Usual suspects

>Scott B. Halstead, a prominent virologist who served as an officer and director in the Health Sciences Division of the Rockefeller Foundation from 1972 to 1984, conducted significant research on arboviruses, including work related to hantavirus. During his earlier career with the US Army, he was assigned to the 406th Medical General Laboratory in Tokyo, which is described as a "world-leading center of field and laboratory research on Japanese encephalitis and hantavirus diseases."

>Scott B. Halstead
Really, look him up.
>A former president of the global health organization American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH), he also co-founded the Children's Vaccine Initiative, and founded the Pediatric Dengue Vaccine Initiative. He has published hundreds of papers and book chapters about viruses and diseases.

>In 2003, he founded the Pediatric Dengue Vaccine Initiative (PDVI) at the International Vaccine Institute, with $55M from the Gates Foundation. PDVI was founded to promote and fund basic science and applied clinical research to accelerate the development of dengue vaccines.[18] He served as director of research and development from 2003 to 2010.

Already blew quarantine. The lady whose husband died started showing symptoms on a 100 person passenger plane back to Joburg, then she started puking in the airport. This was before it was identified so the other 99 people are… ?
>>
I. Chronological Timeline of Events

Phase 1: The Initial Exposure (Late March)Late March 2026: Passengers arrive in Argentina. This is the peak of hantavirus season in the Southern Hemisphere. The Dutch couple (Cases 1 & 2) and the British passenger (Case 3) spend time in the Tierra del Fuego region before boarding.April 1: The M/V Hondius departs Ushuaia, Argentina, with 147 passengers and crew on board. All passengers passed initial health screenings.

Phase 2: The First Wave (Shipboard Deaths)April 6: Case 1 (Dutch Male, 70) begins showing symptoms: fever, headache, and gastrointestinal distress. April 11: Death of Case 1. He dies on board due to rapid respiratory failure. At this point, the cause is unknown. April 12–23: The ship continues its itinerary through the South Atlantic (South Georgia, Tristan da Cunha). No other passengers report severe illness during this "quiet" incubation window.
>>
>>534503510
Phase 3: The Second Wave (Human-to-Human?)

April 24:The Ship: The body of Case 1 is offloaded at Saint Helena. His wife (Case 2) disembarks to handle repatriation. New Case: Case 3 (British Male) presents to the ship’s doctor with pneumonia symptoms.
April 25: Case 2 (Dutch Female, 69) boards an Airlink flight to Johannesburg. She begins feeling unwell mid-flight.
April 26: Death of Case 2. She collapses at OR Tambo International Airport and dies at the hospital.
April 27: Case 3 (British Male) is medically evacuated from Ascension Island to Johannesburg. He is placed in the ICU.
May 2: Death of Case 4 (German Female) occurs on board the ship.
>>
>>534503610
May 4: South African labs officially confirm Hantavirus in Case 2 (Airport) and Case 3 (ICU).

May 5: Two crew members (one British, one Dutch) report acute symptoms and are prepared for "urgent" evacuation.
>>
>>534503226
>Hantavirus is primarily transmitted to humans through the inhalation of airborne particles from infected rodent urine, droppings, or saliva. This typically occurs when contaminated materials are disturbed by activities such as sweeping, vacuuming, or cleaning enclosed spaces like cabins or sheds, causing virus-laden dust to become airborne.
>>
>>534503647
II. Probable Sources of Infection

Public health investigators (WHO/NICD) are currently balancing three primary theories regarding how the virus entered and spread:

1. The "Argentine Primary" (Environmental Source)
Probability: High for Case 1.

The Theory: Case 1 was likely infected in Argentina (possibly a rural area or wood-shed exposure in Tierra del Fuego) shortly before boarding. Given the 1–8 week incubation period, he began shedding the virus exactly as the cruise started.

2. The "Cabin Transmission" (Human-to-Human Source)
Probability: Very High for Case 2 (Wife).

The Theory: Case 2 was the primary caregiver for her husband from April 6 to April 11. The 14-day gap between his symptoms and her collapse matches the "Andes-style" serial interval. This suggests she contracted the virus directly from him while in the confined space of their ship cabin.

