World 'sleepwalking into food crisis' if Strait of Hormuz remains closed, warns UK foreign secretary

Yvette Cooper, the UK foreign secretary, will warn that the world is "sleepwalking into a global food crisis" as a result of the continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

Cooper, who is due to speak at an aid summit in London later today, is expected to say that the blockade of the key waterway could risk "tens of millions" of people going hungry and call for "urgent global pressure to get the strait reopened".

Disruption in the shipping lane, which has effectively been closed since the start of the Iran war, has caused a surge in oil prices, but has also shut off access to some of the world's most significant fertiliser factories, threatening to push food prices up.

The Foreign Office has warned that "critical emergency aid" will be needed for developing countries less able to absorb the higher food prices if fertiliser supplies did not begin to flow again soon.

Iran: Strait of Hormuz is forever ours

The Strait of Hormuz will "forever remain in the possession and management" of Tehran, a senior Iranian official has said.

Ebrahim Azizi, chairman of the Iranian parliament's national security commission, said the strait was an "all-round economic, political and military lever" in comments carried by state news agency ISNA.

At the start of the war, Iran blockaded the Strait of Hormuz, through which around 20% of the world's oil and liquefied natural gas passes. The US later launched its own naval blockade in response.

Iran's foreign ministry has insisted steps have been taken to restore the flow of ships in the strait, despite most vessels remaining stuck in the region.

Western countries, led by Britain, have been pushing to reopen the strait, with foreign secretary Yvette Cooper warning that the world is "sleepwalking into a global food crisis" if it remains closed (see post at 2:52am).

>A senior judge has been given a community-based sentence after admitting to downloading indecent images of children.

>David Selwood, once a resident judge at Portsmouth crown court, was sentenced to a 12-month community rehabilitation order after authorities discovered dozens of illegal images on his personal computer. The material, involving boys aged between eight and 14, had been downloaded over several weeks.

>During sentencing, the court emphasized the seriousness of the offences, noting that such crimes contribute to the exploitation and abuse of children. While acknowledging Selwood’s previously distinguished career in both the legal profession and the military, the judge made clear that these factors did not diminish the gravity of his actions.

>Selwood had already resigned from his judicial post and admitted multiple charges related to the creation and possession of indecent images. His name has been placed on the sex offenders register, though the court determined that formal participation in a treatment programme was not necessary, instead recommending supervision and guidance through probation services.

>The case has sparked criticism from child protection advocates, who argue that Selwood’s past role in presiding over cases involving offences against children should be subject to closer scrutiny. Some campaigners have questioned whether previous judgments he delivered ought to be reviewed, given the nature of his convictions.

>Investigators were initially alerted after international authorities traced activity linking Selwood to an overseas website hosting illegal material. A subsequent search of his computer uncovered the images in question.

>In his defence, Selwood claimed he had accessed the material out of curiosity and denied any sexual interest in children. His legal representative highlighted the personal and professional consequences he has already faced, including the loss of his career and reputation.

It's really not that hard to hate muslims, most of their core common beliefs are antithetical to English culture. They do not walk dogs or have pets, they cannot tolerate or ingest alcohol or pork, they get angry if you show them a picture of their prophet mohammad, they are violent towards anyone that isn't the same faith as them and they're especially genocidal towards anyone that looks, sounds or acts differently than them.

It's hard not to envy what they have in this country, they have privileges that entitle them to rape, murder and steal, whilst the government tacitly supports them.

Basically I just want to deport all of them before I have to kill any that I meet. Just like our ancestors did before Pakistan and all the other shitholes that exist with this turbo-nigger religion of death.

And whatever pittance she pays via income taxes (which is clearly supposed to be what she's referencing) likely pales in comparison to what she takes out via various obscure bennies, or her rNHS use, or road use, or her children's schooling, or police/court/legal costs from misbehaviour.

Your projecting your own self awareness onto animals. Its like wondering if cat is embarrassed that everyone can see its anus. It only makes sense if you assume your cat has a human mind.

A better example is one i see often at my local church where i volunteer to keep the grounds. If you had a bag of litter from your car, and you went up to the bin, and it was full, overflowing even, you'd think that looks awful, and not add to it but take your rubbish with you. But that's not what happens. They put the rubbish on the floor next the pile, which just grows and grows. Its not even a public bin, its emptied by volunteers like me who take it home at put it in our own bin.

The cold reality is that forrins are not like us, which is why they come, and why its necessary for them to go.

>Selling children to survive: Afghan fathers forced to make impossible choices
Why is the Beeb doing puff pieces trying to get you feel sorry for human traffickers?

>The country is now facing record levels of hunger, with 4.7 million - more than a tenth of Afghanistan's population - estimated to be one step away from famine.
We should probably recognise the government and stop the sanctions then

>But massive cuts in aid over the past few years have deprived a large majority of this life-saving assistance.
>The US – once the top donor to Afghanistan – cut nearly all aid to the country last year. Many other key donors have also significantly reduced contributions, including the UK. Current UN figures show that the aid received so far this year is 70% lower than in 2025.
>Severe drought – which has affected more than half the provinces in the country - is compounding problems.
*shrug life*

>However, the Taliban's own policies, particularly its restrictions against women, are also a key reason why donors are turning away.
Ah of course, the luvvie golden calf, foids in Afghanistan. The prior sections go into detail how there aren't enough jobs for the men so how would adding even more workers help?

