Name 1 (one) thing he is or was wrong about when it pertains to the wrestling business.
>>19636580apparently booking because he ran every single fed he ever how power with into the fucking ground
>>19636580His hypothetical invasion angle is laughably bad
I love Corny but him thinking Doug Basham was the next big star from OVW is hilarious
When I look for answers about pro wrestling I always turn to the man who has been fired and/or blacklisted from every promotion of note that has existed for the last four decades.
He thought Smokey Mountain would be a profitable endeavor. He thought he could smack Santino at work and keep his job at OVW. He thinks CM Punk is doing solid in ring work in the 2020s.
>>19636621From the brilliant mind of Leviathan and the Prototype It took Cena rapping in a bus to save his career and make him a millionaire baka
>>19636580His entire run as Executive Producer of Ring of Honor (aka the Clone Wars Saga) nearly put ROH out of business and is what led to them being bought by Sinclair and going stagnant for years. Sinclair literally said they had no interest in growing ROH, they just wanted content to fill out their affiliates' programming schedules.
almost every single person he thought was huge from OVW was dreadfully boring and the ones WWE picked and liked most were significantly better, like he had issues with Batista and Brock but fucking hell is solution was Doug Basham and Johnny Jeter.
>>19636580Cornette marks try to pretend Cornette was up there with McMahon, Bischoff, Heyman, and Russo as one of the big bookers of the '90s, but the reality is Smoky Mountain Wrestling only existed for a handful of years and primarily put on shows at high school gyms in Tennessee and Kentucky. Chris Jericho talks about it being one of the more embarrassing times of his career.
>>19636601>>19636645If he had Tony Khans' budget his perfect world of wrestling would be realized, but he didn't. That's why alot of his promotions he was in charge of did bad
>>19636650Johnny Jeter could have been the next HBK or Jeff Hardy!
>>19636580He has incredible wrestling history knowledge. He is a walking Library of Alexandria of the business. However, anytime he has been given the book, he has consistently been unable to translate all that knowledge and experience into a coherent program
>God damnit Brian, I hate these outlaw fuckin' mudshows but let me tell you about my favorite match held in an Appalachian barn in 1974 between Eddie "Cockhound" Mulligan & Mooncricket #3 in front of 25 people!
>>19636621>>19636644>>19636669How is this any different than AEW thinking Hangman, Fletcher, Wheeler Yuta, or Ospreay are the next big things?
>>19636580Jim Cornette berated and slapped Santino Marella because he wasn't acting scared enough of The Boogeyman (pic related).
>>19636632Punk ring work was good in AEW, his WWE return is fake scripted slow dogshit
>>19636667>That's why alot of his promotions he was in charge of did badNo it's not. It's because he would always bring in the old fossils from the territory days like trying to make 50 year old Bob Armstrong the face of Smoky Mountain in the 90s
>>19636675Pretty much this. Cornette is better as a wrestling historian than someone trying to book or run a promotion. Get Cornette to sit down and write out books on the history of the territories and some of the big names and underappreciated gems and you'd have gold.
>>19636621>>19636644>>19636669You're judging two good prospects based on 2000s WWE booking with DOA gimmicks. Who's to say they couldn't have been big?
>>19636712Cornette didn’t like Cena’s rapping Don’t think you even get thuganomics with him having anything to do with it
>>19636711He does exactly that. He's promoting a new book right now.
>>19636696This doesn’t scare you, anon?
>>19636621Imagine saying in 1994 "Imagine thinking Eddie Guerrero was the next big star"Fast forward to 2004 and he was a star, you never know.
>>19636580Everyone in this thread is shitting on Cornette, but it's a fact if he was in charge of AEW it would be doing better ratings and overall better product than what it is right now
>>19636711Cornette and Russo types are better as a creative consultants than an actual writers
>>19636763Something tells me it would be Smokey mountain 2.0 and suck just as much assBut with Papa Kahn’s money it would be interesting for a bit
>>19636763That's an insanely low bar. Tony couldn't succesfully work any job on Earth without his daddy's infinite money glitch backstopping him. He's barely a man.
>>19636763Who would Cornette be pushing right now as "the guy" if he was in charge of AEW?
>>19636706You need known old stars in the main event scene in new promotions, retard
>>19636610How so?
>>19636812It’s hilarious that unlike other companies WWE outlasted, AEW cannot die because of infinite money from a trust fund baby’s dad It must annoy them, outside of the talent they can poach from them occasionally TNA doesn’t count as they’re now WWE’s bottom bitch Still impressive they’ve survived so long as well, though ig
>>19636763That's like saying he'd run a better lemonade stand than a paraplegic capuchin monkey with brain damage. It's not wrong, but the bar is set ridiculously low.
>>19636580ECW is great and Russo can be entertaining sometimes. Also I don't like his Reddit atheism and that he thinks ketchup doesn't go on burgers, Jim's cool though, I listen to clips of his podcasts all the time.
>>19636799SMW gave us New Jack, Candido, and helped launch Jericho in the States though, it was far from bad
>>19636826Punk because he never would have left, if not Punk then MJF. MJF would be the top heel either way. For tag teams he'd be pushing FTR.
>>19636696HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
>>19636580He once said Austin Theory had more potential than Cena and would have loved a class full Austin Theory's
>>19636763R Fraid so
>>19636645I liked Sinclair era ROH, it was what TNA could have been if they hadn't broken the bank on washed up geezers and schizo booking
>>19636645But CZW vs ROH looked amazing
>>19639677CZW vs ROH was from the Gabe era.
>>19639706That makes sense, I know Cornette was involved but I don't think he ever would have greenlit it as a booker
I suggest everyone in this thread to read up on territory wrestling and how it was dying before Vince even made his move to realize how much of a revved nigger bitch Cornette is
>>19636631Same
>>19639717>everyone in this thread>read
>>19636631He only got blacklisted from NWA for making a joke about African children chasing a bucket of fried chicken
>>19639804I popped
>>19636580I remember back when he was in charge of ROH he tried to book the fucking Headbangers and Mike Mondo as focal points of the show kekThey flopped horribly of course, but at least he gave new life to Haas and Benjamin after they had been lost in the shuffle for years in WWE
>>19636826He said Hobbs the last time he was asked
>>19636580Like all leftists, they are great at criticizing but never can offer any actual real solutions because when given the power, they get exposed as what they truly are, Coping unhinged midwits
>>19639848I don’t get why the answer is always to get people who have been on tv no matter how far down the card and past their prime they are and try to book a new run with them under your banner. Especially an RoH that clearly had its own thing going on. Are promoters that stupid?