3. The "Ship Circulation" (Fomite/Aerosol Source)
Probability: Growing (Cases 3, 4, and Crew).

The Theory: The infection of the German passenger and two crew members is the most "boding" part of the timeline. Because the crew did not share a cabin with the Dutch couple, it suggests the virus may have been transmitted via:

Shared dining/social areas: Brief exposures during the "prodromal" phase when patients were coughing.

Medical staff exposure: Crew members treating the sick without knowing it was a high-consequence pathogen.

Which means this ship has been cruising the ports of south america for the better part of a month already, with its passengers and crew making contact with the locals in port cities during excursion, resupply, and crew exchange.

Evacuation details

https://oceanwide-expeditions.com/blog/onboard-update-m-v-hondius-5-may-2026-19-15-hrs-cet#:~:text=The%20medical%20evacuation%20of%20two,medically%20evacuated%20to%20the%20Netherlands.

>The medical evacuation of two individuals currently requiring urgent medical care, and the individual associated with the guest who passed away on 2 May, will occur using two specialized aircraft that are en route to Cape Verde. From here, the patients are to be medically evacuated to the Netherlands. At this stage, we do not have an exact timeline.

>Once these three individuals have been safely transferred from the vessel and are in transit to the Netherlands, the m/v Hondius will begin repositioning. Our plan is to proceed to the Canary Islands, either Gran Canaria or Tenerife, which will take 3 days of sailing. Discussions are ongoing with relevant authorities. This will be shared when concrete plans are available.
>>
A good death is its own reward
>>
>>534504423
>Are there sisters ships to this that follow the same route days apart?
The vessel m/v Hondius belongs to Oceanwide Expeditions which is a small time firm operating only four ships, all specialized ice breakers as they are predominantly a firm that offers cruises to/through the arctic and antarctic.

So odds of a direct sister ship picking that same crew up are low. Conversely, due to their small size odds of them employing freelance crew that is pivoting between ships of different operating firms, is a depressing non-zero factor to consider.
>>
>>534504907
This has changed multiple times
After the last inspection by cape verde yesterday they were point blank refusing to let the ship dock to get them off

What if the spirit airlines thing wasn’t due to cost, but the higher ups knew another pandemic was coming so they closed up shop before they went bankrupt?
>>
>>534505194
This is real. It's basically a 30 day death timer. You get ~20 days to spread it all over with a mild nothing-burger cough. Then you get a heavier cough, short breath, etc. Then you get a fever. Then 2 days later you're dead. There is no known cure or anti-gen. Your body is capable of storming up a fever capable of boiling the pest out of you, but the major question is if your body itself can survive what it has to do to itself. Even if you're at peak health, that's no guarantee. 40% mortality rate. If you get it - you might simply, literally, be cooked with no chance of escape.
>>
>>534505628
Nice fear...but unless it's some new type or lab experiment, it's a nothingburger. Outbreaks happen from time to time
>>
>>534505464
Which is why it's mind-boggling that the Dutch are even trying. They're inviting death with open arms. The odds of this escaping into - quite literally - the most densely urbanized country in the entirety of fucking Europe, which is also *the* major industrial and commercial transfer hub into the *entire* European backlands...
yikes. Whoever made this call, is grade A++ moron-material.
>>
>>534504307
If they already know it's an urgent "We need to lockdown 2.0 right fucking now" wouldn't they just immediately call an emergency conference to make that clear? If they have the results and their thoughts were "meh it can wait until tomorrow" that kind of sounds like it's not the end of the world
>>
>>534505788
more to it
there is at least 6 other governments involved including yours
they will all need to be notified
a significant number of people on the flight with the women went onto other international flights
UK, Germany and the US were mentioned
>>
>>534505754
It's the novel Andes strain, most likely. Not one of the older 'regular' ones, which are still quite a storm to ride out - but are ultimately more of a nothingburger. The Andes one is vicious. It has teeth.
>>
>>534505765

