I started wondering about something today. What is it that actually defines a person? I mean say there's a guy called John. What defines John? Of course there's the physical, but that's not really what I'm thinking of. I'm more interested in all the rest of what makes up "someone". What is it? Is it behavior? Is it opinions?Then I did a thought experiment. What if all of that which we think of when we think of a person, which we think of as "them", as defining them, beyond the physical, were a product of society; school, media etc.Would what you think of as "them" really be them? Or would you really be looking through them into the world beyond, like a window?Certainly we can say that a very large part of behavior and opinions in fact is determined by outside forces.So that begs the question, how many percent of "them" is actually them, and how many percent is just looking straight through them at something else?Is there even a "them" at all?
