The Emperor's very own Angels. There's the 9 best known ones, the 20 or so somewhat heard about ones and then there's the rest. And you soon will become one yourself. Still a 12 year old boy you were selected to become a neophyte. The first choice you make is not really your own, but that of fate.Pick one of 4 Space Marine Chapters to be part of. This choice stays unchanged for the whole Quest. Pick 1:> Nanoq Claws> The Pride> The Eyes in the Trees> LancebearersThe rules are standard. Write in the choice you want and the majority voted choice wins. I will try to update the Quest 1-2 times per day, if there's enough response for a clear winning opinion.(all chapters have been randomly generated using a rolling table)

A wayward's son's inheritance is brought back. The Pride has suffered greatley. The portracted war against the Hive Splinter Inferialis Magna has left the chapter near decimated with not even two full companies of marines left the Chapter has spent over decade staring extinction into the face while continuing to fight battles one would reasonably avoid in such situation. However the cards have offered a good fortune and the fortune came true. A delivery of large swaths of geneseed from the Mechanicum. Not just from their own gene-vaults but also a donation from the progenitor chapter. Their lineage once thought lost has somehow resurfaced from the deep sea of much which is the imperial administration. A letter of gratitude dry as can be is sent, out, but the news thought to be joyous are not widely announced.Over 600 samples of geneseed an overwhealming amount, enough to restore the chapter and pave it's future. However also an overwhealming amount. Young ambitious marines will outnumber the oldguard 4:1. >>6409808I think you mistook >>6409789for me, that's a different anon. He just +1 my choices. So the name Alcriminus got 3 votes in total, actually
>>640980871 - Inverted Astropath34 - The Daemon87 - Inverted BlindseerThe lot of a neophyte is not easy. A mixture of constant medical procedures and strict training. For off-worlders liek you lessons in imperial lore are minimal. You know where you are, the Helix Nebula in the Ultima Segmentum. The entire subsector has been ravaged by tyranids and the T'au have advanced into the region taking adventage of reduced imperial presence.Still you need to learn the history of the chapter, etiquette when dealing with imperial nobiltiy and the handling of machine spirits. The classes your kin spend most time on is survival training. You often descend into the fridgid wastes of Tygris. You learn to identify herbs, track animals and survive in the wild. These excursions take weeks at a time. Leading you is Brother Januarius and Brother Apothecary Solarius. Where Januarius teaches you the local variant of low gothic and knowlege of survival Solarius is only there to perform the necessary rites to further the transformation into a true marine. It takes months before combat practice begins. Despite being no more than 13 of age you are by now significantly larger than a normal man.It is then when you learn of the main weaknesses of the chapter. A lack of Bechler's Gland, Mucranoid and Ootic Kidney. Leaves the warriors of your chapter exceptionally fragile to certain pathogens other chapters deal easily with. Your skin and hair are fated to turn completely white leaving you more vulnerable to light than even common mortals, while a lack of ootic kidney leaves your bretheren no better at handling poisons than common mortals. This makes training include training in neutralizing toxins as well as daily injections of various poisons to build up resistance.Slowly you see cliques forming and promising neophytes finding mentors in the few marines who remain on Tygris (less than 50)Choice 1: Specialization - You need to decide what kind of marine you will eventually becomeHigher professions like the Librarius or Apothecarium remain out of reach. The chapter focuses on melee combat.> Sword> Spear> Axe> Mounted/Mobile assault> Sandard BearerChoice 2 - Voices in the Deep SnowYou have begun hearing voices echoing from deep snow in your expeditions down into the world.> ignore it> investigate directly (go there and talk to them)> report to your superiors> investigate studiously (take notes, try to classify what they say)The Tyranids move like weather. Currently they seem to be engaged in battle with the T'au, but also a set of human worlds. Ones where the PDS seems to have managed to stalemate the tyranids. They are asking for aid. The chapter is cautious to intervene in a time as sensitive as it is right now. The calls for distress however keep comming the Red Dragoons Regiment leadership and the local branch of the Order of the Bloody Rose are conteplating landing aid locally. They have not requested aid from the chapter.(grand metting)

