Slow down, relax, and take a moment to review the guidebook so you don’t die so easily. I’m strict on formatting. This is still a work in progress, and I have spent many hours perfecting the experience. Please note that things may change in the future to ensure better gameplay.

INTRODUCTION
4’Chan’A’Ka is a minimalist Turn-Based Voice & Visual Role-Playing Game (TBVVRPG) designed for those who yearn for tabletop RPG adventures—but lack the time, friends, or freedom to gather around the table.

ATMOSPHERIC THEME
“Life too brittle, hope too thin,
Few survive, fewer win.
Stats are low, the end is near,
Death too close, always a fear.
Then loud thunder crashes the sky,
As the Translock's laugh causes all to cry.”

This short poem sets the tone of the game world; harsh, unforgiving, and brutal. Players will navigate a daunting, hellish world through eerie scene imagery, rhyming narrations, with choice driven encounters. Every decision, death edges closer, eager to seal your inevitable doom.

GAMEPLAY LOOP
This is a game of choices, risks, and imagination played via the 4chan /qst/ board.
Locate the "DM: START" post: The DM provides scene imagery, enemy stats, voice dialog (URL), a rhyming riddle, and three encounters to choose from.

Reply & Roll: Respond with your encounter, with a 1d20 roll (dice 1d20), and your updated Character Sheet.

The Wait: The DM resolves all encounters in a "DM: RESULTS" post after 24 hours.

Your journey begins deep within the lethal jungles of 4'Chan'A'Ka. Huddled close to the flickering warmth of a campfire, you sit among other strange travelers, eyes fixed on an old, withered Sage. As the jungle's shadows creep around you, his raspy voice breaks the silence, beginning the dark tale of the Translocks Abyss.

“Beneath the Spire of Tranquility where shadows kiss,
Lies the cryptic Translock’s Abyss.
A cursed tomb in tales of dread,
Where whispers speak of the walking dead.

Legends echo through its fame,
Told by madmen who've forgotten their name.
Some scoff it off as myth, some claim it to be true,
Others fear for what the brave pursue.

Few have come back sane,
Most are swallowed by greed and pain.
A myth to most, to others fate,
A door to death through a shadowy gate.
In 4’Chan’A’Ka where nightmares thrive,
Only the lucky come back alive.
The ignorant and foolish will heed the call,
And in their new grave, they’ll surely fall.

For those who seek its lustrous lie,
May clutch at gold… or bleed and die.”

Are you not going to narrate the outcomes of the fights and events? This looks pretty barebones, specially if you don't let players have their fun writing.
Not a wall of text but more than one punchy sentence should be allowed.
>>
These threads only have so many characters or words that can be written. I could narrate more on the results, but the encounter and the chooses tell the story. I'm limited on what I can really say or else it eats into the threat count. You shouldn't need a wall of text to describe the encounter desu, but if you really want too. Sure, but it's more about the encounter in general and your character, more than making long drawn out RP. I'm open to change though, it's a work in progress
>>
>>6361625
I play Etrian Odyssey, I understand the charm of a minimalistic game, but I don't know if it's going to work out.
You used to do narrate the events in the other thread, it was fun.
The point of multiplayer quest is roleplaying or in my case controlling a character. The narrative is important. This board values narrative and a good history over anything.
For now I'm ok with the extension of the event description for the players.
>>
I love the character, but you need to adjust your formatting. I'm not sure what a Homunculus (Human) is? Are you a human or a Homunculus? A Humanunculus Human? Is this a type of human? It doesn't really matter.... but put Humunculus/Female, Humunculus Human/Female, or Human/Female. You should also maybe consider cleaning up your description, so it reads easier. If you want to RP more for your encounter, that's okay. But keep your formatting simple and exactly like the character Sheet Template example. It's been designed to maximize character limits for the threads. If they didn't have a limit, I'd encourage more descriptive character lore. I designed this for multiple people to be playing. Also been designed so I can read it easier, so I can do the calculations with ease.
>>
>>6361631
But that takes a lot of time and much more effort. I'm still narrating, and this provides a wider scope for multiple. The way I did it before was for pretty much for a single person. I'll consider your feedback though. You've only just started too. You need to let the story grow.
>>
>>6361632
The posts have character limits, the threads can get to hundred of post before archiving. It doesn't really matter.
I know it takes effort but if you do it too simple and robotic, there will be no difference to running an IA quest. This is a board for effort posting.
Seriously, I don't understand why can't you keep doing the same as before but improved. You got your reasons, I suppose.

