>>537598319The solution is the same now as it was at the end of the LAST gilded age we found ourselves in: a third political party that gets enough momentum on it that it scares one of the existing parties to change their platform to absorb it or be destroyed. Then, as now, people were disillusioned with both parties and felt that it didn't matter who they voted for because the rich controlled both parties. The last time the solution was a party called the Greenbacks. They never won the presidency, but after getting 18 congressional seats the democratic party of the era felt threatened and stole all of their talking points and policies, doing a 180 to save themselves from political oblivion. Thats how we got unions, worker protections, and the first ever income taxes on the wealthy. We've done it before, we can do it again. Right now the level of dissatisfaction with the status quo is high on both sides, people show the same despondency over voting that you do across the country. The solution is a third option that isn't part of the uniparty to force the issue of competition between options back into the mix. And that third option has to be explicitly and actionably anti-wealthy, because if it isn't all you have is a third mouthpiece for the 1% to pay off.
