I unironically think the problem is we have a bunch of cunts who don't read enough, or at all, and then a bunch who read way fucking too much, and don't act.

If you don't read at least one decent book a month, read more.

If you don't exercise at least one hour a day, exercise more.

If you don't think it's the jews, read more.

If you know it's the jews, train more.

I have a friend who used to think like this (he's Indian BTW, make of that what you will), but I eventually convinced him of the benefits of fiction.
Considering how frequently we use terminology from the novel 1984 on this board, hating fiction would seem incongruous.

It all depends on what you are reading. Reading fiction, vicarious reading, fantasy etc. etc. is strictly passive entertainment no different in essence than watching a movie etc. Reading something like philosophy is only slightly better it is mostly just sort of an indulgent coffee table sort of "wheel spinning" type of thing. However, ultimately written word is just information and it *can* be very beneficial. Learning about a thing through written word is fine. Technical manuals, certain types of textbooks, guides, etc etc. this is a very pragmatic and useful way to spend time.

It is fiction. It's a narrative about things that never happened.
But to see similarities between the fictional setting and the real world proves its worth.
To take another Orwell piece, consider Animal Farm. It's obviously allegorical but that doesn't make it non-fiction; animals don't talk in reality.

It's more about there being limited hours in a day, a week, a year, your life etc.

The amount of time spent in completely passive entertainment should be minimal whether it is reading on some fantasy book, or vidya, or movies etc. It's a comparative waste of time. Even if let's say it was late at night and you were laying in bed and had an hour to kill... do you not have actual hobbies etc that you could be looking at a technical book to learn more about in that time etc.?

Give me an example what are you learning about by reading fiction. Not trying to be a jackass I am just curious. See in my case it is simple- I like plants, forestry, landscaping etc. My nightstand has a bunch of botany textbooks, ag manuals, forestry books, print outs from the ag extensions, field guides, climate almanacs etc. on it.

The only time I look at those books is before bed etc. when I cannot literally go outside and actually do things.

big brother and o'brian are the 2 halves of the demiurge, one more remote, the other more immediate. many other examples, like skynet and terminator, emperor and vader, sauron and saruman, ming and klytus, burns and smithers, and snowball and napoleon.
smith is taken to room 101 to be tortured. 101 is the 26th prime number, which is important because the gematria of YHVH is 26. it also represents the 2 pillars jachin and boaz with the 0 being the doorway in between.
the telescreen is a way of showing bb's omniscience. they are all seeing and all hearing, and are ubiquitous.
masons and occultists in general syncretize YHVH with saturnian deities in general, but more specifically set from egyptian myth. he is also associated with pigs. master blaster is another good example of a dyad associated with pigs.
when the protagonist has sex in a movie, it usually relates to receiving the holy spirit, aka male and female becoming one.

Financial outcome? No. Productive yes. It isnt about money it is about doing something active not passive. Building things, improving property, growing things, making things, etc etc. These may not have financial gain but they are active and constructive rather than vicarious and passive.

In fact many of the things I do as a hobby cost me money.. lol something I am very well aware of. But they are constructive and worthwhile and long term. Tgere is a great long term satisfaction in building a tangible thing and seeing improvement around you because of something you did yourself. The only nonconstructive hobby I have is that I will often just spend time in the woods, particularly in spring. Piddling around looking at plants and stuff. This technically helps me learn about plants of course but zi really do it because I enjoy it. But I make an exception here. There is a difference between having a fascination with the natural world vs the creation of some random persons fantasy scribbling.

I loves reading many years ago. Recently started reading fiction and listen to audiobooks. But I got shocked looking at what's currently available.

80% of the books are by female authors
80% of the books are crime-slop or female romance slop
80% of the books are woke slop
I love horror and all modern horror seem to be "gothic horror" slop which isn't horror at all it's pretty much female romance slop as well. Not scary at all.

You really need to look for a needle in a haystack to find a good book. When you walk into a bookstore or looking at audiobook catalogue you can practically smell the estrogen in the air.

I can't find any modern "male kino". Nothing like All Quiet On The Western Front or Ghost Story by Peter Straub or Lovecraft or American Psycho, Fight Club and other Chuck Palaniuk books, Fear And Loathing in Las Vegas and so on.

So just like video games and other nerd cultures, literature seem to have been hijacked by vagina creatures and trannies. Though I don't know if it's because men stopped reading books or if this shit that caters to females made men stop reading books.

I find the concept that some random person I don't even know would be writing a "manual for my life" as a big problem. I don't see the logic in reading more fiction so I can learn to enjoy reading more fiction kek. Again we can keep rehashing this... but it is totally passive vicarious entertainment. That's the issue. Fantasy behavior is not a hobby. It is just a time killer and sort of a low brow one at that. At best it is a way to waste time passively (we already have such limited time in life). At worst it is actually mentally unhealthy.