Let's see how it goes, I'll give it the benefit of doubt, maybe you got this and I can't see it. Some more posts will do me no harm. I'll try to simplify stuff for you.

Cookie scrambled into the thick ferns, her heart pounding in her chest as she hid in the shadows just in time to avoid the serpent's attack. Gorrok wasn't so lucky; the fangs grazed his forearm as he made an effort to trick the snake, a searing pain flaring through his limb as he lost 1 LP. Despite the burning venom, he let out a guttural war cry, scaring the serpent away and sending it back into the twisting jungles of the night. Cookie helped mend Gorrok's wound until daybreak.

After the serpent’s night ambush, Cookie and Gorrok gathered their scattered belongings and ventured deeper into the suffocating density of For-Chana-Ka. The jungle was a maze of emerald shadows and deceptive trails, leaving them uncertain of where to turn or how to locate the elusive Translock's Abyss. They navigated the rugged terrain with cautious eyes, searching for any ancient mark or geographical clue that might point the way toward their ultimate goal: stopping the curse of 4'Chan'Ka.

Gorrok and Cookie's ambition for endurance training had quietly withered, turning into a simple, rhythmic trudge through the jungle. They continued to carve their path through the green void, walking for hours until the dense canopy opened slightly to reveal a small clearing. There, a lone figure crouched over an ancient, moss-slicked stone, tracing its carvings with a careful hand. The duo watched in silence as the stranger let out a heavy, hollow sigh of disappointment. He stood abruptly, the frustration evident in the stiff line of his shoulders.

"Hi!" Cookie chirped, the sound cutting through the jungle’s heavy silence like a foreign sound.

The response was instantaneous. The stranger snapped into a low, defensive guard, his eyes flashing with a sharp glint. Before they could blink, he seemed to dissolve, melting backward into the jagged shadows of the broad-leafed ferns.

"Wait! Don't go," Cookie called out, hands raised to show they were empty. "We’re friendly. I'm Cookie, and this is Gorrok. What’s your name?"

A hanging silence followed, filled only by the distant chatter of jungle sounds. Then, a voice emerged from the greenery—cool, cautious, and detached.

"Alonso," the voice said as the man stepped partially back into the light. "I am a rogue. I hunt for what the world has forgotten."

Cookie’s eyes lit up. "Us too! Well, we're looking for the Translock’s Abyss. Legend says the treasures there are unlike anything else. Why face the jungle alone? Join us.”

The trio pressed on, guided by the soft, rhythmic babble of the water. What had started as a mere trickle was now a wide, clear stream, its surface trailing over smooth river stones and swirling into shallow, murky pools. The air here was cooler, smelling of wet earth and crushed jungle ferns.

They followed the bank until the undergrowth became impassable, forcing their gaze toward a weathered log that bridged the banks. It looked ancient, half-buried in the soft soil on their side and draped in thick vines that offered a deceptive sense of security for the crossing.

Alonso paused at the edge, his boots sinking into the damp ground. He observed how the water ran clear beneath the log, shallow enough to see the shimmering pebbles on the bottom, but deep enough to make a dry crossing preferable.

"The wood is soft," Alonso noted, poking a section of the bark with his toe. "Watch your balance."

Cookie nodded in agreement, wondering if it's the right move to even cross. Gorrok took up the rear, his eyes narrowing as he scanned the dense canopy for anything out of the ordinary.

The damp moss on the log proved treacherous. As the group neared the center, the wood let out a wet, splintering groan. Gorrok, the massive orc, lost his footing first. His weight shifted violently, and as Alonso reached out to steady him, the rogue was instead pulled down by the orc’s sheer momentum.

With a frantic shout and a heavy splash, the two hit the shallow stream of the ravine below.

Cookie reached the far bank and stood alone, her small hands clutching the rough bark of a tree. She peered anxiously over the edge, waiting as Gorrok and Alonso scrambled back up the slope. Now battered, muddy, and dripping wet, the trio turned away from the stream and continued onward into the unknown void of the jungle.

After hours of trekking the thick webs of the jungle, the canopy finally seemed to be thinning, revealing a silhouette that didn't belong to the natural chaos of the vines. In the distance, a massive, unmoving shape loomed through the green void, its scale exceeding most they had encountered.

Exchanging a wary glance, the trio felt a pull of grim curiosity. "Whatever that is," Alonso muttered, wringing out the hem of his still-damp shirt, "it’s been there a long time."