Rolled 100, 76, 39 = 215 (3d112)>>6409887>>6409876The chapter is effectively spawning 6 companies in in one generation and also due to how proud they are in their colors they just have more Standard Bearers than the Codex astartes prescribes. (they also use them ot help rally mortal troops which they work with, and have a higher than usual mortality)3 votes for Mounted/Mobile assault, but 4 for Standard Bearer.Simmilarly 3 votes for reporting it and 4 for a studious investigation.---------Alcriminus chose the most ambitious path for the up and comming generation of the Pride Chapter.A standard bearer. To become a standard bearer within the Pride one must display exceptional purity of spirit. In a chapter who value shock and awe you study to be the pillar of the 'ave'.You manage to find a mentor in Veteran Brother Aurelius. You notice in aurelius that he is heavily augmented. More metal than flesh at this point, one could mistake him for a Son of Medusa with that kind of apperance. You soon learn in training why that is the case.Standard bearer's carry two roles. One is to carry the banner at the frong of a formation charge and the other is to plant it firmly in the ground when ground is declared as the staging ground of a battle one may not retreat from.In a charge the standardbearer may not let his arm shake, he may not retreat even cautiously and he may not doge carelessly. His role is that of a symbol. In a defensive battle he has to be like an umoving oak, one that does not show his back to the enemy even when surrounded.Trainign for a standard bearer thus includes endurance training. Battlefield awareness, toughness excercizes and the ability to doge by picking areas you want to be hit as opposed to doing so through larger movements.> Give me 2 1d100 rolls (best by 2 different players) for how well Alcriminus does in training as a 'speartip' and 'anker' Standard Bearer.-----------------The investigation:You can distinguish at minimum 2 types of voices. However more than a dozen people. As you carefully note everything you hear. You notice there are three things the snow tells you.> things that offer you rewards - strength power, presitege, knowlege,> things that beg, those that seem to plead for your help> those that are lost - thingds that mutter incoherently. The things that wish to offer you things appear to mimick the things that beg and that are lost. Bizzarely enough. Your investigation however ends quite abruptly. The voices are gone. One day.Choice 1: What do you do about the voices?> Investigate more agressively - they may be gone, but now you could investigate the side of disaperance> Talk to your field training supervisor Januarius > Talk to your mentor Brother Aurelius> talk to the Chaplain - (tarot divination)> attempt to perform Tarot divination yourself regarding the issue

>>6409948Next turn's tarot:100 - Fortress of Faith76 - The Labyrinthine Path39 - Inverted galaxyThe 3 allied factions of the region meet up to discuss the distress calls from the worlds fighting the Tyranids. The situation seems suspiscious. For one the reason they can even send distress signals out is due to a series of warp storms dispersing the tyranid fleet leaving ground troops fighting isolated. Coudl this explain how a PDF regiment alone is holding out?The Sister's of Battle belive it is a blessing from the Emperor. News also reach them of a PDF soldier who has used a chain sword to cut down over a hundred tyranids all by himself before dying. Without approval the locals have begun treatim him as a Saint and the Local Order of the bloody rose seem convinced. The Red Dragoon'r leadership seems ethnusiastic to send some soldiers to in the very least test what is happening. The Chapter Master of the Pride however is cautious. The fortunes predict deception and a false call from the warp. In less perilous times he would have volounteered to send a company wof Astartes with his mortal allies to investigate the situation however. For now he's keeping out of it:> Choice 2: Still some childishness remainsSome fellow neophytesinvite you in confidence to evesdrop on the deliberations of the Allied council to find you the details of what exactly is beind discussed and planned.

