Whenever I tell a Gen Z service worker, like a barista "thank you," I get met with a dull "uh huh," or "yeah." At least millennials will say something like "no problem" or "no worries." What's up with this?
>>
We think you're retarded, politeness is fake and gay boomer

They are not capable for human interactions.
>>

I think we are just tired of the fake and gay social rituals and norms
>>
>>537451291
You probably smell bad and it's hard to keep polite.
That's more often than not the actual reason, I kid you not.
>>
>>537451405
Probably also a consequence of COVID
>>
What a retarded thing to get mad about. When someone says thank you to me I will pick any random phrase that comes to mind first. It might be "no problem", "no worries", "okay", "alright". What difference does it make?

How about you apologise for flooding our countries with infinite shitskins and starting the degeneracy wave of "sexual awakening" and le civil rights, to which the direct consequences of you complain about today.
>>
>>537451291
Their kids and youre probably a creepy weirdo if youre whining on 4chan because some zoomie bitch didnt smile at you
>>
>>537451291
obviously they don't buy into your expectation that they have to talk to you the way you want them to
>>
>>537451291
Shouldn't have given us smartphones. I don't have any energy for anything, not even basic human interactions.
>>
>>537451291
You're exaggerating. I'm Gen Z and I am exceedingly polite.

This is actually more passive agressive.

You're starting to get browner than us in the below 30 year old age. Do something about it, faggots. You don't know how bad things will be like in a White minority environment.
>>
I always say "no problem" and once some girl thought it was cool and badass despite me not getting it.
>>
>>537451291
Millennials are such a fucked generation. They’re gonna be stuck caring for old retarded Xers and Boomers but we’re also gonna figure out how to carry the younger gens whose brains are such fried sludge that they’re buying diabetes potions.
>>
>>537451785
No, the passive aggressive way to say "no problem" would be something like "no thanks necessary"
>>
>>537451291
as a gen x, I either say "You're welcome" or "no problem" depending on what it is. If I'm thanked for something that I didn't even feel like I helped them with like it was so minor I'm more likely to say "no problem", but if there was effort involved "you're welcome"... I can't really say "no problem" when I'm carrying something heavy for someone who needs help but I can say "you're welcome" because the effort is worth helping someone with.

I dunno, it makes sense to me anyway.

>>
>>537451405
They shouldn't be tired when someone rips their skulls open for disrespect then.

Let's be honest the zoomers are total braindead nigger generation. Whatever mk ultra bs they done to them it turned them all to low iq lanky flat drooling goyim cattle.
>>
>>537451291
Speaking as a millennial from my perspective this either means "I didn't do this to do you a favor" or "it literally was no extra effort at all bru".
>>
>>537452335
depends on the species
>>
>>537451430
I don't know if you've been to the US but people there tend to be very loud and boastful.
They don't just walk up to a service worker and say "hi, a cappuccino please".
They go "HELLO THERE I WOULD LIKE A CAPPUCCINO IF YOU'D PLEASE THANK YOU SIR/MA'AM!" and the service worker goes "OF COURSE SIR/MA'AM ONE CAPPUCCINO COMING RIGHT UP!"
What's changed is that they now order in that loud way but the service worker goes "...sure...".
Just the volume difference alone is enough to fuck with their mood, but it goes hand in hand with brevity and Americans really hate brevity.
>>
>>537452407
I never even considered that niggers might have generations besides "nigger".
I mean do they?
>>
>>537451291
you keep doing it, they will starting to snall-talk to you in no time
>>
>>537452335
>brainrot 80iq social media cattle is nice to you when you got money and they feel like there is something to gain from the interaction
Hmm interesting.
>>
>>537452488
Niggaboomers dress nice.
NiggX dress like basketball players, or perhaps now in their older age like a regular 90s guy.
Niggennials dress like whatever they stole, so they don't stand out from 10 years ago.
Niggazoomers talk about drip all the time but their attire is the cheapest most basic shit of all time. At least Niggennials stole expensive clothing, not cheap shit.
>>
>>537452594
>despondent depressed zoomers light up and start smiling when the customer they have to serve is actually white, local, and based
ftfy
>>
>>537451785
it's not. It's more to indicate that helping you was not a burden to me
"You're welcome" says "this did take effort but I'm willing to help you, and will do so again if you need it"
"no problem" and "no worries" is just "this was not a bother to me, I'll do it again if you need"
tone of course says a lot too in whether this feels like genuine willingness to help or forced politeness.
"yeah" or "uhuh" conveys "I'm just doing my job"
>>
>>537452594
Money to gain? We don't tip here or do you mean something else? Especially not in the supermarket or some shit. If its a cute zoomette i would pay for some special service if you know what i mean.
>>
>>537452382
But that misses the point entirely. We say thank you to the individual, not for the task. It's actually acknowledging that the person isn't just a cog in a corporate machine.
"Thank you for fulfilling that role like you're supposed to, but let me appreciate that you're not actually a machine and treat you like it was a pleasant favour."
This is the implied context. And thus
"No problem. Have a good day, even though I do not know you personally and have no stake in your life, but I acknowledge that you are not just a wallet who walked in the store today but a person just like me."
Is the implied response from a polite worker.
It's not about the reality of the words themselves so much as the psychological benefit to treat each other pleasantly and humanely to not make every moment a transparent economic transaction.
It's not fake to not treat people like people. The corporate world is the fake part, and these little interactions are actually a deterrent against its psychological damage, not part of its propaganda.
>>
>>537452739
>It's not fake to treat people like people*
I meant.

