Feels good man
Why do you care for a camera you won't buy?
>>4379237>Why do you care about competition and its effects on the market?
Reminder the A1 has worse than APS-C dynamic range and the A1II will almost certainly be even worseSNOY only looks good if you compare them to cannot POS R because you're a noskill snapshitter who needs magic AI autofocus and magic AI framing assistance to take your photos for you
>>4379245So essentially you are saying that everyone lacking basic skills can be a pro photographer and their autofocus is magic?
>>4379256Did you see the 2024 olympics photography, especially at the ping pong event? Have you seen how sports photography works in general?>Spam snapshits with the right person centered>sooc jpegs are constantly FTP'd to home base>interns cull and cropThat's sports photography. That's what cameras like canons, the z8/z9, and the a1/a9 are built for. That's why they sometimes have fucking ethernet ports. On a camera. To upload SOOC jpegs to interns who crop and cull as fast as possible.it's basically not photography anymore.
>>4379257So literally every sports reporter doesn't have any other option as to buy this? Sounds pretty cool to me.
>>4379260They can also buy the canon r3/r1 or the nikon z8/z9 and just send slightly fewer jpegs for the interns to cull. Its not like IQ is any good, or the photos are used at higher resolutions than 1920x1080.
>>4379263>send slightly fewer jpegs for the interns to cullSounds awful and not worth the price.
>>4379243>effects on the marketWhich will be : none.
>>4379245Sony is clearly the best one in that pic tho, you can actually read the bottom text
>>4379285Thats because its 50mp bayer. The other cameras are low res, 25mp, 20mp, and 40mp xtrans which is only as good as 24mp bayer (just like bayer is lower res than mono/foveon)Dynamic range is clearly the same for all 4. The FFs are behind a stop from stacked bsi high speed shit, the g9ii is ahead a stop from panasonics innovations in simultaneous gain stage readout (which phones were already doing 10 years ago). All you get is bokeh and less shot noise, but not more DR.
>>4379245Jesus christ I take that back, i looked closer and the R3 is a fucking jokeDoes it actually have less dynamic range than the g9iiJesus fucking christ lmaoSo much for canon’s forced noise reduction at every ISO. It looks like the shadow recovery ability of a nikon d70.
>>4379235if it's sony then you already know that their 28-70 will be 1/2 the weight of canon's counterpart.
>>4379289And somehow vignette less.
>>4379269Samyang's bargain 35-150 exists only because Tamron released their 35-150
>>4379235Were you guys not told that the huge wave of sony hate we got last month was paid shills trying to force memes ahead of sony's release cycle? You were told.>I-it will be worse than the last one or as bad guys I swearSuuuuure.
>>4379245What the fuck are you talking about idiotThe sony a1 obviously has more DR than all of these even though you kneecapped both full frame cameras by sticking them in E shutter.
>>4379235Z9 killed the a1 on the spot so i am betting the a1 II will be a monster on video. That also means new Z9 next year, i just want a new P1000 goddamn it
>>4379373>Z9 killed the a1 on the spotNo, it really didn't.The Z9 killed itself on the spot.
>>4379378>Z9 dyingSure thing buddy, let's ignore the EVF quality, the video specs, the construction quality and sale numbers backing the pro opinion.Z9 is the a1 made better, the a1 II will be as good if not better so that means pushing the tech forward.
>>4379361
Is this a good upgrade from an a6700 if money isn't an issue I'm shooting crop at the moment
>>4379623>I'm shooting cropWith a 6700? You don't say.>Money isn't an issueRetarded question, money IS an issue, always. You are just baiting for bored responses and walls of texts
>>4379627t.poorfag
>>4379373>>4379385the famous Trump pic was made by A1
>>4379629>Dude I totally have the money to buy Sony's flagship the moment it hots the shelves!>And I also have the money to buy all the lenses I need for said flagship with the appropriate quality!Yeah sure, coming from a guy who has a fucking a6700 I bet you have the $20k hot and ready to upgrade lmao
Nikon has the best selection of lenses though
Mirrorless cameras are tearing this community apart
I shoot an A7R2. Not sure why you'd need more than that.
>>4379237I'm actually considering a used A1II in 1-2 years as an upgrade from my 1st gen A9. I want higher MP but don't want to give up the speed, so A1 is really the only option. I also want the bigger A9III grip and the fully articulated screen, so 1st gen is out.
