The principles and teachings that still apply to our day (some things were directly done away with by God's command, others have to do with difference in location and technology) are very possible to live by and often bring more peace into one's life. Scenarios vary of course and even the book says we can't be perfect just yet, but we can still try our best and God as is written about will know that. For instance, can everyone help those who are poor, whether materially or emotionally? No. Some of us are the helpers and some are those who reach out for help. Can I always help? No(t yet). Yet I can often help a few while also taking the time out of my day to scale wealth and thus have more to help even more people in the future, even get some of them out of poverty for good. Things are looking very optimistic and in fact if I were more experienced/daring in the past I would already be in that far more capable position. Even if God did not exist applying those principles has put me in a better and better scenarios, not just materially but even with the way I end up having friends who go out of their way to help me not pick up on habits that they enjoy but know aren't the best, even from a purely practical standpoint. There are many scenarios in life like that, aren't there? You could be a strategic genius and either apply it to crime or to perfectly legal investing. You could develop great charm and sleep around or cultivate a healthy relationship and marriage. Often times we can make the effort to take the finer path and even if it's a little slower at first, we're ultimately better off for it.