Driven by the hope of finding shelter, a landmark, or perhaps something left behind by those who came before, they turned their backs to the river and began moving toward the towering mystery. As they finally drew closer, the jungle fell strangely silent, and the true presence of the unknown statue dawned on all of them.

Cookie stepped forward, brushing away a thick layer of moss to reveal an ancient inscription. She read it aloud, her voice small against the towering stone:

"The one who knows, knows it all,

And all who disbelieve shall surely fall."

Gorrok spoke up, his voice echoing slightly against the cold stone as he looked up at the featureless face of the hood. "Well... that really helps us," he muttered. Alonso, seeing beyond the others, paused for a moment, his expression turning serious as a thought struck him. "Maybe this is related to the Translock’s Abyss.

The physical toll of the jungle finally caught up with them. Bruised and aching from their desperate tumble during the log crossing, Alonso and Gorrok conceded to their exhaustion. They cleared a small patch of earth near the statue’s base, where the flickering light of a newly built campfire cast dancing shadows against the ancient stone.

While the men focused on recovery, Cookie remained restless. She looked up at the towering, moss-covered figure and wondered if its secrets were hidden out of reach, or if the climb itself might toughen her resolve. She spent the twilight hours scaling the weathered stone, muscles straining against the slick surface. But the summit offered no hidden compartments or ancient relics—only a better view of the darkening, impenetrable canopy.

She descended with nothing to show for her effort but aching limbs and a deeper sense of fatigue. Finally giving up her risky climbing, she slid onto a fallen log by the fire and watched the embers glow. The party had survived their trek and found a landmark, but the "Abyss" still loomed in the back of their minds. Tomorrow may bring better luck; for now, the only victory was making it through the day.

Dawn broke over the trio as they smothered their campfire and ventured back into the emerald void of the unknown. For hours, the only sounds were the steady rhythm of their footsteps and the distant, screeching calls of the canopy creatures.

Then, the jungle became suddenly quiet.

The humidity seemed to thicken as the birds and insects fell silent at once. Gorrok stopped in his tracks. "Quiet," he rumbled, his voice barely a whisper. "Something is wrong."

Cookie and Alonso froze, the silence ringing in their ears. Their eyes darted through the dense foliage, searching for whatever had hushed the world. Gorrok scanned the shifting foliage of the undergrowth until his gaze locked onto two eyes.

A massive tiger was crouched in the shadows, its stripes blending perfectly with the tangled vines, watching them with lethal intent. The predator let out a low, vibrating growl that shook the air. The trio braced themselves for its inevitable attack.

Revision made to rules.

Strength point can now be earned from also Simple and Creative Encounters, not just Risky, like before.

Additionally,

Scavenging from victory allows you to take everything from the slayin, gear, Items, Armor, etc.; but you can only take what you can carry (see rules). You may also now add +1 Strength on top of taking all the gear and items. Before you could only choose 1 single thing from the win.

It's been some post, I've earned my nagging right.
I don't know if the stat gaining is that big of a problem, but I'll let that to you.
I'm not digging the randomness. It's true that a happening can be random but the consequences can't be. For example, earlier two party members fell to the water, it would have been good to make the next event based on that. Like adding a water encounter or a monster that attacks Cookie alone while she's waiting for her teammates. Maybe add a chance for the guys that fell to find something in the river.
Randomness can be good in CERTAIN aspects of CERTAIN games to add replayability. Like rouge likes or Minebrap.
But this is supposed to be a story. If your plot is just just a bunch of random things that happen then you don't have a story, you have nothing, just random things that happen with little to none literary value and low engagement.

Also this is not for discussion, it's for you to think. If you keep tweaking the gameplay over and over again, you'll burn yourself out and waste a lot of time.
Maybe you should find an already established sistem and lore and just follow it. I bet you'll make a better history if you take something you already like and add it your personal touch. Just let that sink in.
>>
I will agree the randomness needs work. I just updated it to help improve it. I agree that something else could still be added possibly to maybe make it better. Right now you guys can't even hold any gear or items because your Strength is zero. So I'm trying to find ways to reward you with strength that's meaningful. This is why I'm going to be adding strength in. This will not be a game where you get stats and armor through my story telling it will be rolled and earned. Writing alone is difficult, but writing and making it good is extremely hard. Now that I updated random a little more, give it a bit. It's also a slow burn of a game, because I have to wait for you both to responsed.
>>
>>6362430
You're too good for this world, Alonso.
>>
I'm gonna chime in real quick just to say I am honestly happy to play the game just as is and I am not worried about the slow pace or whatever else there might be to worry about. I read the rules before I began playing, I know what this game is and I'm down with it so far and I'm enjoying it.