>>4379848The Mark 2 bodies were janky and the battery life was a joke. Mark 3 bodies is what the Mark 2 bodies should have been and are refined enough to not feel like an unfinished prototype.
>>4379632Wrong!
>>4379385>bunch of memes for a bg only blobthe a1 with an add on grip outlasts the z9sony build is better than olympus since 2020better autofocus and dynamic range on sonybetter lenses on sonynikon is all recalls, iphone color science and crooked viewfinderlets be real, its a sony/canon world and fuji is rising up to a distant third for all the weirdos and terminal gearfags who are all about holding and being seen with the camera but not about using it. if you want to get work done, new expensive sony/canon and write it off. if you just want pics with a fairly competent camera buy the cheapo crop bodies - the r50, r7, and a6700 are GOAT cope sensor cameras and you could really get shit done with the r7. its better than most full frame cameras.
>>4379235Im seeing a lot of nikon z gear for sale locally as of late
>>4379848I upgraded from an original A7 to an A7R III. There aren't huge difference between the II and III, however I went for the latter for the higher res viewfinder, type C port, better battery life, faster burst shooting (10fps vs 5fps), and I thought I'd like the touch screen for AF point selection but I turned that shit off. You also get a second card slot which may be important to some people. The AF is better too, it has the same number of phase detect points but a shit load more contrast detect points, maybe it utilises those for better tracking or something.
>>4380019Does your A7 or rx100 get any use or do they just sit on a shelf I would have thought you would have sold the old body, A7 seems very lackluster with the old sensor in low light
Why camera expensive?
>>4380022Because your phone comes with one and if anyone else wants a dedicated camera they deserve to be gouged.
>>4380026Nigger, phone camera aint shit. It's filters and ai.
>>4380030Correct. However, it's still a valid point. Normies are best served by their phone, even if it's not a "real" camera, they don't care. Sorry mang but real camera owners are the minority which means we're a dying market. A dying market is going to be selling low numbers in the grand scheme of things, so prices have to stay reasonably high to make up for R&D and tooling. Coupled with the fact that even "low-end" cameras have a fixed minimum cost of materials and labour, the bottom floor of pricing stays relatively propped up. If you want to keep going deeper, the microchip issue that has affected multiple industries includes the camera industry. There is some hope for new manufacturing to start/continue in the U.S., but the U.S. doesn't make cameras so they have to rely on the Taiwanese industry regardless.
>>4380021I use the RX100 occasionally for those times where bringing the A7 isn't convenient but I still want something better than my phone. I ride a motorcycle so it's small enough to fit in my jacket pocket. Also for around the house sort of stuff, say I'm doing a DIY project or something on my bike and I want some photos for documentation purposes.Haven't used the A7 since getting the R III. I did think I might like a second body with another lens but for what I do I have the time to just switch lenses and not take the hit to image quality, and it's less to carry around. I might sell it at some point.
>>4379662A community? Where?
>>4380038>"Dying market"No, reverting, if you pay attention to what died and what didn't.We are leaving the golden age of democratized quality photography (the DSLR and large sensor PNS craze)There's a point to be made about "real photography" having associations with the wealthy. To even appreciate high quality photos, you need wall space for large high quality prints, in spaces where they can be seen up close, and you can not own poorfag PCs with low res screens or else you can't enjoy your megapixels at all...It's also reverted to being a profession any gearfag can enter. The sheer amount of "professional" photographers and videographers who are LITERALLY just a STEM bro with a hobby and an expensive FF mirrorless+f2.8 zooms rig and no artistic talent for lighting etc currently exists because phones are worse than the cheap DSLRs people used to use for family get-togethers, and they keep getting worse with more AI processing, more skin smoothing, more forced HDR, and more forced fake vibrance, which makes them look noticeably worse than anything shot on a real camera except deep focus, 24-28mm motion blurred b&w street shitting. Just like the days when most people had an awful film PNS that was, like phones, only good for street photography/lomography and to be a professional you merely had to buy a 645 SLR with autofocus and a tilty swively flash on a bracket. Even Ken Rockwell was a pro wedding photographer in those days. We're back to that because most people only have the super shitty PNS (phone). I've heard of some really, really talentless artists here, and elsewhere, actually having shot events for pay. Fucking cinefag even shot events for pay. SUAGR shot events for pay. FUCKING HOW? Everyone elses cameras kind of suck now, that's how!Reminder: Sony is selling shittons of ZVE1s because of their automagic digital gimbal and on camera color grading making it easy for non-videographers to just consoom and start charging plebs for their shoddy work.
