You know they tried to bring back large airships with a "slow but luxury" aesthetic
No one went for it because no one wants to take a 2-3 days flight when a normal jet service can do the trip in 5-6 hours lol This is why (((they))) now want to bring Concorde back. The technology is lost but the speed it could fly means they can charge a huge premium

>>

>>
>>517401590
trains are fine.
they are cost effective and logistically sound.
an airship is only aesthetic for the few amount of people on board.
and again they are very slow and take up so much space for just 50 people on board.

just imagine, how much space a fleet of airships would take if they were to carry the same amount of people a regular train does.
you need a hinderburg sized airship to carry 50 people man.
a fleet of 6 hindenburgs just so you can transport a measly 300 passengers.
it is a novelty. nothing more.
>>
>>517401689
This, though i suppose.
Still even if you go VIP at the airport it’s still a nightmare experience. The only difference is

To fly from New York to london back in 1968 in economy cost 350 dollars or 3200 dollars today. Nowadays economy is 500 dollars. For the 1968 price you can almost get a business class flight from New York to London and you will get much larger seats that can lie flat and meals like that. In reality flights have gotten better if you pay as much as flights cost back then.

This. Instead of going on a plane between London and New York you can instead take the Queen Mary 2 Ocean Liner, which is basically the modern day Titanic. Even the cheapest class on Queen Mary 2 is better than First Class on a plane. And it only costs just a bit more than economy on a plane. Yet the ship is losing money because people don't want to wait a week for their trip that takes 6 hours on a plane.

Concorde did get profitable towards the end. British Airways and Air France realized that the people who rode on the Concorde didn't care about the price. So they just doubled the ticket prices and the rich business men still paid it. And the Concorde was profitable during that time until the accident happened and destroyed it's reputation. And by the times the issues were fixed in 2001 and plane was back in service 9/11 happened which destroyed airline demand. Which is why they ended service in 2003.
>>

>I am glad that there are now flights that cut costs as much as possible, so you can have ultra cheap flights.
you are retarded. that just mean low class niggers are now traveling. There used to be at least a minumum barrier of entry for middle class people with a bit of expendable income. now niggers from the hood are getting spirit air flights for $50 and going places they have no business being and shitting the place up. Cheap airfare on the surface seems nice, but it drives the cost of everything else upwards because stores in the area charge more because shoplifting goes up, food quality goes down but prices up, taxes on locals go up because they need more police to supervise tourist areas, pollution goes up because cars are sitting on traffic burning fuel because tourists drive like retards slowing everyone down, emergency room visits have longer wait times because drunk niggers getting into fights and doing dumb shit and need the hospital...the list goes on.

I’m old enough to remember people smoking on planes, asking a stewardsss for about 5 bags of cookies during a flight and her happily supplying them, being given cokes whenever I wanted, a few alcoholic beverages when I got older. one can only imagine man. 10k is a very cheap guess.
the average time for an airship to cross the atlantic is around 45-50 hours. and while carrying more crew than passengers all getting payed by the hour.
it is no different than an exquisite first class experience by default.
it will be a novel experience akin to exquisite first classes with private room and shit.

but alas because the total takeoff weight is only around 10 tons. everything on board should be made as light as possible to the point that it would be void of many amenitites.
with a takeoff limit that low, even passengers are bound to strict luggage restrictions. to the point that it cannot be bypassed with paying more money like we can do on airplanes today.

They have some domestically, but you usually have to be flying 1000 miles or so.

That's why I said, "the slop improves". Still slop, but better than whatever that fucking cookie thing is.

I don't fly Delta, however, in general, airlines' meals are already cooked and they put them in a warmer on the plane. Way easier than putting a bunch of them in the microwave.

1958 the cheapest round trip flight from New York to Paris was 483 dollars. Or 5400 dollars these days. These days on Economy you can get that for 450 dollars. 2750 dollars on business class (which is way better than the old flight was). If you are able to stomach a stop in London for 5800 dollars you can even get an international first class flight to Paris.

Those frugal plebs didn't fly on airplanes.
>>
>>517406927
Yeah who do those people think they are? They should have gotten rich by selling out their countrymen to immigrants. People who do that contribute heavily to society and are rewarded in kind for it.
>>
>>517405832

>>
>>517407106

Yeah and the meals are shit. In the past you'd get a meal on an hour flight.
>>
>>517396599
Maybe.
They might get better.
But only after they get really, really bad.
And soon.
If they don't though, it's going to get so much worse, a slow march to incomprehensible misery, forever, and then the only hope will be humans going extinct before absolutely everything does.

We are broken as a species, where any number of us that get together and live harmoniously with the world will be consumed by the capitalists that consume everything and think that's the meaning of life, winning.
The only fixing that is societal or genetic evolution, both of which are going to take a lot of external pressure in the form of some really, really hard times.

But seriously back then airfares were higher than todays business class fares. When you compare the quality of the seats and the service to today's business class you can notice how much better flights are these days. The difference is that in order to be affordable for us plebs they had to cut a lot of corners, which is why economy is so bad. But economy is about 1/10th of a price of a flight from the 50s or 60s.