Good to read Alonso. I do understand what Cookie means though. I agree, because I'm also playing it as Gorrok, so I want to try and improve where I can.

You still need to roll for the current encounter, BTW. :)

The confrontation with the apex predator was settled neither by the clash of bronze nor the weight of brute strength, but by a sharp and decisive display of tactical wit. Gorrok, proving his mind was as formidable as his towering stature, maneuvered the tiger toward a concealed pit; the beast, driven by primal hunger, realized the ruse only as it tumbled into the earth, rendered suddenly and utterly helpless. Yet, the victory was not without its scars. Alonso, in his courageous attempt to assist, found himself balanced on the edge of death as those lightning-fast claws lashed out, delivering a wicked swipe that served as a memory of how narrowly he had escaped the end. Nearby, Cookie had thrown herself into the distraction with bravery, yet for some inexplicable reason, the feline had met her efforts with zero regard, its focus never once shifting toward her. With the immediate threat somewhat neutralized and their adrenaline still surging, the trio shared a silent, desperate consensus to escape while the window remained open. The jungle is rarely quiet for long, and it was time to put as much distance as possible between themselves and the trapped terror.

After trekking for miles and successfully putting a vast expanse of dense foliage between themselves and the trapped tiger, an unexpected sound began to drift through the heavy, humid air: the faint, rhythmic pulse of music.

"Do you hear that!?" Cookie whispered, her eyes wide with curiosity.

"I do," Alonso replied, his hand resting instinctively near his bandaged wound. "Let’s find the source. It’s better to know what’s sharing the jungle with us."

Pushing through a thick curtain of broad banana leaves, the trio emerged into a small clearing. Nestled there was a weathered, old shack, its chimney trailing a thin ribbon of smoke. On the stoop sat a tiny gnome, playing away on a bamboo flute with frantic, nimble fingers. While they all marveled at how anyone—let alone a creature so small—could survive in this green hell, a collective decision was made to approach.

However, as they drew within range of the porch, the gnome’s eyes snapped toward them. In the blink of an eye, he vanished into thin air, leaving only a lingering wisp of pipe smoke and the dying echo of a flute note behind. Gorrok’s brow furrowed, his skepticism rising as he gripped his weapon, wondering if they had walked into yet another jungle trap.

Cookie, undeterred, cupped her hands and shouted toward the empty shack, "Wait! We're friendly! We seek the Abyss!"

Silence was the only reply. With no sign of the gnome’s return, the trio took up a cautious stand by the shack, hoping the little creature’s curiosity would eventually outweigh his fear.

I've made some slight tweaks again to rolling outcomes, which I feel truly help with gameplay. There will now be 5 outcomes per encounter category (Simple, creative, risky). Additionally, I've done away with a Character needing Strength to hold items or armor. I originally thought this would give more meaning to Strength, but it's just limited our gameplay and it must be changed. Additionally, I've revitalized gold and how it will be used. Gold will be used as a roll Modifier. You may spend your gold when on your roll turn, not after. Each gold increases a roll by 1. Put the amount of gold you want to use next to your encounter choice.

Example: >Creative: Search? 2G

I will see this and take this into account for your roll.

Note: You may not use gold after a roll, else you could just use it how you like and make your outcome much more predictable, which is robotic or cheese gameplay. Having this gold Modifier will help save you and also give you a better hope for maybe better outcomes, but it's not certain, just slightly increased depending on the amount you spend. Gold and Items can be used together of course.

Rolls will look like this as well:

(1-3) -1 LP
(4-7) Nothing
(8-12) Gold or Items, maybe both
(13-17) [Chest] Can contain varies things and it's all lootable.
(18-20) +1 LP, CRA, or STR (Simple, Creative, Risky).

I know this seems like a lot if changes, but they are really minor, but definitely will give more growth to your gameplay, without handing you everything.
>>
Sorry, not trying to continually update the rolling, but I realized 4-7 nothing roll is stupid. It will be where you get gold instead of just nothing.

As Gorrok and Alonso rummaged through the gnome's shack, the flute music returned. Outside, the gnome stood in the yard, glinting with a sinister glare. He began to play again, but the melody was gone, replaced by horrid, ear-piercing shrieks. Gorrok lunged to snatch him, but the creature vanished into thin air.

