The hostile takeover of Paramount has been REJECTED by the WBD BOARD (partial stakeholders in AEW). What will Netflix do with their stake in OUR AEW???????? Will they even buy it????

>Even after David Ellison’s Paramount filed a revised tender offer for the company Dec. 22, with Larry Ellison personally promising a full backstop on the deal, the WBD board released a letter Wednesday morning rejecting the new offer and sticking with its signed agreement with Netflix.

>The revised offer also saw Paramount increase the termination fee to $5.8 billion, matching Netflix, and extending the deadline for the tender to later in January. The company kept its offer price at $30 per share, all cash.

>But WBD’s board argued that the changes were not enough to persuade it to change its mind.

>“Your Board unanimously determined that the PSKY amended offer remains inadequate particularly given the insufficient value it would provide, the lack of certainty in PSKY’s ability to complete the offer, and the risks and costs borne by WBD shareholders should PSKY fail to complete the offer,” the WBD board wrote.

All the sliding today makes sense. Either this or the ratings must have him in a tizzy

The shareholders will ultimately decide whether WBD gets acquired by Paramount or Netflix. Not that it matters because AEW is totally fucked either way kek

The Paramount bid hinges on them trying to convince the WB shareholders that 30% of their stock is worth $0, Paramount is fucked already

Netflix doesn't even give it's popular shows 3 seasons and you're trying to convince that they will keep that flop RAW more than they are contractually obligated to do?

Netflix is canceling RAW just like Fox canceled Smackdown.

See a psychiatrist. Just because you keep insisting Netflix is disappointed with WWE doesn't make it true no matter how many times you keep repeating it. They just signed a brand new, multimillion dollar deal for the rights to stream WWE's back catalog in North America on top of the previously existing deal for Raw, and the International streaming rights.

If Netflix wasn't happy with WWE, they would have let that back catalog go to Paramount Plus or some other streamer.
>>
>>19643757
well it can't beat a log in the ratings so yeah it's not doing too great rn

>They just signed a brand new, multimillion dollar deal for the rights to stream WWE's back catalog
This dronie has lost his goddamn mind (if he had one to begin with)
>>
>>19643760
netflix is getting the tape library to try and make the deal work, or else they have to cancel raw (sadly)
>>
They’re splitting WBD into two companies. One will have the dead weight and all the debt. That’s where AEW’s rights will go. Netflix will buy the other one.
>>
>offer a hundred billy
>Then change your offer to seventy billy
Was it a rib?
>>
Remember when WBD negotiated exclusive rights to AEW in the last renewal deal, and then waived that exclusivity less than a year into the deal for no apparent reason? And then AEW trademarked “WatchAEW” shortly after?
>>
>>19643800
WBD negotiated exclusive rights during the first deal, which is why Dark and Elevation stopped airing on YouTube. Are you dumb?
>>
>>19643809
Right and they negotiated to keep that exclusivity as part of the renewal deal. Until they suddenly didn’t want it anymore.
>>
>>19643827
>Remember when WBD negotiated exclusive rights to AEW in the last renewal deal
???
>>
>>19643800
Remember when WBD only gave Tony a 2 year put up or shut up deal? And he proceeded to lose 50% of the audience?
>>
>>19643510
Imagine the meltdown. Would be worse than when Smackdown dipped below a milly.
>>
>>19644047
>Dipped
Nice use of the word since it was a taped episode and instantly rebounded!

Can you use that great vocabulary to describe AEW’s relationship with a milly?
>>
>>19644054
AEW’s milly went to the market for some milk 3 years ago and I’m starting to think it isn’t coming back
>>
>>19644054
2024 taped episode had an audience of 1,300,000. Smackdown hasn't had that many viewers in months. Smackdown and AEW have each lost half the audience they previously had.

Last time RAW pulled 3,000,000 domestically was in 2017. Now 3,000,000 worldwide is a win?
>>
>>19644147
So no he cannot, he can only “but WWE” without context of network changes
>>

he's going to have a shoot nuclear fucking melty when they stop hiding the ratings for the 3 hour slopdown last week kek

>Balding guy: Oh yeah? Well you're BALDING
>>
>>19644213
Don't forget Netflix confirmed over 2 milly every week for Smackdown
>>
>>19643550
>contractually obligated
you think that matters?
>>
>>19644453
>rodeo trannies are now learning why it's a good thing to solicit multiple offers
You see, when you have leverage, you can negotiate things like fully-guaranteed deals. When you only get 1 offer from 1 company, the odds drastic go up that your contract isn't guaranteed and can be cancelled early.
>>
>>19644470
i guess e-drones know this all too well since slopdown got kicked off fox before their deal was up
>>
>>19643834
They did negotiate it for the renewal. That’s why it was in the renewal. Please try using your brain every once in a while.
>>
>>19644577
got a source on that one btw
>>
>>19644593
2 year deal renewal kek. Still probably have buyer’s remorse too kekaroo
>>
>>19643450
Interesting, didn’t Nicky Picc guarantee the Paramount deal was happening?
>>
>>19644560
WWE and FOX mutually agreed to part ways early because FOX wanted to air additional college football games, which start in late August/early September to get the drop on the NFL season. Smackdown could have been on FOX Sports for a month (makes no sense) or move to USA early, they chose USA.

This was covered on the podcast at the time, not sure how you missed it
>>
>>19643592
>>WWE getting slowly destroyed by TKO
If by destroyed you mean more successful than it's ever been than yes.
>>
>>19644788
so you're saying they got double cancelled
>>
>>19644788
i bet you said you and your mom mutually agreed to part ways when she kicked you out of her grain silo last summer too, didnt ya
>>
>>19644154
>without context of network changes
The context of RAW is USA network in 2017 was in about 90 million homes versus the 300 million subscribers that Netflix has globally. That makes it look even worse for WWE.

Netflix isn't buying Turner. The TV stuff and the partial ownership is staying with Discovery which is unmerging with WB. Netflix is buying DC and the movie stuff like the film library and the studio. Netflix has no interest in leaning further into TV as they've already beaten it, this is about getting a seat at the table with the real players.
>>
>>19643505
Discovery isn't a part of this. This is the great divorce where WB gets out of TV.

That still means Netflix will buy HBO MAX which according to Kikeltzer, it gives dynashite 500k viewers (lmao). So now Meltzer will stop adding the cope line of "doesn't include max" at the end of each cope tweet

>>19643450

My bold prediction for 2027 is AEW ends up on Prime
>Prime trying to increase to weekly shows

You don't have to worry about Paramount or Netflix cancelling AEW. WBD is going to cancel them before the sale.
>>
Imagine thinking Netflix would want a carny indie midget mudshow

They're the premium brand and are only interested in premium brands like Warner brothers and WWE
