Data Center dystopia is going to be so fucking wicked. Just imagine it. Massive light blasting compounds as large as cities being fed entire rivers of water and whole regions worth of electricity production. Droves of weapon platform drones will lurk the nearby streets and skies killing anyone who doesn't pass their highly flawed database cross checked visual identification alogrithms. The poorest of us will live in shanty towns on undesireable land bordering the walls of data center fortresses where the light pollution is absolutely unbearable and everyone is a dehydrated sleep deprived zombie shambling around. These wretched souls will be denied even a view of the stars through endless light blasted day-nights and will know only the criminal chaos of abject poverty juxtaposed with high tech fortifications.

The prices for real estate, water and electricity are going to go so high that most people won't even have access to them in any meaningful capacity. As data centers become larger and more central to everything, more and more people will live with little or even without electrcity. In fact electricity will soon by sold in limited plans like mobile data and you will have to try hard to not use your power allowance for the month in a week.
AI overlords will plan and rule every aspect of middle class life, you won't even be able to get a job without passing immutable AI standards for hiring and you sure as hell can't firm handshake a computer. Warfare will be completely detached from any sort of human decision making, the generals won't even quite understand what strategies are being enacted as AI will control everything. The same principles of AI decision making trumping human supervision will apply to medical care. You will quite literally live and die for the AI.

Then the first orbital data centers will be built. When data centers are in space everything will change. You will see hell before 2060.

I think they are using AI to drive the poor to suicide in my country now. That removes the thugs with hammers demographic, who can smash the machines. Middle class people are too brainwashed to do that.

The side with the humans will win because AI is retarded and thinks blowing up schoolgirls on Day 1 is a viable war winning strategy and that "Police Park" automatically means it is a police facility so is a high priority target.

The Industrial Revolution and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race. They have greatly increased the life-expectancy of those of us who live in “advanced” countries, but they have destabilized society, have made life unfulfilling, have subjected human beings to indignities, have led to widespread psychological suffering (in the Third World to physical suffering as well) and have inflicted severe damage on the natural world. The continued development of technology will worsen the situation. It will certainly subject human being to greater indignities and inflict greater damage on the natural world, it will probably lead to greater social disruption and psychological suffering, and it may lead to increased physical suffering even in “advanced” countries. The industrial-technological system may survive or it may break down. If it survives, it MAY eventually achieve a low level of physical and psychological suffering, but only after passing through a long and very painful period of adjustment and only at the cost of permanently reducing human beings and many other living organisms to engineered products and mere cogs in the social machine. Furthermore, if the system survives, the consequences will be inevitable: There is no way of reforming or modifying the system so as to prevent it from depriving people of dignity and autonomy.