"We should leave. Dusk is nearing," Alonso urged, feeling a twinge of shame for the intrusion. As they neared the treeline, a soul-breaking screech echoed from the shadows. Something was pacing them, moving fast through the deepening dark.

Suddenly, the jungle went silent. Then, the sound of a crying baby drifted from the brush. Cookie started toward it, but Gorrok caught her shoulder, muffling her frantic protests with his hand.

"Shhh. Listen," he hushed.

The wailing stopped, replaced by a woman’s desperate plea: "Help me, please!" The voice dissolved into sobbing. Realizing the trap, Alonso whispered, "We need to leave! Now!"

They turned to flee, but the sobbing stopped instantly. Another horrid screech ripped through the air, closer than before. Frantically scanning the now night-time, they saw a strange figure emerge from the trees. It moved with a weird, broken, animated stride that defied nature.

"Wendigo," Alonso said, his voice flat with defeat.

The Wendigo attacked with a jerking lunge. Cookie, acting on pure instinct, stripped away her dress and draped it across a low thicket. The Wendigo pivoted, and its black eyes fixed on Cookie’s bush. Gorrok saw his opening—a massive, dead tree looming over the creature's path. With all his strength, he slammed his entire body and shoulder into the trunk with mighty force. The dead tree groaned as it toppled over, crushing the screeching horror into the mud. Cookie, inches from certain death, now stood there shivering naked in the moonlight. Alonso, mortified by the nightmare attack, tried his best to escape away, but the jungle floor claimed him as a stray root tripped him to the dark ground.

After the nightmarish task of crushing the cryptic monster beneath a fallen tree, the trio finally succumbed to exhaustion. They sought refuge in the Gnome’s shack, though the owner remained a mystery throughout the night; the small dwelling stayed eerily silent.

By morning, the jungle’s humidity drove them back onto the trail. After hours of trudging through tangled vines, the green void gave way to a jagged, yawning maw in the hillside.

"Maybe this is the Abyss?" Cookie asked, her eyes wide with a mix of fear and hope.

"We're miles from Tranquility Mountain, Cookie. It can’t be," Alonso corrected, as his hand shifted nervously on his bag.

"Well then, what is it?" she pressed.

Alonso’s gaze lingered on the dark opening. "I don’t know. But I have a feeling we should just keep moving."

His warning fell on deaf ears. Gorrok, never one for debate, had already vanished into the shadows of the cavern.

"Wait for us!" Cookie shouted, scrambling after him. Alonso sighed and followed, trailing into a darkness so thick it felt like a physical weight, broken only by occasional, blinding shafts of light piercing through the ceiling like beams from heaven.

The trio ventured a bit deeper into the cavern, their footsteps echoing against the stone floor. They found no tracks, no bedding of straw—not even the skittering of insects. It was a tomb of silence, perfect for a makeshift camp. Seizing the opportunity, they decided to push their bodies before settling in for the night.

The cavern air soon grew thick with the scent of sweat and the sounds of exertion as they pushed through a rigorous training session. Cookie and Alonso, driven by a need to grow stronger, worked until their muscles burned and tightened into a satisfying pump. But in their efforts to match Gorrok's tireless pace, they pushed a step too far.

A sharp, stabbing twinge in Cookie’s shoulder made her gasp, and Alonso felt a dull, heavy pull across his lower back as his muscles finally revolted. The adrenaline faded, leaving them both trembling and sore. Recognizing the limit of their endurance, they slumped against the cave wall to recover. Gorrok, seemingly unfazed by the exertion, grunted at their fatigue and turned back toward the cave mouth to gather timber for a fire, leaving the two to nurse their pride and their aching limbs.

The fire had burned down to a low, rhythmic crackle, casting long, dancing shadows that mimicked the trio’s steady breathing. In the deep stillness of the "tomb," they slept soundly—until the silence was punctured by a sound that didn't belong.

It was a giggle. High, mischievous, and sharp.

Alonso’s eyes snapped open, his vision blurry and heavy with sleep. Squinting toward the moonlit mouth of the cave, he saw the silhouette of that devilish gnome. The creature stood small but defiant, the pale light catching the polished wood of its bamboo flute. Alonso shook his head in a desperate, silent plea, mouthing a frantic "No," but the gnome only offered a jagged grin.

