You could openly bribe your constituents which is fine, it's the other way around now some special interest group bribes the politician.Only citizens could vote which meant you did military service and had a family/land. However you did not get an individual vote each town/tribe was given a single vote to decide on amoungst themselves which is again fine. Most small communities can reach a consensus.If some crisis emerged a dictator was nominated for a 6mos term.There was no splitting the public against each other or even career politicians many dictators went back to private life after. The senators were not paid. The worse system was Athenian democracy because the voters had too much power and were well known to be retards that got bamboozled by slick rhetoric so they almost destroyed ancient Athens with a series of extremely dumb decisions like voting to execute all their military leaders and voting to invade Syracuse which was an enormous failure. It is the reason public education was started because they wanted to teach the plebs to not believe flimsy rhetoric so easily.
