So, they need much higher standards.
Just alter the pre-requisites such that less than 5% of current users now qualify for the prescription.
If you back down from an absolute ban, this will be seen as generous.

Serotonin = neurotransmitter for the feeling of satisfaction and happiness
(Selective) Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors = something that inhibits(prevents) reuptake of serotonin and only it
Reuptake = reabsorption of neurotransmitter to recycle it

So when you take SSRI your body can't reabsorb serotonin and so you have elevated level of serotonin. Since your organism wants to stay in homeostasis, this of course can't work in the long run and you are going to affect your reward system causing other mental problems.
It's important to know what kind of poison jews want to feed you.

>>535287909
Just because a random schizo is obsessed with some drug, doesn't mean same and other substances with same category can't have benefits. What else are you going to offer to people with depression? A walk in a park and a beer? People use SSRI because it helps them at least in the beginning. If you ban it without offering an alternative you are only going to make their situation worse. Psychedelics has been shown to be useful in therapy and self medication and have much safer harm profile than SSRI or any other antidepressants doctors give away like candy.

In the past people had a relationship with the Lord. I literally prayed my way out of depression, but you know that's all "old fashioned bullshit" and people want a quick fix that doesn't take any work on their part.
Overcoming it takes work, self reflection, and an ability to admit hard truths about yourself.

The benefits of SSRIs in treating depression is a placebo effect.

Why expose patients to side-effects when the main benefit of their treatment comes from wishful thinking?

>>535284641
I took SSRI for my mdd and anxiety, it made me feel "suspicious" of the silence of my room, for lack of a better description. It made me feel like I was disconnected from my soul and was going insane. But to each their own.

I don't think any substance should be illegal if it helps you then it helps you. I don't think DMT should be illegal. I believe each individual should have autonomy over their own bodies and if they think something is helping them then they should be able to continue using it. The government should not be able to take away personal liberties or tell you what you can and cannot use.
>>
>>535290120
>Its the same as it ever was
It's not. Genetically we are hardly different from people living thousands of years ago when all you were concerned with was dozen of your tribe members and invisible pink lion you've have imagined after eating that weird puke-inducing cacti.
>>
>>535290208
As it is, if the SSRI makes you feel bad you can tell your doctor you don't want to take it. I don't think the government should be in any position to tell people that they cannot take it.
>>
>>535284641
On one hand I've never met a person on SSRIs that was a good human being so I wouldn't mind if they all roped, but on the other sometimes they go on murder sprees instaed of jsut roping and that might be unfortunate
>>
>>535290120
This isn't my argument but I'd like to butt in and point out Rome collapsed. Complexity works directly against resilience for the most part
>>
>>535290252
Its the exact same. Social media is the same as church gossip from old. Work hasn't changed, its still labor for pay. The laws are the same, rules you have to follow. Sure culture has changed but if culture is giving you anxiety, your brain isn't wired right. Everything is the same, its how you compartmentalize the stress.
>>
>>535290446
That doesnt change my point that this time in human history is just the same as another. It isn't complex

The bigger controversy is why the medical industry is pushing something with marginal benefits that's associated with people flipping their lids, can have severe withdrawal effects, and is more likely to cause side effects than ameliorate depression.

Also, the effects don't necessarily go away if it makes you feel worse and you decide you don't want to take it any longer.

Oddly the recorded portion of our time as a species is short and incredibly chaotic, comparative to prior. but even during the chaos for the most part any given generation experienced conditions reasonably similar to the previous. This is no longer the case.
You can make arguments for extended unrest periods but ultimately the daily life of those who came before and after those periods are remarkably similar.
>>
>>535290765
there isn't any question about it though, it's because they can pretend it fixes the problem and you have to take it all the time and it makes the patient too stupid to notice what you're doing, so it generates a shitzillion dollars in profit and GDP

>A walk in a park and a beer?
Yes. Unironically. People need to get sunlight for vitamin D production, which turns into natural serotonin.

A beer helps release dopamine, encouraging the person to take action, which is a big problem for depressed people.

So YES, drink a beer to get the motivation to go outside, then take a walk in the park.

The exercise, the sunlight, the exposure to greenspaces all help people; I bet studies prove those things work better than SSRIs.

Yes, but no. In church gossip, you know both parties, and often have known them for their entire lives, so there's some nuance-sure it's hot tea that sharon cheated on her husband or whatever, but you also know how she's a loving mother and she made you that cake on your birthday a few years ago etc, so your knowledge of a person is more than just "their worst moment"
