Mean or median? I think Germany also has a comparatively low home ownership rate
I have $135k right now with another $200k+ on the way. It's the most I've ever had in my life. Just a few years ago I had like $15 to my name at one point. The first 40 years of my life were mostly poverty. A few of my friends are millionaires though.

>>535301055I did the PhD and married another PhD. We were Postdocing for peanuts into our mid thirties. Saving nothing substantial because Boston is HCOL. No kids, again because we were cheap exploited labor. So then we both left and went into defense R&D. We now, 4 years later, have $800K in assets including $450K in our combined 401Ks, $40K in our combined HSAs, a bunch of cash, a house that we bought outright because the Midwest is cheap, and two little girls that we had to drop about $70K in fertility (IVF) treatments on. It's crazy how fast things can turn around in America. Meanwhile my brother in law in Slovenia is brilliant but can't make more than 30€ / hour no matter how productive he is.
>>535300900Yeah, euros are poor because they have socialist stuff like health care and free education. Still won't stop americans from kwetching over it, saying they are somehow paying for it. Muh trade deficite.
>>535302070>and two little girls that we had to drop about $70K in fertility (IVF) treatments onHow many of your children did you kill or leave frozen?
>>535302301Healthcare and higher education aren’t free in Germany (maybe for asylum-seekers they are).
