If drugs like cocaine existed in Migration Period Europe would the barbarians have used drugs? Perhaps for shamanistic religious rituals at the very least? Also what about the Vikings? It got me thinking because Mexican drug cartels act like Iron Age barbarians in a sort of way, they carve out territories, war with the current established governments(much like the Roman empire,) and act tribalistic by warring with other cartels for land and resources just like barbarians would.