You're immersing yourself repeatedly in some fantasy world of some rando you don't even know for extended periods of time. I actually view that as someone unhealthy. I don't buy the imagination thing either, immersing yourself in these other works sort of pollutes your own natural imagination both consciously and subconsciously.

I read about 500 pages a month.
Right now I am reading A Tale of Two Cities, and I am struggling with Victorian English. People spoke way more complex back them, and Dickens way of explaining stuff with allegories make knots in my ESL brain.
Next book will probably be Faust (in portuguese, because I am not fluent on German).

I highly recommend as a hobby. It helps to cultivate discipline that can harvested for other aspects of your life, like, work.

Lowest aura is self help and feminist literature. Next to that is any of those shitty books news pundits shill. Young adult books will get you laughed at. History books are higher aura if they aren’t centered around subjects considered cringe like the Roman Empire or WW2. Cormac McCarthy is high aura. Same with a lot of classic literature. Shakespeare is good if you don’t act pretentious about it. You can get away with reading epic fantasy or sci fi as long as it isn’t young adult trash. Nobody’s going to look at a huge Sanderson book because his books are long and to caveman brains “long book=smart reader”

When the world is presented to you as a lie. The best way to understand it is to understand fiction. As such I would argue that fantasy light novels such as wuxia and xianxia are great for the development of political ideas for red pilled anons. A large amount of zog schemes and psyops are fantasy and reading fantasy novels improves a red pilled individuals ability at spotting them. While the other books available for you have been available for the masses for a hundred years with very little effect for nationalism. Therefore the books that are available and advertised for us are also a psyop. Because these books try to drag you into the author’s normie narrative. But to be honest a retard will always be a retard. So it might be pointless for you faggots to read since you have been born as plebs and have commoner blood.

Fiction forces the reader to expand his or her imaginative capacity. It can also help develop empathy. It can provide a simulation of events to preprogram response. It's entertaining. Good fiction develops personal character and resiliency.
>>
>>527849435
I think that is the craziest nonsense I ever heard. I really dont think painting a mental image of someone else's fantasy world in your mind based on their words is quite as much as big a deal as you think it is. I mean marginally more involved thab watching TV or playing vidya perhaps but not a major jump. And even so it doesnt really mean all that much to imagine fantasy worlds that is more or less ehat daydreaming is- it is not a particularly cosntructive activity under any conditions imho.

Reading fiction books for entertainment can never develop character and resilience. Those are things which are much harder to develop and it is honestky laughable and almost insane to think you could get them from reading a fiction book.

I'm far from a book snob and I enjoy reading fiction, but I always get the same feeling I get when gaming which is disappointment, guilt, and an overall sense of not be fulfilled. Nothing wrong with it. I look at it like a good way to learn things. I try not to make a big deal out of it but I get a lot more out of reading books than I do from browsing the internet most of the time (unless it's web browsing something related to what I was reading).

I read a lot of research papers and non-fiction books. Although the fiction I have read I liked a lot. The Worm Ourobouros (or whatever it is called) is the fiction book I've been working on for months and it's probably my favorite book right now.
Latest book I was reading was the biography of Napoleon by Roberts, specifically I skipped to the Chapter titled "Austerlitz" around page 350.

I didn't realize how much can be learned from Napoleon and how it can be applied to other areas of life. I recommend you anons at LEAST read that chapter. The biography is very well written. Also check out the Worm Ourobouros, Tolkien and CS Lewis liked it a lot.

The sign is a subtle joke. The shop is called "Sneed's Feed & Seed", where "feed" and "seed" both end in the sound "-eed", thus rhyming with the name of the owner, Sneed. The sign says that the shop was "Formerly Chuck's", implying that the two words beginning with "F" and "S" would have ended with "-uck", rhyming with "Chuck". So, when Chuck owned the shop, it would have been called "Chuck's Feeduck and Seeduck".

I read everything when I was young the small-town library ran out of books to read and had to order more just to shut me up.
I stopped reading when 26 yrs were old that was when I decided I wanted to do the things I had read about and went and did them. That was 30 yrs ago and now the only thing I read now is whatever is on the screen.

Fiction is a concrete instantiation of abstract concepts (platonic ideals even). If you want to learn about relationships, it may be easier to learn from a few concrete instances than ingest an abstract generalised treatment of it.
Unlike nonfiction, fiction can also warp reality, to exaggerate and highlight specific parts.
When I read Spice and Wolf as an adolescent, I learnt, among other things, that you can trust your partner to be rational and balancing their emotions with reality. It led me to one model for relationships which was a partnership (in the business structure sense) where the thing being manufactured was happiness, security etc.
