Have not been on Insta for ages, recently went back on and decided to look up all the photographers I use to follow. They have all quit, some have taken up a totally diff hobby and converted their page to being about that.Did everybody move to tik tok? What has happened?I tried the search but half the results were video clips and then it was mainly posts from months ago.[EXIF data available. >>4376457Nobody cares about photos. If you want to be a photography influencer, the only option is to make videos about gear on youtube. No body wants to look at your photos, unless your photos are porn.
>>4376462Why would anybody want to watch video about gear if nobody wants to see photos taken with the gear?Or you mean gear for tik tok and videos?
>>4376457I have no fucking clue, I only got into photography recently having been gifted a camera only to find out instagram is dead, reddit is just softcore porn, and this place is dead too.At some point a year ago or two instagram changed the search page to only show certain algorithm approved posts for a hashtag, with no way to just see the most recent posts on that tag. Then they doublefucked it by chasing tiktok and pushing reels so now here we are the largest photography app ever is dead and used for, at best, shitty phone videos of people taking pictures with them then poorly edited in and compressed to all fuck. Why? Because I can only assume people now are more infatuated with the idea of photography, than they are taking actual fucking photographs No one has replaced it because sillicon valley run out of money btw, so no new apps anymore
>>4379992>...I can only assume people now are more infatuated with the idea of photography, than they are taking actual fucking photographsBingo. It's a lot easier to push some sliders around with shitty post-editing to mask the inherit shittness of a phone photo, than to actually learn how to take decent photographs and invest in actual gear. Fuck, I mean even a $100 Canon crop kit will allow normies to take decent photographs as long as they're willing to learn, but alas poor Yorrick instagram will push your masterpiece aside the second the algo deems it, so why bother putting any actual effort in? Try Flickr. It's also dead, but at least it doesn't mega compress your shit and allows you to have some kind of online presence.
>>4376457>Social media clout chasers changed what they were chasing! So fucking what? Why does that mean anything to you or photography as a whole?
>>4376462This is very true as soon as I started doing only fans with my girlfriend it made the 20k investment into gear worth it lol
>>4376462>>Nobody cares about photos.this it is pretty evident on /p/ee. everyone is too busy sniffing their own farts. people only care about their own photos. the least solipistic thing they do is gear fagging and even that about the cameras that they own. photography is the most shitty art medium. maybe it is not fair to call it art. >>4379992>Why? Because I can only assume people now are more infatuated with the idea of photography, than they are taking actual fucking photographsRight on the money >>4379998Kys >>4380049Viewership is 50% of the process. You don't show your photos to anyone?
>>4380053>You don't show your photos to anyone?Sure, my partner, my friends, anons on 4chan, random strangers who make the mistake of asking me about my camera. Maybe if I collect enough solid shots I'll try to publish a photo book or put up a website. But I do it because I enjoy it and I enjoy the photos I take, not because internet randos give me validation. That's why I said what I said - your "friends" on Instagram were always only interested in the clout to be chased, not in the medium. So who cares if the started chasing different clout or have given up on photography? Doesn't affect my ability to take photos I want to take that satisfy my creative itch.

>>4376462Nobody cares about fine dining. The majority of food consumed is fat food or reheated frozen meals. If you want to be a chef, the only option is to make videos about knives on youtube. Nobody wants to eat your food, unless your food is burgers.
>>4380088To be fair very few care about fine dining, it's tasteful but won't satiate your hungerAlso dining itself is getting expensive, 8 fucking dollars for an order of fries

>>4376469We live in a consumption based society, people consume content telling them what to buy. Photography sells a lifestyle, or the promise of a lifestyle, and people want to live what they see, so they'll just buy what's pushed on them.
>>4380591Yeah dont waste your time cooking most people just want a dollar meal from mcDs. fuck real food, bourgie gearfags. just be normal and order a panda bowl ffs cooking is dumb ass autistic white people shit. no one cares about your cooking gearfag. on social media 90% of food is from franchise restaurants. >you let yourselves be demoralized with this argument
