Mark Henry was a heel you fucking faggot and he didn't have to scream ASK HIM during submissions like he's 2017 JERI-KO or whatever other comedy act.
If hypocrisy is part of his character, then he's not as threatening a heel as he is presented to be, and commentators should not react to him as if he were the real deal- the audience certainly doesn't.
If not, he's a shit wrestler who can't get heat other than through antics not consistent with his character- which is the case
>>
>>19666196
Are you seriously acting like a heel should always be a man of their word? Did you just start watching wrestling this year? Sorry, your Bron demotivation tactics didn't work and your Gunther demotivation definitely ain't gonna work here.
>>
>>19666220
>all heels have to act exactly the same
Just stop, bro. No one's gonna be on your side for this shit.

He's a bully. It's really that simple.
Honestly, he was the perfect foil to Cena.
>>
It really is funny how you fuckers use “hes a heel!” As an excuse for when someone isn’t good or when they’re out of shape.
>>
>>19666485
>He's a bully
Doing a pretty poor job at it if what he does when he gets slapped by a 50 year old man a full foot shorter than him is go cry to management. And again, you can't be both a bully and chickenshit and a serious technical wrestler. Why the fuck can't anyone get this through their head. These are plain contradictions, not mere hypocrisy
>Honestly, he was the perfect foil to Cena.
Maybe 20 years ago when Cena had his marine support le troops gimmick. LA Knight old shitter as he is would have been a much better choice. Only 5 years older than Goonther by the way.
>>
>>19666238
>>all heels have to act exactly the same
so why does he act exactly like 2018 kevin owens, especially if his gimmick is le ring general

so then why is he presented as a technical wrestler monster heel menace ring general instead of doing tea party spots with santino
>>
>>19666614
He is good enough to beat most wrestlers but cracks under pressure, that's been his character for a while
>>
>>19666623
So there was more pressure fighting Jey than there was retiring Cena?
Why do you have to make so many excuses for him

The singular Gunther fan is getting schooled in this thread you love to see it.
>>
>The writing is bad because he's a heel
>>
>>19666518
None of these things are contradictions. You can be a great technical wrestler in the ring to the point that you get a huge ego, act like a tough guy and bully people, but still get punked out when someone isn't intimidated and stands up to you. Everything makes complete sense. Why are you overthinking this so much? Are you just really bored and want to complain about something?
>>
>>19666518
>Doing a pretty poor job at it if what he does when he gets slapped by a 50 year old man a full foot shorter than him is go cry to management
That's literally what a bully would do.
>>

>So there was more pressure fighting Jey than there was retiring Cena?
jey was more motivated, cena was retiring and tapped out with a smile
try again
>>
>>19666196
He might genuinely be one of the most inconsistent characters in wrestling today, same with that Toni Storm gimmick
>>
>>19666748
>You can be a great technical wrestler in the ring to the point that you get a huge ego
Why does he rake eyes and flee the ring if he's a great technical wrestler for whom the mat is sacred?
>act like a tough guy and bully people
Why is he bullying people in a childish way if he's the ring general? Meaning, saying "tap out like a bitch" over and over again and doing 6-7?
>>19666782
>jey was more motivated
How does that translate to Goontah tapping out? I thought he did well under pressure?
>>19666762
So he's just a chickenshit bully then. Read the thread again to find inconsistencies with that.

the number of piggies defending a clearly shitty character as a bully when obviously that's not his gimmick is concerning

>How does that translate to Goontah tapping out? I thought he did well under pressure?
Jey tapping Gunther seems more like a booking mistake in retrospect, but it still kind of works with what they're doing with him now. Gunther can be beat because he's not as quite as good as he thinks he is and deep down he knows it (and is afraid of it, hence chickenshit antics). They could have him retire AJ and/or Brock for example, then do a storyline where he taps to a super over babyface. The tension being that he's great enough to beat legends and has a great record, but it is possible to get under his skin and wear him down even though he's a tactician.

