I made it. I am finally in photography school. I don't care if it costs heaps. At least I get to spend time doing what I like.
It literally costs nothing to go outside and take photos.
>>4467431>It costs nothing to snapshitI want to make it as an art photographer, not as someone who makes boring stuff that only has meaning to me.
Kek.
>>4467430Based anon Good luck
>>4467438Thanks. I know that I will enjoy the real community I will find on campus. I realised that Instagram isn't going to help me grow. The types of photos that go viral on there are the most simplistic because they need to survive the scrolling nature of social media. /p/ is good enough but do people here really dwell on complex photographs? Or do they just want to troll?
>>4467430>13k per semesteri was gonna hate but hell man if you can get your output to this level in your 4 years while networking and scoring gigs, youd have no trouble making a secure and profitable career for yourselfi wish you the best anon>>4467439post them, I will dwell
>>4467430>"The median salary for a photographer is around $40,000 to $42,000 per year"You can't be serious. Not when everyone has a smartphone that takes almost just as good of pictures. What exactly is your plan after graduation? How do you plan on making money or getting a job? Jobs that don't exist. You do things you like as a hobby. Not for work.I think this post is just trolling. No one is actually that stupid to pay $13k a semester in a scam.
>>4467439>I realised that Instagram isn't going to help me grow. But Insta is absolute essential to market your work and network with other photographer. I have found cool people there just by DM'ing them and then meeting them in person or just talking to them about their work. All art photographers are there. If you are talking about growing aesthetically as a photographer then there is only one way to grow and that is to study the work of great photographers that you enjoy and then practicing a ton. Checkout these threads >>4466844 >>4465912College is just for networking and making contacts with your professor and like minded people to get your foot in the door of industry. >/p/ is good enough but do people here really dwell on complex photographs? Or do they just want to troll?/p/ is a mixed bag. Most of effort posters left 6 years ago. But sometimes you do get >>13k per semesterI think that's a lot anon. Why not apply to better colleges in UK and US?
>>4467441I wonder if Lifetouch and other school photographers are lumped in with this metric. I made $8/hr back in 2014 doing it and my title was "Photographer". My job was basically to raise and lower a camera, attempt to make toddlers smile and pose, and press buttons. Absolutely the McDonald's of photography.

>photography studies college Seems legit
>>4467523I'm not posting my stuff here, it's a waste of IP. Pro-tip: I needed to submit a portfolio to get admitted.>>4467527It's the best, hands-on college for photography in my country.
>>4467531Have you met the infamous /p/ legend eggy? He is also an aussie from Brisbane.
>>4467523half of what he's gonna be learnjng is business stuff for photography the other half is gonna be post and film processing
>>4467536Remaining 3rd half would be getting his dick sucked by an arthoe in the darkroom
>>4467535I don't go to Brisbane but I'm from North Queensland.
>>4467536>Starting 81,000 Aussie bucks in the redMost business savvy /p/ poster. Nigger could buy a Hasselblad/Leica system and spend the rest touring the world developing his craft. Instead he’ll be stuck in some course made for the lowest common denominator. >>4467531>Yeah this place I have to pay $13,500 a semester for liked my work!Lmao congrats, they’ve determined you have the capacity to operate a camera. It’s been a fun bait thread, hopefully if another anon is considering doing something similar, he’ll be dissuaded.
>>4467543The worst comparison in my head is 81k AUD spent, and how many PLACES you could go with that dough. Just spend $5k on a top-tier Nikcannot setup and go fucking SEE EVERYTHING. If you gave me the chance to see half the world or sink eighty thousand into a course where they teach you how to take well lit dick pics, it's a no brainer.
>>4467553>take will lit dick picsgotta have a zyzz compilation of my dick pics
>>4467531>I'm not posting my stuff here, it's a waste of IP.If you don't want to share your pictures and instead view them as "IP" you've already started on the wrong foot anon. There are lots of reasons to take photos but building up a super sekrit special IP backlog is a pretty terrible one
>>4467543>>4467553He will have a career and meet like minded people in real life while you faggots will keeping on gearfagging and taking one billion photos of flowers and shit. All of you are dumb as shit. Just fuck off back to >>>/sci/ with your "common sense" sport jock meat head tier thinking because art is gay and doing a humanities degree is foolish, right? >>4467565Holy shit you sound like a massive fag.>He will have a careerBased on what? The art hoe giving the professors handys on the reg has an astronomically higher shot at success than anon would even with insane talent and skill.
>>4467565>He will have a careerI don’t see that included with the degree>Meet like minded people Join a Facebook group>Art is gayNever said that>humanities degree>Humanities are academic disciplines that study aspects of human society and culture, including certain fundamental questions asked by humans.Hmm let’s see, what would I choose in order to study human society and culture, a 80k degree or 80k worth of traveling the world? Gee this is tough.
