second half. Thinking Astoria. What area will have unique street opportunities within walking distance? Manhattan seems overdone to me but maybe I should think more outside the box. Queens gives me GTA 4 vibes that have been lingering in my mind for 16 years.[EXIF data available. >>4309488Definitely go eat in Queens. Astoria Seafood is sick, Jackson Heights has a bunch of great Indian and Nepalese joints, Flushing has the best Chinese food.Downtown Brooklyn is kind of office-y, the Dumbo waterfront is bougie and gentrified af, but still kinda nice to wander through. I like Prospect Park and surrounding area quite a bit, there’s a good cheap pool hall on Flatbush, Oceans 8. Check out Red Hook maybe, cool area. Public Records and Nowadays are great for dancing, PR has the better sound system.
>>4309525Thanks. Not big on the night scene. Or Eastern food. But I'll have to try the Chinese since this might be the only chance I have to get some decent stuff. I'll be staying near Sunset park for the second half of my trip.
how many fotos do you save, how and where?
>>4309620Oh if you like dim sum East Harbor Palace Seafood. Incredible. 8th Ave in Sunset Park is cool.>>4309626I save every photo I take. I use an OWC Thunderbay 4 with 4x16TB HDDs in a RAID 5 configuration. That is then backed up remotely with Backblaze.
Can you post a good photo
>>4310036Sure. Will I? Ehhh. This is more of a Q&A thread.
Can you prove you are a professional
>>4309020Are you and your peers as concerned about AI as the graphic artists are?
>>4309020Do you just snapshit continuous high jpegs and have a phone stuck to your camera constantly uploading them to interns with NX mobile air?

>>4310415Yes. I just filed my taxes, so I proved it to the IRS. But in this venue, I’m not going to. So take it as granted and move on. >>4310420It’s a background concern, a bit out of my control, so it doesn’t do me much good to worry about it. I just try to focus on improving the product I create, making real photos and films. I think there will still be a market for authentically produced imagery of humans, by humans, so I’m not overly concerned. Certain clients are going to make shit with AI rather than hire a photographer… but those were probably shit clients in the first place, so is that much of a loss? The market does suck right now, but you just gotta keep swimming. If I were in micro stock or something, I might be freaking out, but that’s a field that’s been racing to the bottom for decades now, so the writing was already on the wall.>>4310431I almost never shoot jpegs, I don’t have interns, and I don’t typically have wire service like deadlines, so no.>>4310460The moar you know.
>>4310492>So take it as granted and move onNo, you have done nothing to prove your credentialsYou are a fraud hungry for attentionA real pro (like Ken Rockwell) would have no problem posting basic snaps at the very least
>>4309020Why was I so excited to buy my first camera but now it's here I never want to use it?
>>4309020why would you make a whole thread for yourself and then not share photos?at least have the decency to not be a nophoto
>>4310460Multi purpose neck strap.
>>4310520>Minolta HRTHow fitting.
>>4310514Because a camera on its own is not exciting, it’s all about what you can use it for. What did you want to photograph, what inspired you to buy the problem? If there’s no answer to that, found the problem.
