the stock market is a strategic national asset
a huge amount of tax revenue comes directly from capital gains
poor market performance reduces this revenue disproportionately more than any declines, which then cause even greater increases in the deficit, higher interest rates for everyone, and substantially increased political instability
they will protect this at (almost) any cost

Thats been fairly obvious for a while. AI produces nothing useful so far, even the AI-coding that was their golden idol has been shown to basically be paying 50x more money for code that isn't actually any better than you got with human programmers, and its only faster as long as you don't comb through it for quality checks to fix when it fucks up. It takes longer to debug than human written code. The AI boom is entirely driven by datacenter capex, but we;ve been shown multiple times that the datcenters don't actually make the AI perform better, so its essentially a giant real estate scam wearing the pants of a tech bubble. And no one has addressed the key systemic issues, like power supply to all of these data centers or who is going to pay for replacing virtually all of the internal components of these datacenters when they age out, something that is already starting to happen, because the cards in them don't last forever especially under the kind of stress they are being put under to maximize compute.

Even just a slowdown of building new datacenters would pop the bubble, and without that bubble keeping the US economy aloft it becomes impossible to hide that almost every other part of the economy is in decline.

thats already happening. In a way, the bubble is in the process of bursting. On the public equity side of things it will not be that bad as long as its slow. Everyone is focused on OpenAI and Anthropic, but thats all just private equity. They will probably self destruct before they get an IPO out. They need more money and the IPO is the only route they have left.

ai coding is actually not bad for very well defined, compartmentalized things
they are trying to trick you in using the opposite way (agents self iterating on broad things) to make you spend as many tokens as possible to get mediocre results but if you can save a lot of time and money by using it as a helper instead of as an employee

It's pretty smart to make your potential customer base the entire human population.
>Falcon 9 used to launch Starlinks
>Starlink used to generate revenue
>Revenue used to develop Starship
>Starship used for rapid large payload to LEO
>orbital construction unlocked (ISS was the tutorial level)
You may now construct nuclear torch ships to explore the gas giants and their many moons.

Everyone is getting out ahead of OAI because they're the big loser when the bubble bursts, still 50/50 on Anthropic sticking around after the bubble or being absorbed/pieced out.

Anthropics already put in the paperwork to IPO, it'll be here in less than 3 months. SpaceX is technically an AI company due to them buying grock and their own documents saying its a main pillar or their organization, despite it loosing so much money.

We really need to start separating AI companies by what sector of AI they're in. They're much more of an AI infrastructure company right now than a company producing frontier models. Still part of the ecosystem for sure, it's not like India being considered a tech heavy economy when they really just leverage labor for actual tech companies.

Imagine instead of data centers we had libraries with access to as much written knowledge as possible and maybe even free lectures and social groups. Also there’s a sign on the front that says no niggers. A man can dream…