My companies International operations are located in the Netherlands... if they lockdown my stock price is going to shit the bed
>>
>>534505765
I think you might be legally obligated
its your ship and company, the company cant deal with it so the buck lands with your government

I mean you could get out of it but its not a good look
>>
>>534505788
>"We need to lockdown 2.0 right fucking now"
And you really think they'd actually be able to pull that off with all the shittiness of Covid lockdowns still burned fresh into people's memories?
Lolno- ofcourse not. That internal debriefing is probably going to focus on how they can quietly prepare and slowly edge the populace into the notion that they're all fucked for a few years again. And not so much on rapid prevention.
>>
>>534506025
>I think you might be legally obligated
Not in the case of a public health hazard. You might be required to offer on-site aid in emergency quaraintine hospitals - but you wouldn't be required to allow the infected to actually be repatriated and hospitalized, which is apparently what the numpties in charge came up with.
>>
>>534505978
So this shit is potentially going to already be all over the world at this point and I should cancel my flights then? I'm assuming the novel Andes virus is airborne enough where I don't want to be in a plane for 13 hours.
>>
>>534502464
>south african parliament
Why would anyone care about disease opinions from a country that still lives off of bush meat?
>>
>>534506352
Given the WHO already did trace on all the passengers that were on the same flight as the Johannesberg puker; and that they apparently even *cancelled* the tail-end fan-out of that trace in lieu of the planned governmental debrief on the sequencing results to cement that it is indeed the Andes strain- yeah; I would start cancelling your travel plans.

I would probably also start thinking about TP and canned food.
>>
>>534506418
Because Johannesberg is where her flight took the wife of patient zero, before she puked out her stomach contents in the middle of the public of the airport, collapsed, was rushed to ICU, and died a few hours later.
>>
>>534505978
It's not endemic. It won't be endemic. Not worried. Maybe some local lockdowns

Spain has confirmed they will receive the ship in the Canaries, everyone onboard will be examined then repatriated via sterile transport

>>534507529
You're not wrong about that part, I'll admit. The point though, is that it seems the world at large is intent at treating Johannnesberg and by extension South Africa as 'ground zero' for starting the spread. That's why they're getting the debrief first. It's probably meant to retroactively, in the event of any a-posteriori investigation, wash clean the hands of everyone involved - this debriefing being meant to illustrate the WHO did everything possible to contain the problem at its roots. That's all it is, really- all smoke and mirrors.

If the situation would indeed be fucked, the WHO would also know that no matter how they'd intervene at this point, would no longer truly matter. We'd already be fucked either way. So they're just going with the office-politics play that results in the least long-term damage to their own reputation and officials, making the best of a situation that is already a total loss.

They obviously preplanned this and want to infect as many people as possible before people can even react. Of course it would be during an economic crash they failed hiding. Of course it would be right before WW3 so it keeps people complacent and not rioting. I am so fucking tired of globohomo ruining all my plans. I am so fucking angry.

Well, shit, if all the future windchime legislators (whom have got a personal target packet on my life and everything I've "uncharitably" said about their unhallowed halls of corporate whoredom, and said about US govt using havana syndrome causing neuroweapons on me; yes future windchime legislators reading this, because you know all that, that very much means I want to and intend to (LEGALLY) murder all of you pieces of kike-compromised traitorous shit who are covering up literally some of the highest crime against humanity possible and how the (illegitimate) secret breakaway US functions), got briefed into the next plandemic scenario weeks ago (because I literally know from personal experience that legislators are apparently routine briefed about such surface-world-narrative important things (like my entire life in order for them to be able to call-back "discredit" anything I have or will talk about in the future) and brought into not-surface-world-happen situations that actually are happening but since they are beholden to the illegitimate breakaway US govt they'll know that real job as a legislator will be to cover it up such shadow govt's existence and to build the surface world infrastructure for the breakaway black budget weapon systems (of which are literally mind reading neuronal manipulating continuous torture systems) system to be eventually be rolled out) for octoroonhuntus to know to pull off this "convenient stock sell off windfall" stunt; then that means there's a very high chance that the ZOG captured surface world US govt is behind the release of this virus, and they used their new SA chabad base and world "leader" puppet in Argentina to do it.