>>537452382
Second one is the one.
>>
>>537451405
>>537451511
Uncivilized cretins, the lot of you, all you want is stimuli stimuli stimuli
>>
I say thank you to be polite not because I'm necessarily expecting a response
>>
I find they're rarely not nice, but they are often socially retarded.
>>
>>537453158
Also this, it's like saying "morning!" to a coworker. If they are a nigger they will give you a death stare and not respond, but the point is just to greet someone nicely and generally try to be a pleasant person.
>>
>>537453158
true, but no response makes it a little awkward.
>>
>>537451291
>What's up with this?
Gen Z has collectively figured out that performance reviews in service work are a fraud and whether they're nice to customers or not, actually matters jack shit for their career prospects. HR will find a way to fuck you over and dock you your pay or deny you your raise anyway. And promotions aren't picked by merit, but by how much it virtue-flags. So why fucking bother expending the energy?

>>537451291
Oldfuck here.
You fags realize that every generation gets shit on by older generations once they hit young adulthood right?
I strongly think it's mostly jealousy. Sure you see a lot of fuck ups in customer service, but when someone does everything right you just grab your shit and go and don't even think about it. But one asshole who heaven forbid doesn't say pweeze an tank you, and people bitch about it the rest of the day.
People should stop taking life so seriously, you'll never make it out alive anyway.
>now get off my fucking lawn i have clouds to yell at
>>
>>537452739
>It's actually acknowledging that the person isn't just a cog in a corporate machine.
Well.. that's pretentious? Because the guy at the counter is exactly that in many cases, a robot of sorts, to get you whatever you order, and some people have a general and understandable disdain for empty phrases.
>Hi, how are you?
>doesn't give the slightest fuck how you are
>instead expects you to be "fine" every single time he asks you this, then expects you to pretend you care about how he's doing
Totally abhorrent and absurd.
>a nice little game of let's bullshit each other

>let me appreciate that you're not actually a machine
I mean this is basically a "why tf would you do this?" or "are you hitting on me?".
>I just want to go home
If no fakery is neccessary it's just a matter of mood however, like wishing someone a "good day", which still can sting, if the day obviously is dogshit; could seem like sarcasm even, like bruv, I'm a garbage man.
Good if you say something actually suitable and appropriate however; something actually individual, instead of telling every single bank cashier "hey bro I totally don't see you as an ATM". They already know they aren't actually ATMs, just pretending.
>>
>>537453537
zoomers genuinely are idiots though, and millennials after about 1984 genuinely have been too coddled and it affects them a lot.
Millennials prior to that at least had some of their childhood not have a computer so they might know how to function outside.

Okay, that's fine and all. I'll just drop the pretense of politeness whenever I deal with a young worker, unless I sense some measure of engagement from them. If they see themselves as mindless worker drones, they that's what I'll treat them as, and I'll leave them to their bleak future of being forever renters living with equally failed roommates.

Politeness evolved so that people would not kill each other over stupid shit. Like if you said to me what you typed irl to my face, I'd slap the shit out of you. If you'd used your manners you'd have phrased it slightly more politely as your survival instincts (which you don't have btw) kicked in

It's the same sentiment, but different phrases. The sentiment is to chill out... Since saying thank you when it isn't truly warranted is weird.
>>
>>537453983
Well yes, but not in the same way I am. Rather it's an extremely German thing to throw around such pretentious greeting phrases and respond according to the set pattern.
>Hallo, wie geht's?
>Super, und du?
>Naja geht so.
>oh shit this guy has balls, he didn't respond in a purely formulaic positive way, RUN FOR YOUR LIVES *spaghetti falls from pocket due to mental BSOD*
If you want to ask someone how they are - which you should not do casually because it's a bit of a touchy subject and annoying question - you should also expect something like "I'm feeling like shit today"; in other words whatever the truth is, the answer to your question, instead of playing funny little word games, or a microcosm of call and response.
>Schönen Tag noch.
>Ihnen auch!
Of course this isn't difficult, but it's also not worth anything. It's no actual interaction of merit, but something everybody compulsively throws around.
And naturally there are people who actually mean what they say when they ask "how are you", but many do not, and consequently people might have a defensive reaction against it.
>ever considered that maybe.. someone doesn't want to tell you how they are doing?
>... no

i didn't really think about it from this perspective. pretty based, actually.

No shit they're socially awkward.
These guys have hard time communicating with their friends without a phone, which is why all of them are constantly glued to their phones even when they're out with their friends.
Any human communication basically sends them into a deer in a headlights mode in an instant.
Not their fault though, it's the shit environment they grew up in.
