Both english and swedish had way more fusional grammar back in the day, they just lost all of it. But you can still see the common core (e.g. perfect tense formed with possessive verb (have done/habe gemacht), analytic future (will/werde + verb), root alternation (do -> did -> done/thun -> thut -> gethan)). Russian is much more different in the structural way, I can't say anything about french though
