How does a guy like Cena or Reigns or Rhodes get the main event push, but a guy like Stevie Richards couldn't even stay on TV? He was the HBK of his generation in a lot of ways, just without ever getting the chance. The Right to Censor in particular was mega over as heels, and he was mega over as the leader, then they just...stopped.

He sucks
>>
>>19563413
He was a 7/10 overall for his era, and would be a 12/10 today.

>>19563409
Who is the king of me
>>
>>19563409
HBK never drew a dime. His whole aura was manufactured.
>>
>>19563409
He's got the look and can work, but you can tell how much of a coward he is irl from how he never came into his own. All of his gimmicks were handed to him. Guys like this may keep jobs, but that's all they do, jobs.
>>
>>19563409
They must have really hated him. He was Victoria's bitch. He sold for women. He was far lower down than even The Hurricane, Rosey, Eugene, etc. This is af who they gave up on, without ever really giving a chance.

>Jannetty to Raven

He's shit
>>
>>19563418
he would be a 5/10 today
>>
>>19563409
Bishcof wanted to push him to the moon but Stevie is a neurotic retard and ran back to ECW.
>>
>>19563432
Nobody today can work. Everything they do looks fake and everything they say is corny, and most of them are either fat or 5'1. Essa Rios could come in and be like the next Goldberg.
>>
>he was the HBK of his generation
aka dimeless? and the only difference is that he didn't fuck vince and so never got pushed?

kek
>>
>>19563409
>goes up to HHH and straight up asks him wtf his problem is with burying everyone possible
Kek what a badass
>>
>>19563449
nigga he's just like another fandango and at least a dozen other pc washouts
>>
Would have got a bigger push if he went by Steve Richards instead of Stevie, but Austin was already using Steve. Stevie just sounds like a bitch.
>>
>>
>>19563466
That was Raven's idea actually.
>>
>>19563498
Imagine getting worked by a methhead into naming yourself "Stevie" and permanently crippling your wrestling career.

This sums it up. He was a warm body who understood the basics in the ring and so he had value to Vince back when he ran about 280 live events a year. Stevie was house show filler. It's absurd that he's convinced so many that he's some kind of expert on wrestling when he was almost exclusively a jobber. Anyone with any instincts for connecting with the audience will do so without needing the office to try to force this connection. Stevie never had it. His successful run as Steven Richards with Ivory and Bull Buchanan in Right to Censor was a consequence of two things. The main reason was that it played off the rebellious sensibilities of the Attitude Era audience against conservative norms, pedaled by special interests groups like the PTC (of which RTC was a direct spoof). The second reason was Stevie's ability to read promos scripted for him by the two Vince's. The gimmick was more over than the performer. When the RTC gimmick ran its course and the reactions weren't as loud, water found its level once more with Stevie. He barely saw TV, he worked the undercard of house shows, and got jobbed out on them. He was a 1/10 overall, a 3/10 during his peak run in RTC, and he's basically an ordinary Redditor posing as a wrestling expert today. It's kinda surprising to see that he's convinced a bunch of current fans into believing he was more than he was.

Stevie said himself, straight out of Vince's mouth, it's because Stevie wasn't enough of an asshole. Look at all of the top guys: Hogan, Austin, Rock, Cena, Lesnar, even HBK (even though he was never a top guy in any sense . . . it was a gay magazine) to name a few. These were guys who were out for themselves and weren't shy about demanding what they wanted and playing hardball to get it. Stevie was a 'yes man.'

The tranny gimmick Stevie had? Hogan would've said "go fuck yourself, brother." But Stevie went along with it and bought white cotton panties to wear under the dress like Vince told him to.

I'm honestly surprised Stevie didn't go down with ECW like Dreamer almost did since he was he was so unwilling to go into business for himself. Although, I feel like I vaguely remember Stevie saying Raven was egging him on to come with him to WCW, so that's probably it. And I remember Stevie saying he felt like shit and tried to make it right with Heyman, even though Stevie knew full well the kind of perfidious jew Heyman was and got screwed multiple times by him.

he never proved he could have a great match, but he did prove he could get his ass beat by green shitters, so that's how he was used for his entire career. simple as.
>>
>>19563434
Raven would've never allowed that
>>
A lot of people are applying a standard to Stevie that Cena couldn't pass either.
>>
>>19564247
cena had a far more impressive look and proved he could connect with the audience in his midcard run. he was never a great wrestler, but you don't need to be in WWE. if stevie put on another 50 lbs of muscle he would have had a bigger chance.
>>
>>19564303
>cena had a far more impressive look
he looked like everyone else

>connect with the audience
not really, he was booed by the dwindling number of fans he didn't totally drive off for 99% of his career

he's the same story as HBK without any real talent, vince will feature you out of spite if you just kiss his asshole enough, cena was a DISASTER for wrestling, most manufactured non-star in history
>>
>>19563409
He was a pushover and didn't know how to work the backstage politics game. He had no edge, fucking cried when shawn called him out for being a fake Christian, hes a nice guy but in the biz, nice guys finish last.
>>
>>19563466
I he was Steven Richards from 2000-2006. He changed from Stevie to Steven when he debuted RTC and only went back to Stevie with the launch of WWE ECW in 2006.
>>
>>19564132
Yep. The only top guy that really wasn't out for himself was Kane. There's reason why Kane has most losses in WWE. However the reason why Kane still got pushed was because of his look and he got a great gimmick.
>>
HBK was the HBK of his generation
>>
He was too much of a mark and a little pushover bitch. Thats why Raven used him as his personal manservant
>>
From a technical standpoint, he's admitted to being bad at taking facebumps (basic DDTS, etc) and other moves, admits to botching Taker's last ride and Punk's GTS. Not saying he wouldn't have improved, but I also don't know that he could hang at the top of the card
>>
>>19567188
Also doesn't like having his legs over his head, so flips, hurricanranas, etc.
>>
HBK mind broke an entire generation of five foot white guys with long blonde hair.

I thought Fandango was boring until the fashion police gimmick, but he's so much better than any modern wrestler.
