I was tested at 16 to have a 145 IQ but as a 35 year old adult I feel dumb as shit. Last test I took (part of a college program at 22) was 147. It's never gotten me a better job or any pussy. If anything I'm skeptical about the purpose of the number and test, it's like gaslighting people IQ doesn't mean shit.

I think the reason for this loose correlation is that if you're actually middle to outlier IQ, you are more likely to get crappier sleep (from staying up late reading, programming, etc). The outlier there on the chart is likely some guy who is making sure he gets at least 8 hours every day, is exercising and eating well, and likely only does like 1-2 hours of work a day (and still outperforms his peers). Perhaps this is the guy we should all aspire to be. But I'm just 124 IQ, I know I need to put in extra work to even have a chance at being competitive with someone a deviation higher than me.