So, were all you senators told that this new pandemic was urgently "needed" to avoid a global/US economic collapse from the strait closure fallout, or was it more to avoid the Iran debacle spiraling into a wider engagement against the CCP that the US would now be depleted-stocks-fated to lose?

Here's what's actually going to happen
World agencies and governments will learn on the poor helpless Africans to say and do things that'll be used as the template for absolutely godawful cluster fuck responses to what is normally not an issue in any country that has a health system that doesn't let AIDS run rampant in the streets. Once the narrative has been established by the South African stooges, it'll get rubber stamped by the WHO because they have zero problems with authorizing a massively oppressive regime, and then Western governments will try to adopt the new standard as if their hands are tied.

Still dont' know HOW contagious it is.

MERS has a very similar death rate, but you need prolonged hours of contact to catch it.

SARS is slightly less contagious than the flu and could only be transmitted once symptoms showed, and was only barely contained(the fact it started in Asian nations with a heavy masking culture and 'listen to authority' culture helped)

COVID was too contagious to contain.

We already know the incubation period is weeks. One of the good things about SARS was the shrt incubation made tracking easy. If it's that contagious or more and the South African case breaks containment that's that. That's it. It's over and 1 in 4 people globally will die
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HaYV41NbM9k
Here's an old Forensic Files on the Navajo outbreak and the initial discovery of new world Hantavirus.

The strain on the ship is closely related, being a strain from Argentina suspected of being contagious unlike the one in the video, but the symptoms and outcomes are identical.
>>
>>534513143
> 1/4 will die
It really depends on how contagious the virus is. If it's not that contagious then it might not spread nearly fast enough to do that kind of damage
>>
>>534513143
Yeah, doesn’t help that patient 2 was symptomatic on a commercial flight for 5 hours, with 100 other people, two days before she died. And the other 100 went to AT LEAST 3 European countries and the US.

SARS had similar events, but the short incubation period, requirement for symptoms to spread, and the fact it was largely in Asia with heavy masking and "listen to the government" cultures stopped it.

If Andes hantavirus was really that contagious it would've already become a huge issue worldwide. Unless this is literally the first strike from a new extra contagious strain I think we're likely to be fine

First off, it's an emerging issue in rural Argentina and we don't know the full extent because Milei left WHO. We had one suspected case of human to human prior to this last week, that's it, and it was iffy.

Secondly and more importantly, according to anecdotal reports, the cruise was full of a bird watching group and Patient Zero was known for running off into weird places to look for animals and getting right up in their faces/nests. This could be a brand new substrain Birdwatcher General over there infected himself with in Argentina
>>
>>534514038
It's the gateway to the arctic and if you count cruise ships it's hundreds of thousands of visitors a year. Even the most conservative estimate is like 120k. Per year
>>
>>534513836
>less this is literally the first strike from a new extra contagious strain I think we're likely to be fine
Patient Zero was a member of the bird watching group on the cruise and according to social media reports from people in the group who knew him was running off to go poke at animals in the wild and get his face up in their nests and all that. He may well have gotten a brand new strain if this is true.
>>
>>534502464
You niggers are forgetting about the restocking ships.
There are gas ships, supply ships fresh water ships that regularly fuel up expeditionary cruises like this one.

They don't just refill and restock at port
>>
>>534514278
And uh, how many of them were going in to the woods and getting their faces inches from wild animals because they were idiot tourists trying to take as many pictures as possible to impress their bird watching and nature group?

