AEW I think aew has had 2 non televised events in its entire history and TKO has been very open about slashing house shows. If like me you think people gave to actually wrestle to become good wrestlers I gave some concerning numbers for you. AEWs most booked wrestler this year was Jon Moxley with 51 matches. WWE had Roxanne Perez with 66 matches. These top paid wrestlers in the United States work less than 2 months worth of matches as their 80s counterparts in a year and frankly in terms of coordination and consistency it shows.
>>19583410>AEW I think aew has had 2 non televised events in its entire historyAEW did a string of house shows in 2023. They failed to move any tickets because all of the big stars refused to do the house shows because they weren't in their contracts, so you'd have shows full of jobbers, and main events like FTR vs The Gunns. The only main eventers that ever appeared on them were Moxley at one show in Ohio, and Adam Page at a show in Virginia because they were in their home states and didn't have to travel far for them.
Unironically the only good thing aew ever did for wrestling was doing those 7 hour long YouTube shows in 2020 when no one was getting any work. It would have been better if they didn’t upload to the footage and expose them all as green shitters, but it was still a nice thing to do.
>>19583445Ah. The only ones I was aware of was the gunns ftr show, which I only heard about cause Sammy Guavara went on a Twitter rant about how he would never work a house show cause it didn’t make sense to jump off a ladder if it wasn’t being recorded. And then I’m pretty sure they did a fans appreciation show at Daily's Place the day after a dynamite taping.
kek what a cute little workhorse
>>19583445Which is funny because Meltzer was just referencing their 2025 house show revenue the other dayhttps://twitter.com/davemeltzerwon/status/2004238810763481257
>>19583913If everyone is on guaranteed contracts then you just have to have tickets and merch outpace production cost. That said I would argue if you gave the money, which wwe and aew do, run house shows at a loss. Let guys work and figure out what they’re good at before they try and botch a poisonrana on live tv.