The first note was a piercing trill that shattered the cavern’s peace like glass.
Cookie and Gorrok jolted awake, their hearts hammering against their chest. Gorrok didn't hesitate; with a guttural roar of his own, the Orc launched himself forward, a mountain of muscle aimed at the tiny harasser. But just as his shadow fell over the creature, the gnome vanished into thin air, leaving only the fading echo of a taunting melody.

The silence that followed was brief and terrifying. From the lightless gullet of the cave behind them came a heavy, wet snort. Then another. It was the sound of something ancient and massive inhaling the scent of intruders.

Slowly, a danger emerged from the black. It was a cave bear of impossible proportions, its fur matted with the scars of many fights. As it caught sight of the trio, it rose onto its hind legs, seemingly growing until it nearly brushed the stalactites of the ceiling. It towered three times their height—a wall of fur, claw, and predatory rage.

The bear unhinged its jaw, unleashing a roar so powerful it rattled their spines and bones. Before the echo could die, the beast dropped to all fours and charged, the ground trembling under the weight of its fury.

The massive cave bear didn’t just move; it exploded with rage. A mountain of fur and muscle charged with a terrifying, predatory speed that left the air tasting of dirt and saliva. Gorrok and Cookie scrambled, their lungs burning, barely clearing the mouth of the den as the shadows swallowed the entrance behind them.

Alonso wasn't so lucky.

There was no logic to the beast’s hunger—it simply chose him. A heavy, wet thud echoed through the stone corridor as the bear pinned him, the sheer mass of the predator snuffing out any hope of struggle. Then came the sounds: the sickening, wet snap of bone and the ragged, "bone-crunch" screams that clawed at the cavern walls. It wasn't just a kill; it was a slaughter.

Cookie let out a strangled cry, her boots skidding on the dirt as she tried to lung back toward the carnage.

"Alonso!"

Gorrok’s hand clamped onto her shoulder like a vice, his fingers digging into her skin. He didn’t look back; he knew the sound of a life ending. He yanked her away from the maw of the cave, his strength the only thing keeping her from a suicide rescue. Together, they fled, disappearing into the suffocating silence of the dark night, leaving the echoes of the screams behind them.

They ran until their heartbeats drowned out the memory of Alonso’s screams, finally collapsing into the rotted hollow ancient, dead tree. Exhaustion acted as a temporary mercy, dragging them into a heavy, dreamless sleep.

When the shy morning light filtered through the cracks in the bark, Cookie gasped awake. She found herself pressed against Gorrok’s chest, his arms a defensive barrier against the cold night. The sudden intimacy felt like a betrayal of the grief still raw in her throat. She shoved him away, her face flushed with a mix of shame and anger.

"That was the one time," she snapped, scrambling to her feet and crossing her arms tight against her chest. "Don’t ever think you can do that again."

Gorrok didn't argue. He didn't even look at her. He simply stood, a silent monolith of a man, and brushed the bark dirt from himself before setting out into the bush. Cookie lingered for a second, the silence of being alone feeling far more dangerous than his presence, before she hurried to catch up.

Alonso was gone; but the Translock’s Abyss lived on and their journey into endless green labyrinth continued. Hours bled into one another until the rhythmic crunch of footsteps was replaced by a distant, mounting roar.

They crested a final ridge to find a river that looked less like water and more like a stampede. It was a churning, silt-heavy vein of rushing water, wide enough for unsafe cross and fast enough to sweep a man from his feet.

They stood at the muddy bank, the spray dampening their clothes, realizing that the path forward was effectively severed.

I have question for you guys.

>How do you feel about picking a weapon right from the beginning of creator creation?

If you read the guidebook. I have weapons that change combat rolls drastically. I felt like players should aquire them as they go, but I think maybe it would be best to give you a weapon right away to help give your character better identity and also overall enhance gameplay.
>>
>>6363371
I mean it’s pretty standard to be able to choose a weapon but, at the same time, just free soloing it until we come across one in the world works too and it’s honestly more hardcore which, imo, fits the 4chan aesthetic behind this game.
>lurk moar newfag
ain’t shit for free on the ‘chinz
>>
>>6363381
The hardcore aspect is what I want for sure, but at the same time, if this encourages more players to go for the fight in a combat encounter and overall helps players enjoy the game more. I think it would be good. Thanks for your input BTW.

