>WWE isn't as hot as they were in the attitude er-ACK

Zoomers will never understand just how mainstream pro wrestling was in the Golden Era of the mid to late 80s, and the Attitude Era of the late 90s to early 00s. Everybody knew who the top stars were, they appeared all over TV, doing talk shows and the like, merch was everywhere.

Pro wrestling is more niche today than it has ever been in its entire history. There's still a fanbase willing to go to shows, but that doesn't make pro wrestling mainstream. Again, I don't think it's even possible for zoomers to understand. They just aren't bright enough and the world is too different now.

The world was a lot less global back then and people had more shared interests. Now there's thousands of different things to do or watch/play from all across the globe and everyone's sitting in their own niche. There's very little that is actually mainstream, 99% of things that get popular immediately disappear within days to make space for another fad. Wrestling definitely is a niche, but WWE is now more profitable and recognizable globally than ever before, even if cable viewership is only a small fraction of what it was. You don't sell ~500k tickets every year if you're smalltime.
