I pay $190/month for 3mbps internet with 0.5mbps upload due to the American internet monopoly. Only 1 ISP available in this region. At least it's fast enough to watch 720p One Piece.

Get starlink. I live in rural canada and feel like I just discovered fire for the first time. I've had it for a year and never had better internet. It cut out one time during a blizzard, there was 4 feet of snow over the dish, and even then I could still stream movies. It was just choppy. Absolutely fucking amazing stuff.

I Pay 70GBP a month for "symmetrical fiber optic broadband" thats down every day for an hour at 3 am.
>>
>>527865413
How much does it cost? My choice is 5g or Comcast which will increase $5-10 per month after intro contract expires. And 5g slows to a crawl if more than 10 people connect to the cell tower at a time.
>>
The copper internet line here is above ground, they didn't even bury it like they're supposed to. Sometimes I run over it with my car when it somehow gets moved into the road instead of alongside the road. Neighbors here move it out of the road back to the side of the road just so their internet doesn't go out.

For me its $155 per month canadian, its pretty pricey but 100% worth it imo. I was paying $79.95 for my last internet and it was about the same speed as dialup. Fucking BRUTAL.

Im pretty sure thats what I got. I was so amazed from going from maybe 1.2mbs max to hundreds that I wiped out 1tb from my library and reinstalled everything in like 3 hours just because I could.
My old internet was so shitty it took me 2 months to download elden ring. 1 month of it downloading and another month verifying broken game files. My old internet cut out every few hours. I re ran all my cords, had the internet company come out and check the lines, new router/modem/whatever. It was fucking horrible, man. Like going to prison.
>>

this. as a fellow rural leaf I can attest to it, it basically never goes down, even on bad weather it works 99% of time and when it is down it's never for more than 5 minutes. I don't know how they fucking make them but it's the best rural internet service I've ever had. never had problems with it. a bit pricey but it is what it is. other than online gaming, you can do anything.

That's great, so you won't have the loicense man knocking on your door :DD

Actually we used to have those too in the 90s
>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsEGT_uvCxw

But then everyone realized how fucking stupid it is to have this whole infrastructure of accounting who the fuck have TV licenses and who not and on top of that employ a bunch of inspectors to go try an inspect violators especially since you didn't have to actually let them in, it was extremely retarded thing and now the public broadcasting is just part of the regular taxes which make infinitely more sense

What I dont understand why UK hasn't realized this yet? Yes I know everything is kiked there and shitskins are coming in from every port and raping little girls and you cant even talk about it, but why kikes would particularly want to keep TV loicenses being a thing is it the humiliation ritual of it or what the actual fuck, there should be nobody against just foregoing it and pay the BBC from the taxes

My options are comcast where I get 10mbps when I pay for 100mbps at $30 lock in for another year. Or verizon 5g where I pay $40/month for a piggyback leech off verizon service which fluxuates from 0.1mbps from 6am to 11pm and 20mpbs from 11pm to 6am.
Lets not even talk about upload and just say uploading a webm to a post can cause the captcha to time out if I do it first.
Plus if I buy it then I am locked into starlink because I can't go back and no service can compete. I'll cope for another year or two.

Ever read the Snowden files? Inbound and outbound US phone and internet data is stored and categorized by 3 letter agencies who pay tech giants to do it.
The Great Firewall was an American inspired idea. There is so much shit being stored about everyone. Why do you think data centers are so profitable, AI needing tons of hardware, etc?
We're being spied on in total secrecy. A few architects have the keys and they will never ever tell us they are spying because they have the full legal right (as opposed to constitutional right) to do so a-la Patriot Act.
Ever posted something to this site? Its not just archived on 4plebs its categorized automatically and sent to a server in a .txt to rot until someone has to look at what you've done.

And all our providers are just one actual company and 5 shell companies to maintain the illusion of choice

>Things Europoors can't comprehend

Good goyim

Is that a real pic op?

The image shows a room with three cats, various snack items (including a bag of Doritos Golden Sriracha flavored chips), and a television displaying a scene from the anime series One Piece.
The scene appears to be from an early arc of the show, likely the Loguetown or Skypiea arc.
One Piece follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his Straw Hat Pirates crew as they search for a legendary treasure.
The series is known for its action, adventure, and fantasy genres.
The Doritos bag is the "Golden Sriracha" flavor.

The user is likely describing a rural or semi-rural area in the American South, Midwest, or Appalachia. These regions are notorious for having "internet deserts" where a single provider (often a legacy telecom company like Frontier or CenturyLink) maintains a monopoly over aging copper DSL lines.