Back then every airline was like La Compagnie which is a business class only airline. Because people who go on business class today were the only ones who could afford to fly in the 50s or 60s.

a guy with a drop-shipping business can make more money than a phd working on fusion or whatever. modern common wisdom will tell you that the scammer is therefore smarter because society has decided (much to the benefit of the rich) that the defining trait of intelligence is wealth. is that the intelligence that can fix complex technical problems?

if you think the answer is "no" or "not necessarily", then the next logical conclusion is that as long as the system rewards any strategy for the accumulation of wealth rather than only concrete technical merits, decadence will never stop, and conversely, the wealthy will eventually hamper, more than foster, technological progress

You call consumer slop good is the problem. The concept of citizen was replaced with consumer. Citizens have inherent rights consumerism has sought to remove. It's on the citizens for allowing it to be that way. Instead of flexing collective willpower you just gave in to how things are. Airplane food will be always microwaved slop nowadays. You can still experience real food on a ship or a train. But going from New York to LA is 3 days on a train vs 6 hours on a plane. Partly.
The bigger issue is
--in the Before Times, they had a helluva galley rig on planes to heat, assemble, and serve all that food, process the dishes/glassware/flatware, etc. --They also had to train stewardesses to include waitressing, and as you see there's an actual CHEF on the right. Not a super duper cook chef but a professional who could carve, serve wine, etc.
--Some flights had bartenders who made mixed drinks, so they were equipped with all the extras for that--little jars of olives, onions, syrups, etc.
But you're right--every ounce of that takes away a paying goyimcattle, and why go to the trouble when you turn flying into niggertransit and can throw bags of snack foods at them?
The Delta dog biscuit is a new one to me, but I haven't flown since before most of you were born.

We can sustain boomer level prosperity but I they just have autistic meltdowns at the mere thought that any other generation might have that

They added some aluminum reinforcement. That is not the same as "everything on that plane has changed by orders of magnitude" or really even "the wings themselves are made differently". In reality when you open up a wing panel or go up the hell hole of an NG everything in there is the same as on Classic and 99% the same as on a MAX. In fact Boeing can not legally change the aircraft more than 10% per iteration although with the MAX it could be said they went a little beyond that. Maybe 20%.

A /pol/ travelbros project is needed.
Forget waiting for the wife/gf.
Live now.
Imagine sitting in that comfy cabin with a couple bros and a bottle of Skapa Skiren, adding new terms to The List and reading Captain Slocum's diaries.

We can't have shit like this anymore explicitly because the first company to start doing it again would have to deal with the nigger question, which would mean in-flight stabbings and food smeared all over the windows, or banning them (which is illegal).

You can't have a functioning civilization with 6 different species of subhuman ruining everything.

I don't know if there will be a reckoning this century but I need you all to know that genes are real and influence behavior and intelligence, and that there are several different species of human on the planet right now.

Tickets are also a fraction of the cost compared to the 50s
So it's not really a loss, more like a trade off
> the 1950s, domestic flights were very expensive, with fares regulated by the government and based on mileage, restricting air travel to the wealthy and business travelers. For example, a round-trip ticket from Chicago to Phoenix in 1955 cost $138, which is the equivalent of about $1,168 in 2013 dollars.

i trust your assestment since you read like you know your shit.
but just the avionics themselves are drastically different on almost all airliners compared to what they were during the 60s.
and the wings have to reinforced regardless of the article i shared since the engines that are currently in circulation are big and heavy.

Well even if the food was a little better back then for the same money you can get a far better seat. Those old airline seats are bigger and cushier economy seats, which aren't even as good as today's premium economy seats. Let alone today's lie flat business class seats.

Also if you pay for business class (which is what 1960s economy tickets cost) you get to go into the airport lounge where you can eat fresh food before your journey.

I guess that's an option. I'd rather being food from outside the airport, as long as it isn't liquid you can

This. A 1961 flight from Chicago to LA was 43.70 dollars or 473 dollars today. Today one way that flight is 50 bucks or 95 bucks round trip.

Using volcanic ash for concrete.
This procedure takes longer compared to premixed concrete that quickly sets.

Iirc it was cancelled because it ran over a piece of metal that fell off a prior plane, even though the runway was supposed to be inspected beforehand. Blew a tire which caused some other damage, leading to it crashing into an apartment block.

UM ACKHTHTUHUHTHALLY, THE FLIGHTS WERE PROPORTIONATELY MORE EXPENSIVE, IF YOU WERE FLYING WITH YESTERDAY'S PRICES YOU'D BE PAYING $1300 A SEAT FOR COACH

So...it's good that negroes can fly? Most people do not actually need to be flying.

To have a good, accurate view of the future take all dystopian media you've ever encountered and remove any of the hopeful bits. Look at Elysium but remove all the space travel and magitech, look at the expanse but again remove all the space travel and just keep all the pollution and poverty and implosion. Hell even 1984 is more desirable than our future because at least the planet is largely depopulated by then and Miniplenty wasn't brought to you by Amazon™.
