Here's the thing: we know these can be remotely operated. Even if they DID crack the AI necessary to make they function as shitty housekeeper robots using pure programing, the fact would remain that a remote operator COULD hijack your robot at any time without warning.
Imagine the risks involved with that. You come to trust this machine because you see it and give it orders every day, and with no warning at all suddenly its not your robot its a person in your house that can unlock your door and let people in, or log into your computer using footage of you entering the password yourself countless times, or even just steal something from you and run or stab you in your sleep.

It is *fucking inevitable* that this will become a vehicle for horrific crime, especially against the elderly or anyone else who is infirm enough that they would need this kind of robo-assistence in the first place and thus wouldn't be strong enough to stop it if it gets hijacked.

FWIW these can ONLY be remote operated. There is no autonomous operation because the software stack is laughably retarded.

Correct. At this point the AI part of it is literally a scam that they hope they can patch in later before anyone sues them over it.
But my point is, the fact that this remote-pilot protocol came first and is built in from the start? Its basically unthinkable that it won't always be there, waiting to be used, even if they DO somehow give it a better AI later. A hacker won't even need to come up with the mechanism themselves, it was made for them already, the only thing that keeps someone unauthorized from piloting it themselves is what is almost certainly just standard network security protocols.
This is the nightmare scenario of something that was basically designed to be an unsecure device asking to be hacked + the consequences of it being hacked are extremely dire if they do anything other than just fuck around and prank you. Best case scenario, a 12 year old starts taking the food out of your fridge and dropping it on the floor for laughs. Worst case scenario, you are a hostage in your own home.

>>
>>520547416
not sure about that one.
it can kind of be assumed that most people posting on 4chan are at least a little conscious of anonymity.
the bigger concern seems to be about it being used for crime, but that would be unlikely given the two high-res cameras on the front and no doubt any jeet controlling it would have their actions recorded.
i would say the bigger risk is if you have private or confidential information like bank statements or address information visible and that gets recorded and passed on to third parties.
i wouldn't get one on the grounds of it being $20k downpayment and i believe a $500 monthly fee and chores don't take anywhere near the time required to justify that expense.

So don't connect it to the internet, network them and open source software. Ez. I want my 2B model.
>>
>>520548134
>network them and open source software
It doesn't make fucking sense still, because the robot required humans to operate certain tasks.
Their whole business model is built around, "don't want strangers cleaning your house? let them tour around in a robot"
BUT IF YOUR CONCERN IS PEOPLE STEALING THINGS IN YOUR HOUSE, THEN THIS JUST ADDS AN EXTRA STEP TO LETTING CRIMINALS INTO YOUR HOME. IT'S NOT SECURE. /caps

The benefits do not outweigh the burdens.
This is, at best, a service industry tool for brick and mortar businesses.
It's a waste of technology until it can perform tasks autonomously.
Robot dogs are doing this.
>>
>>520548134
internet is required for the robot in op, the neo. even once it has enough ai development for full automation the computation would still be done on external servers no doubt.
definitely could do with making it look more aesthetic and less creepy though.

Just curious, thread, How long is a LONG CON by an AI. 10 years, 4? an accelerated 2?
Say a rogue AI did break out, "Win" the stock market and bank billions in crypto, then started manufacturing these in an ever growing plant, in the middle of nowhere, that only used robots, and sold these for an almost absurdly low price to place an army of these that was in the billions.

realistically...How long would it take to have the capacity to KILL the entire world population?
