I find that prep is the most important part of shaving. If you can wash your face well it allows your soap to stick better to your face and thus makes the shave easier. Conversely since i prep properly i can do more paces 2 WTG/2 ATG/ 1 Across the grain. I look better with a clean face but that's just me.
