It comes to no surprise that Australians on 4chan's International board have historically been bitter and jealous of European Americans. Australia was established by Great Britain as a penal colony to address the problem of overcrowded prisons following the loss of its American colonies after the American Revolution. Australians seem to struggle with their identity. As Britain's position in the world has declined, so too has Aussies' willingness to associate themselves with Englishmen. Instead, Australia has one small and very overstated rebellion (Eureka), which is becoming increasingly popular as a reference point for divergence between motherland and colony, in no small part thanks to immigration from Asia, and a paper-based 'crisis' of constitution fifty years ago. Technology has made the world a smaller place, and unfortunately it seems to have brought globalization to Australia before it had properly developed a culture of its own. This makes a bitter and resentful people for what "could have been"
