Facebook is terrible, IG is also terrible because of the its aspect ratio and quality, Flickr has a limit of a thousand, 500px has a BS upload rates.

I need a good site to display and share my photos
here is my granny, be NICE. (no swear words)
>>
>>4448336
I just post here, instagram and sometimes a discord I'm in. I don't think people really care much about photography. It's everywhere and people consume more of it in a day than they did in a year 40 years ago
>>
>>4448336
Other people don't really care about photography and never really did. Unless it's a gimmick the general public is mostly interested in the utility of photography for things like weddings and graduations. That being said I still post photos online. I pay for flickr premium so I have an online backup of my jpegs and I post occasionally on instagram and foto. If you want quality the only real option in my opinion outside hosting your own website is flickr.
>>
>>4448336
>IG is also terrible because of the its aspect ratio and quality
Just put borders.

I store my photos on a Proton Drive paid plan and then share the link with friends. Simultaneously, I put my favourites on Instagram.
>>
>>4448336

If you need more than a 1000 photos you are posting slop.
It’s that simple.

Tell your grandma to clean her damn house.

I text them unsolicited to anyone in my contacts who I think would enjoy them.
like to the family group chat
>hey check out this great shot I got of granny! feel free to share with the fambly :)

Why do you need to “display” your photos or share them with the masses? Surely you do photography for your own enjoyment and mastery? Self fulfilment? Are you a woman that you “need” external fake validation?
>>
>>4448336
Here and IG, that's literally it.
>>
>>4448467
>Are you a woman that you “need” external fake validation?
Stop begging the question. First establish with reasons how sharing photos equates to seeking external validation.
>>
>>4448488
If you "share" your photos and no one views them, is that really sharing? Would you care? If you do, would you be willing to pay others to view your photos? Would you expect something in return from them?
>>
>>4448490
>Would you care?
A bit but not really.
>Would you be willing to pay others to view your photos?
No?
>Would you expect something in return from them?
Not really? but I love the sense of community.
>>
>>4448467
You put your creations out in the world to achieve fame and recognition and assert your skill and talent. "Muh self fulfillment" and "art for art sakes" is a cope for failing to achieve any recognition and ironically a feminine, interiorized approach to art.

Why do you need to “display” your thoughts or share them with the masses on 4chan? Surely you do thinking for your own enjoyment and mastery? Self fulfilment? Are you a woman that you “need” external fake validation?

I am sick and tried of telling you faggot about photobooks and exhibitions. Photographers who are worth two shits use Instagram for the PROMOTION of their work. They share their work through print. Go and fucking dominate the galleries and get photobook publishing deals. Grab life by the balls.
>>
>>4448536
Found the gender-obsessed schizo.
>>
I don't update my artistic content for regular folks to envision and scroll past it.
Only the lowest level photographers who beg for attention, share their work and note: they absolutely have to mention what camera and lens they used, and even the EXIF to appear more knowledgeable.

Yes, I AM a woman (male), how did you know?

Im a fucking sperg, so I dont share the link with anyone, but sometimes I wish someone saw my pictures.

>Personal website running on a raspberry pi.
Post it please

Also holy shit you can make a personal photography website with on a fucking 128gb memory card????? Teach me, O Master

your heart is full of hatred. might as well kill yourself

Go make instagram reels, for popularity.
4 digits followers max.
Real photographers don't need the approval of the masses.

As I said, I don't feel comfortable sharing my pictures with anyone. Kinda gay, I know.

About the site, I'm making my own even though I'm not too good with development. Gemini is doing most of the work and I'm just giving instructions and troubleshooting, vibecoding at its finest.

But there are a lot of WordPress themes that you can just download and configure for your personal preferences, birdsite.jp or minimalio.org are some examples that I know of. The worst part is managing the database, but there are a lot of tutorials for that.

Then you just need to follow a basic tutorial on installing MariaDB, Nginx or Apache, PHP and WordPress, and you have a site. If you buy a domain and open your ports, you can access it on the internet, otherwise, it'll just be on your local network.

Hardware-wise, a Raspberry Pi will suffice, or an old laptop. If you don't wish to dump all your photos in raw format, SSD (or SD card) speed is more important than size.

Of course, if you open your site to the internet, you'll have to worry a bit about security and ongoing maintenance (making sure that all software is up to date). But it's not that hard and you have a lot more creative control and freedom than when using social media.

> MariaDB, Nginx or Apache, PHP and WordPress
That's a lot of gay shit. Look into a static site generator like Jekyll, and a free photography theme and you're all set.
>>
>>4449020
Yeah, real photographers delete their photos as soon as they take them. Imagine saving your photos like an attention whore retard.

What the other anon said is true. Wordpress is shit and gay. I got a website like this running on Hugo, Github and Netlify. There are „single click deployment” ways of setting up a website, and with moderate traffic, it costs nothing.
>>
It is rather strange that instagram with its monopoly and the current rise in hipsteresque photography does nothing to cater to such a clientele. Then there are sites like Vero which was a good idea, but is not going anywhere. Both platforms have neglected PC users which is a shame.

I used IG for four years, posted a lot of my work there, and it never took off. Shadowbans, etc. I stopped bothering.
Had a few photos stolen that got way more likes than I did, so something pretty fucky was going on with my account.
Though I never let the aspect ratios put me off. In fact, after a while of just posting 1:1's, I experimented with different ratios all the time.
I posted some photos on pre-X Twitter. Now I just occasionally post park photos on an FB group. As you say, it's depressingly bad out there.
>>
>>4455024
I really want somewhere else to post where they can get seen a little, having hundreds of photos that only I can look at isn't as fun as sharing with people that also like photos.

At a certain point, it's not profitable to host stuff for free. "Photographers" with their 100 megapixel snaps of building corners are past that point for sure.
>>
>>4448336
>IG is also terrible
IG is the worst piece of garbage ever. But for the sake of clicks photographers, architects, designers, illustrators, etc use it. It drives me crazy.
I use Flickr and really thinking about becoming PRO member. But the shit is expensive.

Tumblr

Google photos/drive with a slightly lowered resolution. There are 15 GB available so it's enough to store thousands of pictures.

>I use Flickr and really thinking about becoming PRO member. But the shit is expensive.
Reach being an issue too, it seems like nobody uses it.
>>
>>4460876
This is key to any platform. Sadly there's nothing photocentric with enough reach to even approach equivalence.
>>
>>4460123
I liked your suspension one on the 23rd

glass photography app is pretty neat but you gotta pay a subscription, its like insta with no frills and if it was photography centric. you can easily share your profile with a web link moyo4
>>
>>4448336
I use Flickr, paid acct, only share with friends & senpai. It's satisfactory to me.
>>

I uploaded them to 4chan threads and just send the links to the posts to my friends and family members