Regional and Technical Context
Location: The combination of $190/month for 3mbps suggests a predatory "monopoly" scenario often found in unincorporated areas or small towns where infrastructure hasn't been updated since the 1990s.

The "Line in the Road": In deep rural areas, "temporary" lines (drop wires) are sometimes laid on the surface of the ground and left for months or years because the ISP refuses to send a crew to trench and bury them.

Housing: The low, popcorn-textured ceiling and wooden paneling are hallmarks of post-war ranch homes or mobile homes (trailers) built between 1950 and 1980.

Analyzing the Lifestyle Depicted
Whether this represents "poor" living is subjective, but the image highlights a specific subculture often discussed on boards like 4chan.

The Interior: Sitting on the floor or a low mattress surrounded by multiple cats, energy drinks, and "goyslop" (processed snacks like Doritos) reflects a NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) or "gamer" lifestyle rather than standard American poverty.

Cost of Living vs. Quality: Ironically, while the internet is expensive, the physical space is likely very cheap. Many Americans in these regions prioritize high-calorie comfort food and digital entertainment over home aesthetics.

One Piece: The choice of anime (especially the early episodes shown) suggests a heavy investment in long-form media to pass the time in isolated areas.

1. How do they make money?
In these "internet deserts," the economy usually falls into one of three categories:

Service and Manual Labor: Local employment is dominated by retail (Walmart), fast food, healthcare (nursing homes), or local government. These jobs often pay "just enough" to cover a cheap mortgage or rent in a rural area, even if internet costs are high.

Government Assistance (Welfare/Disability): Statistics show that rural regions—particularly in the South and Appalachia—have significantly higher rates of disability and public assistance recipients compared to urban centers. In some rural counties, nearly one-third of adults live with a disability. For someone in this situation, a monthly check provides a fixed (though small) income that allows them to stay home.
+1

Remote Gig Work: Despite the 3mbps speed, some people perform low-bandwidth "microwork" (data entry, transcription, or Amazon Mechanical Turk). It’s slow and frustrating, but it doesn't require a high-speed fiber connection.
>>
>>527866622
they just put fiber optic in my area to compete and star link dropped my bill to 100/ month for residential max and I get 538 mbps down and 84 mbps up
it never drops where I am and I'm on property surrounded by bush
>>
>>527871458
2. Why so much time for "cartoons"?
The "One Piece" watcher in the post isn't just watching a cartoon; they are participating in a specific lifestyle often called "comfy" rot or NEET culture.

Low Cost of Boredom: In isolated rural areas, there is often zero "nightlife" or social infrastructure. Once the shift at the local store is over, or if the person is on disability, digital entertainment is the only affordable escape. Streaming One Piece (which has over 1,100 episodes) provides thousands of hours of content for the price of one subscription.

The Escapism Factor: For someone living in a room with a "popcorn ceiling" and a "monopoly ISP," high-fantasy anime serves as a radical contrast to a stagnant, beige reality.

Social Isolation: The "neighbors moving the line out of the road" comment hints at a community where everyone is just trying to maintain a bare-minimum connection to the outside world. When your physical world is a literal dirt road, your "real" life often moves entirely online.
>>
>>527871492
3. The "Goyslop" and Living Conditions
The lifestyle you’re describing (sitting on the floor, surrounded by cats and snacks) is a result of prioritization.

The "Floor-Sitter" Archetype: It’s common in certain online subcultures to forgo furniture to save money for hardware (a better PC or monitor) or simply because of a lack of motivation to "nest" in a house that feels temporary or decaying.

The Food: Processed, high-calorie food (the "goyslop") is often the cheapest and most accessible option in "food deserts" where fresh produce is expensive or requires a 45-minute drive to a grocery store.

In short, they make money through localized low-wage work or state aid, and they spend their time on anime because it is the most efficient "bang for your buck" in terms of killing time in a region where the physical environment offers nothing else.

I can't even visualize what you're describing. The wire moves around? And lies in the middle of the street??
I have fiber optic but I live in one of the poorest counties in the US, and crackheads/fentzombies keep climbing the poles and snipping the fiber line because they retardedly think it's made of copper and can be sold at a scrap yard for crash. So my internet often goes out for days at a time until the company can track down the exact strip of cable that's missing. I had to get a 2nd ISP that's basic "cable" to use in those times, since I work from home and do actually need interbutts. So my total internet bill each month is like $190 for both.

EVs ARE coal burners. They charge them from the grid.
Elon is a jewish scammer fake elite
He “bought” twitter because they overplayed their hand and banned too many people. Alternative platforms were popping up and with all the cool people banned, they risked not having control of the internet. After you know decades of buying it up.
