Somehow it feels like a real big thing, but nobody is telling me if our society is fundamentally changing in the next 5 years (universal high income regardless of employment) or if AI has already reached its limits and Fable 5 is just a good as it truly gets.

I remember when Chatgpt-5 came out a year ago and it was terrible compared to Chatgpt-4.

Of course it’s hype. “Mythos”? “Fable”??

Just to provide an example of what you're talking about.

Total War games have been heavily modified but engine-level fixes were previously quite difficult to do.
This year we've seen REX/M2EX, expansion patches created by the community, which aim to not only fix everything that was bugged in Rome and Medieval 2 TW, but enhance the games for WASD controls, make them 64-bit, improve turn times and other performance issues as well.
Then some guy shows up with a fun little side project he's got. 40-unit armies in M2TW, merging and splitting units on the battlefield into 1-unit 2000-man walls of pike or 2000 units of 1 man each.
Also third-person control of individual soldiers is now a thing.
Meanwhile in the realm of Empire and Napoleon, Napoleon is getting a global map and Empire is getting brand new maps.
And as people are now decomping/recomping the games, more fixes will come.

Shogun 2 got a demaster, the complete edition which became the single worst product ever sold on Steam.
It took an outsourced company about a year to butcher the game, AI-upscale everything, fix nothing and add more bugs, and it cost Sega a tonne of money.
JakeTheRipper fixed almost every bug with Ghidra, 5 days, and spite. All it cost him was vodka.
I say almost because he's tackling them 1 at a time, for both the demaster and the original.

That is how fucking huge the impact of AI is in the software industry.

How could income be considered high or low if its universal? What would they be relative to in order to be considered higher than or lower than?

it has recursive self improvement...it builds it successors and it successors built their successors. This is an amazing and perhaps terrifying phenomenon to observe.

I played a bit of Halo in Firefox the other week, maybe 2 weeks ago by now.
It worked well in spite of the shader compilation stutters.
Meanwhile in decomp/recomp land, several Forza games are now playable on PC natively, Bloodborne is being ported, GoldenEye 64's Project Midas was released, the PS2/PS3 DBZ games are continuously receiving updates, Mercenaries has a playable PC port, several Monster Hunter games from before World, GTA Liberty City Stories, AstroBot, Tekken 3, the list is bloody endless.

This train has no brakes and nothing will stop it.

Yes, pretty depressing. I also read 72% of teachers and college professors use AI to grade work of students and half of them have done so without checking the grade.

Education is dying and AI will prevent people from learning stuff.

Speaking of, can someone explain the Anthropic filing to me?
The class A shares the public can buy don't pay a dividend, but do give you a vote apiece.
But Class F shares (Founder) already include 50.1% of the votes so you don't actually get a say.
Class E (employee) stock get some limited voting powers (like the color the break room gets painted or whether the summer picnic has a vegetarian option).
>>
>>545048441
That is, it looks like you don't actually get any financial or substantial voting benefit for holding these shares.
So who will buy them and why?
>>
>>545048441
Oh you poor fool. I asked Claude and now all is clear?

> The control point is right: in yesterday's public S-1, public Class A gets one vote per share, but the founders' LLC holds a single Class F share fixed at 50.1% of total voting power on general matters and the election of non-Class T directors, and the LTBT's single Class T share elects the Class T directors, who make up a board majority. The post is wrong that Class A pays no dividend, since Class A and N share pro rata in dividends and liquidation while F, T and E have no economic rights, and Class E's "limited matters" are not break-room questions but checks on the LTBT: the Specified Class T Director (only where the nominating committee disagrees with the LTBT), certain amendments to LTBT terms, and redemption of the Class T share.

Imagine Anthropic is a big treehouse club, and you can buy tickets to join.

Your ticket (Class A): You get a share of any candy the club hands out, and you get one vote. But your vote barely matters, because of the two magic tickets.

Magic ticket #1 (Class F, the 7 founders): It gets no candy, but it always counts as just over half of all the votes, no matter how many tickets everyone else buys. So whenever the club votes on something, the founders win.

Magic ticket #2 (Class T, the Trust): A small group of outside guardians who get no candy either. Their ticket picks most of the grown-ups who actually run the treehouse.

The workers' ticket (Class E): No candy, and they can only vote on a few things, mostly to keep an eye on the guardians.

>The post is wrong that Class A pays no dividend, since Class A and N share pro rata in dividends and liquidation
Claude is a lying jew, page 125 "Dividend Policy" clearly states
>We have never declared or paid any cash dividends on our capital stock. We currently intend to retain ALL AVAILABLE FUNDS AND ANY FUTURE EARNINGS... AND DO NOT EXPECT TO PAY ANY DIVIDENDS IN THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE"
>>
>>545048737
Yes, so the question remains: Why would anyone buy a share?

It’s essentially preferred non-voting shares. In Germany e.g. 100% of the voting shares of Porsche is held by Volkswagen and the Piech/Porsche family and the public in the IPO only got some non-voting pref shares.

>too dangerous to the public
reminds me of all those self-development/pick-up courses back in the day who would advertise with "warnings" about how it's heckin dangerous knowledge that can be used to manipulate people and must be used responsibly. Just a way to talk your product up and get attention.
AI will change things about as much as word processors and Photoshop did, it's just the logical development of information technology. The atrocious quality of most AI content proves that it's still only people with talent and skill that will be able to use it productively, for the rest it's current year's novelty and forgettable gimmicks.
