Didn't this company used to have a rule about requiring title defenses? Wasn't there a controversial storyline where one of their top champions (I think during the Mox/Punk feud but idk) got a minor injury that would only take them out for like two months so they took the title off of him and changed their long term booking because he couldn't defend?
Am I wrong? Am I thinking of a different company?

They did. Emphasis on used to. Roman Reigns being a part timer and having a 1000+ day reign left them no choice but to kill that off. It's not a rule anymore. Which truthfully when ppvs only have 4-5 matches and not even title makes it on there to be defended every month then it makes sense anyway. If anything a champion HAVING to defend a belt every 30 days despite whether there's a worthy challenger or not could just as easily be criticized despite it being the norm for as long as it was. Which in the grand scope of things wasn't even very long