It's not that original, but I'm not quite sure how this has produced so much shitting, pissing and crying. thread could have ended here >>19666245

Bingo, much like Gunther's push in general. There's no amount of coping you'll do that can justify a tactician booked like a monster heel acting like a chickenshit.
>They could have him retire AJ and/or Brock for example, then do a storyline where he taps to a super over babyface
Yea that's fine as an idea, just don't have the guy who does that call himself ring general while doing 6-7

I still don't really understand your objection other than "nuh-uh not over with me brother". It sounds like you just don't like it, which is fine, but it doesn't somehow mean it makes no sense to everyone else.
>Yea that's fine as an idea, just don't have the guy who does that call himself ring general while doing 6-7
I don't remember seeing this so I looked it up. Was this even on TV? Does it really matter than much to the character if it wasn't and was just improv? I didn't even know 6-7 was a taunt instead of just a thing people say. Who gives a flying fuck? Gunther probably doesn't even know anything about it.
The whole "tap out like a bitch" thing makes sense because he's trying to build heat off being the last person to beat Cena. He knows you don't like it especially because he tapped to Jey. It makes you mad on purpose.
Why are you being so obtuse?
>>
>Gunther is a great technical wrestler

First, no. My monitor is on, and I’ve watched for awhile, and I see no evidence that this is true. His repertoire consists of 90% chops, clotheslines, and simple sleeper holds. The most overrated thing people believe about Gunther is that he’s some sort of sacred ring, technical wizard.

Second, even if that was true (it isn’t), who cares. It’s 2026. The boring Bret Hart technical submission shit draws no dimes.

>Gunther’s behavior can be explained by him being a heel

Some of it, sure. But you can’t explain away EVERY dumb thing that way.

Admittedly, some of this isn’t Gunther’s fault, but his booking since the Raw after the match has been abysmal. That Raw was fine. Have him come out, he doesn’t say much, crowd boos, he laughs, leaves, and you watch the roster backstage give him the stinkeye, setting up future feuds, namely with AJ Styles.

Fine. Great. Makes sense.

But after that, next week out, you need to have him back in the ring, in a match, beating down on the other people who gave him the stinkeye before AJ. Who was it…Otis? Tozawa? Should have been lots of others. And then you just need to build on the Cena momentum by having him eviscerate midcarders for a couple months.

Instead, with that one R. Truth exception, they’ve been trotting him out there for several weeks doing the same promo-cutting schtick as that first Raw. And now they’re jumping straight to the AJ Styles match tomorrow night.

Whatever. I don’t care. None of this matters. lol

6-7 is just an easy thing to point to. The issue is that none of his mannerisms and even the way he wrestles are congruent with the character that they've been building up ever since his debut. Even his dumb face as he mocks AJ is a couple of steps removed from cackling and dancing like Seth Rollins, which at this point I swear you'd defend as well. This is the guy who was lashing Ludwig a few years ago, mind you.
A gimmick change is fine, but then stop it with the trench coats and boxer's robes and have Cole stop talking about muh mat is sacred. If what he does is jump on tables and yell out "bitch" every other minute, he should stop talking about how he's a wrestler and has killed off sports entertainment.
>It makes you mad on purpose.
Yes, anon, in a way that is inconsistent with his character. A guy who walks out to classical music should not cackle and yell out bitch. What's next, your sports team sucks?

>Jey tapping Gunther seems more like a booking mistake in retrospect
Nah, Jey got a big win that the crowd loved it. He had a nice little reign. Gunther got an additional wrinkle, with a new loud crowd interaction. And it never hurt his credibility. The only people still crying about it are obese marks.
The only booking mistake was thinking Jey could carry himself in the main event for as long as they did. He should've been put in the midcard sooner.
>>
>>19668352
>And it never hurt his credibility
I'm not disagreeing but the problem here is that he lost by submission to Main Event Jey Uso oh no wait a sec: Tag Division Jey Uso. Even Jimmy buried him when he was saying how shit things had gone for him before they went after the tag belts again. Not a huge deal but as Jey goes down it makes Gunther look worse for losing like that.
>The only booking mistake was thinking Jey could carry himself in the main event for as long as they did. He should've been put in the midcard sooner.
100%, it might have been slightly better to do it before he went over Gunther though. There was an opportunity to tell this story with an up and coming babyface and get the coveted nostalgia pop a few years down the line.
>>
Why should a chicken shit bully heel who used to look like a Auschwitz victim and tapped to Jey fucking Uso, retire former monsters in Cena and Goldberg?
