every single time
Youtubers just lie about the price
>>4507802You can find them for that much, but definitely not after their video hits. It's like those "I bought the cheapest ___ in the country" videos and then whatever that is will also go up in price. The same fucks are also why the iPod Classic ended up going way up in price when you could get those for shit all money for a number of years.
>>4507713This cunt is such a fag man
>>4507713I too spent more time watching YouTubers jerk off over rare cameras than actually going out taking photographs.
>>4507819Same thing happens with tiktok too
I know pretty damn well it was always like this with cars.
>>4507713It's an easy way of instituting price fixing without trade regulators cracking down on the practice. The YouTube exposure is a signal to raise the price floor
>>4507830What happened to masculinity in white men?
If they come for the Retina Reflex we riot at dawn>single-lens reflex>can be found for 20 bucks>glorious Schneider glass>lenses are interchangeable with the later Retina rangefinderI swear to fucking god
>>4508185Lack of competition. Ya’ll niggas gay.
>>4507713I paid $59 for a EOS-M in 2019Wild how expensive a semi Non-Shit camera has gotten.
I would like to thank the tiktok zoomies, the youtube soibois and the insta hoes for allowing me to rent my G7X MkII for the past 9 years at a rate of minus three fiddy a year. Pleasure doing business with y'all. Looking forward to doing business with you when my next meme camera almost falls apart. I will make sure to glue the grip back in my signature fashion.
I think the hype train for everything vintage/retro is in the process of crashing and these youtubers shilling stuff will have less of an effect. I see the tendencies already being someone who hustles and quite frankly even though I profit from it it should crash because people have more important things to spend their money on and it is foolish to limit yourself because that is in essence what you are doing by searching for the "vibe" or "feel" of a certain product. The output is bad, the user experience is bad.It isn't just camera gear though, but everything "collectible" and "limited" aka modern junk. Some film lenses for instance have gone down by probably 60-70% since its hype peak about 3 years ago, not just selected pieces of glass, but almost the whole lot, except Leica which for some reason still find an unreasonable clientele to sell to.
>>4508388but at some point it becomes like CRTs. all the once-ubiquitous "junk" end up in the hands of collectors/enthusiast/whatever, and there's no more supply of dads getting rid of their old ones anymore, only guys who paid $50 trying to get $75like I'd say we moved past peak retro crtgamer about 4 years ago but the prices keep creeping up
>>4508295yea nobody is coming for that piece of shit man, good luck on the sale though.
>>4508510There's already a term for this in the used car market - they call it the culture of "I know what I have"
>>4508900>"anon did not in fact, know what he had"
>>4508900I remember seeing an ad for an absolutely rusted out old "rare" beetle sitting in a field where the seller who had inherited it claimed that their grandad or whoever had been offered a specific sum some 2 and half decade ago, with pictures of the car from back then etc, and they "did not want sell below that". Problem is that back then it may have been worth some money as it was somewhat complete, but sitting outside for decades even with price appreciation as these things have become more popular it was still way more than what it was worth in the condition it was in. Guess that sort of thing goes in the family. It is a shame with all these folks sitting on perfectly fixable stuff that they think they can do themselves, but in reality can't only for the thing to sit and rot until they die of old age.
>>4507713i like this fellas videos about camera e-waste but that half laugh he does in the middle of random sentences that aren't funny is kinda grating once you notice it