Gorrok and Cookie decided to cross the river together, but as they reached the halfway point, Gorrok lost his footing on a slippery rock. With a massive splash, he vanished beneath the water. Without a second of hesitation, Cookie dove into the rapid current, somehow finding the strength to swim and haul the heavy orc to the opposite bank. Gorrok lay sprawled on the mud, unconscious and silent. Desperate to save him, Cookie began frantic mouth-to-mouth CPR, her heart racing with worry. Suddenly, she felt a slight twitch in her mouth and realized Gorrok was playing with her tongue. Gorrok had been faking the entire ordeal, she then delivered a stinging slap across his green face. "You big, stupid orc!" she yelled. Gorrok burst into a booming laugh, thoroughly amused by his own trick. Annoyed and frustrated, Cookie stormed away, but abruptly stopped when she noticed a figure walking calmly across the surface of the river. It was a man in tattered robes who seemed to be calling out to her directly in her own mind. Gorrok finally noticed the stranger too and ran up beside Cookie, his amusement replaced by wary suspicion. The man stopped in the center of the river and spoke aloud.

"I’ve come to help."

Gorrok and Cookie exchanged a look of deep concern and confusion. "Okay? Help with what? Who are you?" Cookie asked, her voice trembling slightly. The man replied, "I am Cosmo. I seek the chosen who will end the Curse of 4'Chan'A'Ka." Gorrok narrowed his eyes, growling, "What are you, some sort of prophet?" Cosmo nodded. "Yes, yes, I am. I know many things, Gorrok." Surprised, the orc demanded, "How'd you know my name?" The robed man looked at them both with a soul piercing gaze and recited, "The one who knows, knows it all, and all who disbelieve shall surely fall." The words struck a chord in Cookie; she vividly remembered that exact phrase from the ancient stone statue they had previously investigated. "Gorrok, the statue. I think we should let him help us," she whispered. Gorrok looked from the old sage to the girl and finally nodded in agreement. "Okay, prophet, we will let you lead us to the Abyss, but if you try anything I will rip you in half" and with that Gorrok and Cookie followed Cosmo into the jungle.

The new trio trekked for many miles through the dense jungle, with the Prophet leading the way. Cookie walked in the middle, while Gorrok brought up the rear, his eyes darting between the strange old man and the shadows of the trees, watching for anything out of the ordinary. Every so often, the Prophet would stop and sink into a deep prayer, claiming these spiritual moments were the only way to navigate the path to the Abyss.
As dusk began to settle over the canopy, the old man’s pace slowed. Exhausted, he finally sat down on a moss-covered fallen log.

"We stop here for the night," he announced. "Gorrok, we will need some firewood for the girl."

Gorrok’s face twisted with sudden rage. He stepped forward, towering over the Prophet. "She’s not for eating!"

Cookie sighed, scolding the orc with a sharp look. "Relax, Gorrok. He meant for warmth, you big dummy!"

Gorrok grumbled under his breath, his green ears turning a darker shade of embarrassed patina copper as he turned to stomp into the underbrush in search of dry sticks and logs. Ignoring the orc’s outburst, the Prophet closed his eyes and returned to his silent prayers, leaving Cookie to begin clearing a space for the camp, her eyes scanning the deepening shadows.

As the trio settled in, the Prophet slipped back into his deep prayer. In the midst of his trance, he reached out and grasped a small stone near his side, pocketing it with a deliberate slowness that caught Cookie’s eye. Intrigued, she watched the orange firelight dance across his weathered features.

"Do you know magic?" she asked softly.
Cosmos remained as still as a statue, his eyes closed. Cookie began to turn away, thinking she’d been ignored, when a voice resonated clearly within the chambers of her mind: "You must focus your energy from within your heart, and your mind will reveal your power."

Not fully understanding who was truly speaking in her mind, Cookie closed her eyes anyway. She focused on the steady thrum of her heart, reaching for a power she felt but couldn't yet name. In the darkness of her mind, a "grey thought" began to form—a strange, shimmering fog that sharpened her senses. Suddenly, a presence stirred within her. It felt like a new weapon, a psychic lens that allowed her to see beyond the surface of things and pinpoint the hidden weaknesses in the world around her.

Her vision, even behind closed lids, grew incredibly acute. Details of the jungle—the serrated edges of leaves, the microscopic movements of insects—became crystal clear. Then, she caught it: a flickering light in the distance, bobbing through the trees and heading straight for their camp.
Anxiety spiked in her chest. "Cosmos," she whispered, "there’s a light. Something is coming."

The old man didn't move, but his voice eventually spoke up a moment later.

"There is nothing to be afraid of, young one."

