I can relate to many of the reasons anons have given for staying here so long, but the single most important reason to why I haven't left is simple. This is the only website I am aware of where users can communicate with each other without some kind of popularity metric associated with each post. simply put there are no likes, comments, favorites, hearts, view counts, etc. that can be used to manipulate the user base into believing a particular idea is worthwhile. Sure there are (you)'s but the posts that get the most replies are gets which can be forced through things like scripts but they are so few and far between it can't really be weaponized. There used to be a pasta floating around describing this idea that the only thing that gives an idea weigh here is the merit of the idea itself, not the metrics associated with the post, but i haven't seen it in years