The simple explanation is they're just stupid and operate from 'being nice / doing the right thing' vibes - but I dunno.

Labour win with Restore and Reform having similar percentages of the vote, each of them will accuse the other of being vote splitters who have revived the Labour Party while Restore will also be seen as nothing more than successful in Great Yarmouth and unable to win anywhere else.

Restore have to convince the non-voters to vote for them. That's the only way they can win.

Im pretty well up on this because i know a lad in the RM and he was posted in Afghanistan. He said the pictures of Americans walking through poppy fields was used over and over. The place is mainly a dry desert and the poppys grow wild on the plateaus. Its seasonal and they just got the timing right. There no way they're that organised to plant and process crops. The entire operation in the north had them identifying supposed intel sites of Taliban hide outs which were always unoccupied ancient Christian churches. He spent 2 years bombing the ruins of an ancient civilisation while in the south the mutts just guarded the airbase in the capital to facilitate the Israelis doing secret work in the mines to the south. When they found what they were looking for, they rang the bell, pulled the plug and everyone left within a week.

There’s no such thing as a split vote. That’s a myth. We’re not splitting the votes, we’re taking the votes. And we’re going to win everything.

>Ms Ong, who ran a restaurant business in China until it closed during the Covid pandemic, was contacted by Zhiyong Zhou, the director of Yatson & Co, who owned and ran the 32-room Fisherbeck Hotel in Ambleside, Cumbria.

>She was the only Malaysian worker and was given the title of manager on a salary of £28,000 a year.

>Ms Ong was told that she would get a work permit after one month if both parties thought it was suitable, and she was given a single room as accommodation. There was no formal contract, and she never received any payslip or wages.

>She entered the UK on a visitor’s visa but did not have a skilled worker’s visa. Mr Zhou held a copy of her passport as he knew “something was required”.

>Ms Ong had suffered with asthma since she was five, yet her duties at the hotel included triggers such as feather pillows, feather duvets and cleaning chemicals. Her airways often became blocked and she would find it difficult to breathe, meaning she had to use her inhaler five times a week.

>In May 2023, during her third week, she suffered an asthma attack and her boyfriend gave her some Chinese medicine. Her application for sick leave was denied.

>She was also found to have been the only staff member required to show her passport in order to be paid wages, which was considered to be racial discrimination.

>It was found that Mr Zhou had a history of paying female staff late and that Ms Ong had never been paid any wages. In June 2023, her accommodation was moved to Kendal, Cumbria. As she did not want to move, she was sacked.

>The case was taken to an employment tribunal, where it was found that Mr Zhou knew Ms Ong did not have a work visa. She won claims of disability discrimination, sex discrimination and race discrimination.

>Her compensation will be set at a later date. In January 2024, the company was fined £10,000 for employing illegal workers.

The current Restore strategy has plateaued. Most people who ever were going to join have seen their message on social media, and MSM will continue to try and ignore them. 3 more years at the far margins of politics won't help them much. A win, however, would be massive. Double the number of Restore MPs, put the shits up Farage etc. Whatever happens, it won't trigger a general election. Labour would still have a majority. If Burnham wins he's no magic bullet for Labour. Maybe he washes off the Starmer stink, but in 3 years he'll be just as unpopular because he inherits the same PLP and imminent disaster in public finances. His current alleged popularity reaks of media spin and he won't have a popular mandate.

I think it's unlikely Restore will win, but they don't have much to lose. Even if they lose to Reform, that's still a better outcome than nothing.

Receiving new orders on how to counter narrative the btfo.

The bussification videos didn't land as expected, after months and months of trying, they need something fresh.
I suspect it'll turn to Zelensky's wife.

Should be prison - particularly since it encourages human trafficking.

He was just a trade desk pleb doing what he was told by higher ups who were hedging markets. He was in short positions against the banks before and during the 2008 crash which lead to big profits on his particular desk. The positions would have been hedged elsewhere by someone else as part of a larger strategy. He just happened to be in the right trades at the right time because he was told to open certain positions, he had no idea what he was doing or why he was doing it. Still doesn't it seems.
If he did, he would still be doing it today, right? And donating all the profits to the people he purports to want to help. But he doesn't, instead he asks them for money. Gary Grifter.

>why would they put a halfwit in a position where he might fuck shit up
All they literally do on a trade desk is receive orders from the quants and management, click a button on a screen to buy or sell, then monitor and report the positions back. They have no idea what other trades are going on in the company or why they are trading the instruments they do. They're just the plebs who work the computers and click to buy/sell on the particular platform they're trained on. If their trade desk happens to do well they get a bonus for being good goys.
They're like a Tesco shelf stacker, they don't know why they're stacking the stock, they don't know about sales figures, supply chains or profit margins, they just receive the order to stack and do it. If their department or store happens to do well that year they might get their Christmas bonus.