>>4380080>because phones are worse than the cheap DSLRs people used to use for family get-togethersCan confirm. I bought a cheap d70 because for batteries and CF cards, because it came with them, and I honestly am blow away at the pictures it produces with good lenses. You can't tell much of a difference from modern cameras in good light. I used to think cameras made good pics and they do to an extent, but once you see how they over sharpen, etc. You can see their limitations.
>>4380081There was a time, kicking into high gear around 2008, when everyones dad had an aps-c DSLR with enough megapixels, a kit zoom, and a cheap portrait prime, and a professional photographer had to drag out the mamiya, 3 strobes, assistant, backdrops, and props to market themselves over that.My kids last school portraits were natural light in front of a tree in the playground and the guy literally just had a sony a7iii and a tamron f2.8 zoom, that's it.Just consoom and mog the phone.
>>4380080This is part of the death of the american dream, but global because freedom and power to the people cuts into profitINSTEAD yall get a world where government mandated corporate services can pass extra-democratic laws, ie: insurance effectively fining you for not buying an EV, and everyone who isnt the elite gets nerfed in the pettiest of ways. Heated seats DLC ways.
>>4379289Sony 28-70 f 2.0 GM leaked, confirmed around 900g
>>4379866this is not famous trump pic
>>4380126500g lighter? sirs e mount cant do this, its impossible sirs. it must vignette 4 stops. yes. whats next sony makes a 28mm pancake that focuses internally? it wont be a pancake then because it will be 3mm longer. canon still wins. phew.
>>4380126>can't replace my 20 1.8>can replace my 35 1.8 (280g) >can replace my 55 1.8 (280g)>can't replace my 85 1.8that's all it can do for a 60% weight increase? sheesh.
>>4380126>28mm
>>4380180This must be bait
>>4380186>>4380180>seething for a not yet released lens
>>4380019>touch screen for AF point selectionYeah I had to turn it off too. Any time I tried to put my face to the viewfinder like a boomer, the touchscreen took this as a personal insult and locked onto whereever my nose touched it.
>>4380306It's a lot better on the a7c/a6700The only thing stopping sony from standardizing on RF style bodies is their photo agency contracts. It would be discriminatory against left eye dominant people. But they should at least make a tilting EVF that swaps in like fuji's GFX, or an eye relief extender to replace the standard eyecup.
>>4380327>The only thing stopping sony from standardizing on RF style bodies is their photo agency contracts.Nope. As long as Social Security is around, there will be viewfinder humps.
>>4380336>i-its the old ppl guise!Old farts are invariably in love with leica. It's because a centered viewfinder is sorta shit no matter which hand/eye you shoot with (remember portrait orientation is a thing) and a viewfinder off to the side is very nice for right eye shooters and absolutely unusable for left eye shooters. Short of making a true left handed model, the only way sony can get everyones noses off the screen is to make a tilting EVF.
>>4379235>using Roman numerals for half the number instead of just calling it the A12 or AXIIThe absolute state of snoy lmao
>>4380306I very rarely had that issue, more often for me my hand would just brush against the screen at some point and I'd wonder why the fuck the camera would refuse to focus on what was in the centre of the frame, because for some reason they made the focus point indicator a light grey that's often near impossible to see. Also I was once shooting in the rain (no the camera didn't explode) and of course that fucked with the touch screen too.I thought I'd be moving my focus point around often but honestly, unless you're on a tripod you just have it in the centre and focus and recompose and it tracks your subject.
>>4380339The Leica fetish is its own thing. Old people are used to the central viewfinder because that's what typical SLRs had. It's not some stupid photo agency responsible for it.
>>4379632Which means nothing as most photojournalists are "forced" (agency tools) to use Sony.Z9 is better, doesn't mean the a1 is bad at all>>4379848Alpha series second generation has thicker sensor stacks, that's a no-no in trying to make newer lenses and adapting old ones.>>4379871>blobNo sissy nigger zone here buddy, move along