The light broke through the foliage, and the tension vanished. As it was only Gorrok, carrying a makeshift torch he’d fashioned while foraging. He dumped a heavy log near the fire with a dull thud and sat down, glancing suspiciously between the silent Prophet and the wide-eyed Cookie. Without a word, he leaned back against a tree root, and then closing his eyes to sleep for the remainder of the night.

The trio awoke to the pale morning light filtering through the canopy and resumed their trek. Hours bled together in a twisting maze of vines and ancient trunks. The Prophet remained a frustrating guide, stopping every few miles to pray, his eyes rolling back as he envisioned the invisible path.

Gorrok’s patience was fraying. Each time the old man halted, the orc’s heavy footsteps landed sharply, angry by each stop. Finally, he snapped. "Where are we? How do you even know where you’re going in this green hell?" he roared, his voice echoing through the trees.

"Gorrok, stop it!" Cookie scolded, her voice sharp with a protective edge he hadn't heard before. "Trust him! I do."

Gorrok let out a low, guttural grumble of frustration. He threw his hands up and retreated to the rear of the party, his heavy boots thumping against the earth as he fumed. As usual, the Prophet paid the outburst no mind; he simply stood, adjusted his tattered robes, and kept walking.

A few miles later, the foliage of the jungle suddenly broke. The density gave way to a staggering sight: a massive, bottomless crevasse that sliced through the earth like a jagged wound. It was a terrifying drop-deep enough to kill anything that fell and far too wide to jump.

Without a word, the Prophet began walking parallel to the abyss, his eyes fixed on the horizon. He led them along the crumbling edge until they reached it: a narrow, swaying rope bridge that looked nearly as old as the jungle itself.

Gorrok led the way with a selfish, thundering sprint. He made it across easily, but his heavy footfalls left the bridge groaning, the fibers of the main support rope fraying under the unseen strain. Cookie followed, her lighter steps sparing the bridge. Mid-way, she spotted a tangled satchel snagged in the ropes and wooden boards. With a nimble reach, she snatched the bag before scurrying to safety.

Then came Cosmo. He moved with steady caution, unaware that the bridge was at its limits. As he neared the edge, the overstressed rope finally surrendered with a sound like a pistol shot. The world fell away. Cosmo lunged for the far ledge, fingers brushing stone as he plummeted, but by sheer luck or maybe even grace, his hand clamped around the hilt of a lone dagger buried deep in the crevasse wall. He hung there, dangling over the bottomless valley by a single handle of steel, until Gorrok’s massive hand reached down to undo the damage his ego had caused. Pulling Cosmo up to safety and retrieving the dagger from the crevasse face, then handing it to Cosmo.

Following the bridge incident, the trio pushed deeper into the green void, still guided only by Cosmo's fractured visions. Gorrok, humbled by his near-fatal ego, now walked with a newfound quietness, his eyes frequently drifting to the old prophet with a respect that bordered on reverence. Even Cookie, usually preoccupied with her latest find, noticed the shift. The jagged edges of their group were finally beginning to fit together.

But the peace was a thin veil. While Gorrok and Cookie enjoyed the steady pace, Cosmo felt the atmosphere thicken like a storm on the horizon. He came to a sudden halt, his voice a low rasp: "He is here."

"Who is here?" Cookie asked, as she stepped back toward Gorrok.

Cosmo didn't answer. He sank to the damp earth, eyes fluttering shut as he slipped into a desperate, focused prayer.

"Ready yourself, Cookie," Gorrok rumbled, his nostrils flaring as he caught a familiar scent on the wind.

From the dense foliage emerged a tiny figure; it was that devilish Gnome, clutching a flute of aged bamboo. He raised the instrument to his lips and unleashed a shrill, a piercing trill that seemed to shatter awaken the jungle. The canopy erupted; birds screeched in unisonin and the very ground began to shake.

"We haven't much time," Cosmo snapped, his eyes flying open as he surged to his feet. "Run!"

Gorrok and Cookie stared in momentary shock as the old man bolted with a speed that defied what they had known. They scrambled after him, but the jungle was already closing in. Behind them, something massive began to thrash through the undergrowth, the sound of splintering timber drawing closer with every heartbeat.

They reached the edge of a looming cliff face, a dead end of sheer stone and dizzying heights. Pinned against the rock face, they turned just as the predator made its entrance.

The creature didn't merely arrive; it launched itself from the treeline, landing with a bone-shaking stomp that sunk the ground. It was a slobbering grotesque giant, a mountain of scarred flesh and mindless hunger, wielding an rather large axe. It let out a roar that vibrated in their very chests before lowering its shoulder and charging.