That's Patient Zero, the dead guy in the freezer who's been dead for two weeks

>>534514375
If you want to freak out I'm not going to stop you. But we have a small handful of cases so far. Let's tap the brakes slightly before we twist ourselves into knots
>>
>>534514414
I mean a cruise isn't the worst case scenario, it's pretty contained. What if Birdwatcher General boy had gone to Buenos Aires? Argentina left the WHO and isn't reporting shit until it would be too late

Still potentially bad tho, I feel like most people should know doing that kind of shit to random wild animals is a bad idea especially with the outbreaks of the Andean strain
>>
Nah I'm chill. Can we give Hanta Chan some bird watching binoculars?
>>
I mean it's out of our hands, we'll know in a few days.

If it turns out "Oh this is like, decently contagious and spreads a day or two before symptoms" and they can't immediately contain the South African case and they let out the people from the Cruise then stock up immediately. If it turns out it's a "Oh if you spend a couple days with them and you're old you'll get it maybe" and they can isolate the south african we'll be fine.

No, the cruise isn’t a worst case scenario.
But puking in the middle of an international airport before they’ve identified that it’s an incredibly deadly, likely human to human spread disease, is pretty fucking close.
>>
>>534518420
At least we KNOW at that point what we're looking at. Birdwatcher General going to a bunch of parties in Buenos Aires could have been even worse given Argentina isn't in WHO

>It's spread by "bodily fluids"
After I saw this video I started doing research on the ship and the cruise line. They do offer gay cruises. This one is not explicitly listed as a gay cruise from what I can tell but the ship and the cruise line are used for gay cruises which means that this company and ship would be more likely to attract gays even if the specific expedition is not explicitly listed as a gay cruise.
>>
>>534518757
Depends on how contagious it is. That's the last line of defense at this point because everything else has failed at least partially.
>It's gone human to human
>Someone contagious on an airline and major airport
>Stayed just as deadly in the process
>Zero treatments besides oxygen
>Zero vaccine research
>Can also spread via mice so massive animal reservoir potential
>Argentina isn't in WHO so not sharing info
If it's barely contagious like MERS we'll be fine. If it's contagious contagious like the Flu this is the big one
>>
>>534518757
Hantavirus is a disease. There are two main branches, old world (discovered first and named after the Hanta River in Korea, causes kidney failure and hemorrhagic fever, 2% fatality rate in modern times, 12% without treatment) and new world (lung disease discovered in the 90s, 30-35% fatality rate, no vaccines or good treatments, deadlier than that in young healthy people with strong immune systems). Both are historically spread via mice to humans and don't spread person to person.

Argentina has had increasingly large numbers of outbreaks of their strain for years due to booming rodent populations and ranchers moving deeper into the wild, and there have been rumors and one unconfirmed case of the Andes strain spreading person to person. We don't know, however, because they left the WHO under Milei and aren't reporting anything.

Patient Zero on the cruise was a birdwatcher who had a reputation for wandering off trail and getting way too close to animals and their nests. He was seemingly infected before he got on board.

Now we have a dozen people sick and 4 dead and it's increasingly looking like the strain on the cruise is contagious. One of the victims flew to South Africa when sick, grew gravely ill at arrival, and died.

Hantavirus has a very long incubation period, up to 8 weeks, and this strain is seemingly just as deadly as the usual mice ones. We don't know how contagious it is or how well containment is going. That's what's crucial now.

If it's not that contagious this is just another MERS. If it is.....we're fucked. Everything is fucked and Birdwatcher General over there doomed us all
>>
>>534518757
It is...
>>
>>534518757
It potentially could be. If they didn't contain it and it IS the Andes Hantavirus there is a chance right now that over 50 countries are infected with it already. An incubation period as early as a week and up to 8? What a fucking disaster. If it is the Andes Hantavirus and they DID NOT CONTAIN IT, yeah the world is actually fucked because this virus is not like other hantaviruses and from the sound of it, it looks like it can be way more infectious than rat shit like the newfags here keep saying. I'm not advocating for a vaccine but I am advocating for you all to get prepared because fuck this shit
>>
>>534518607
See, I think the fact that the people potentially exposed were all on their way out of the country makes it way worse for the world.
However, if you happen to live in BA, I understand your opinion.