I now write "Choice X" to make sure it's something to be voted for. Also the 2nd choice got basically shapted so I'll county it as 'no'> You do above average in both aspects of Standard Bearer pratice. Not exceptionally well, but above average.Your visit to the Chaplin goes a bit different than expected. Once you present your findings the cards are put away and he takes off his helmet. Signaling the matter will not be that of ceremony but that of a personal discussion."What you experienced is one of the great gidfts of our geneseed which is uniquely beloved by the strands of fate. It is as much a burden as it is a gift as such it has to be handled with wisdom and care."He takes out the file on your introduction to the chapter"I see those whose spirits are filled with compassion tend to take well to the gift of Ghostsight. What you have heard were lingering spirits of the dead. Echos of the deceased of the warp in the material plane. Some hollowed out acting as conduits for the dark powers to subtly whisper unheard, but felt influence. Others robbed of their senses rendered insane and those whose death was young crying out for aid. As you may have noticed the gap between Chaplain and Librarian is blurry within our chapter. The gift of truly reading the Imperial Tarot is what most think is the reason, but the deeper reason is out gift of spirit sight. This proves that you are a true son of the chapter (you feel the Chaplain may be hiting at disaproval of something in your generation)You should develop your gift further. Your standard bearer training will continue as is however your survival training will happen on the side as you accompany Brother Librarian Clement. Do not talk to the voices on your own, taking notes as you did is permited."Choice 1Do you wish to learn more about the coments regarding blessed geneseed and the hit of disaproval you felt?> Yes, ask directly> No, don't mention it> Don't mention it, but investigate is yourself. [requires tailing the Chaplain](need a 1d100 roll to see how well it goes)Choice 2 - the reassignment. You are still well within the range of average, but a hard chpoice needs to be made:Choice 3:> master of the Banner - push your investigation of the supernatural to the back, focus on training> master the eye - focus on spiritual matters - tis will keep your standard bearer ranking at average> push yourself - try to master both - this leads to no free time for other things at the timeYou learn that the chapter has decided to send minor support to the human worlds asking for aid. 10 Battlebrothers and 50 neophytes. The way the neophytes have been chosen seems quite arbitrary, but the boys who previously invited you are among them.As you spend more time in the chapter you notice that despite the numbers being so low the chapter seems less united than you previously thought. The mood is quite sour. Some of the neophytes appear to have formed their own faction around a Neophyte names Tiberius. This is secret from the Space Marines, but him and around 20 lackeys appear to sneak out to the planetary surface at night.

How well their sanity is perserved and if they have begun to turn into a chaos conduit. Most surprisingly you begin to meet with local shamans. It appears there's good reason the chapter has set up on Tigris. The local people have a good grasp of spirtuality. They may not practice the Tarot, but have their own form of divining the future. Bones are thrown into the fire and the cracks that appear in the flames help ivine the future. You notice that the crack patterns in the bone are reflected in the stellar constellations which underlay the designs on the 56 cards of the the Pride Chater's variant of the imperial tarot. The locals furthermore appear to posess concoctions made from local herbs which make you able to percieve ghosts more clearly. These experiences have made you feel somehow out of place as an off-worlder.Your training has progressed well. And you are permitted to go on minor ghost-exorcism assignments around the planet on your own by now.______________YOu push your self to the limit in training it's hard but fulfilling you reach above-average results in all your fields of study. You do not know if the other disciples of the path of the spirit-watcher, but the champion you look towards as the master Standard Bearer is Brother Neophyre Simeon. It's like the Emperor's own dignity is present when he plants his banner. A level of skill to truly aspire to.

When there were just tyranids, then their entire might was directed at the imperium's forces. However now as the region contains Chaos Secessionists, and T'au opportunists also. This has turned the situation stable. In more worrying news however chaos-cooperators have been caugth on the local forgeworld. Swiftly without managing to take hold, but the news of the event reached the wider imperium. The majority of the Red Dragoons Regiment will be executed and the rest reassigned to Macabian Janissary troops assigned from outside the sector. A Inquisitorial retinue will furthermore conduct investigations among the local loyalist worlds, within the branch of the order of the Bloody rose and within our chapter.Furthermore a killteam from the Death Watch will be temporarily assigned to our chapter to 'organize our tactics' against xenos incursions. It appears a storm is brewing. Rolled 49, 29, 53 = 131 (3d112)> The Avalance > get to knwo returning Chapter EliteYou make your way to the site f the avalanche. There is many wayward souls there. Most of them unaware they are dead at all. Their bodies burried deep in snow need to first be exhumed and burried in the solid soil so they don't rot in the short spring when the snows melt. It's a few hours of work to burry the bodies. Above the each grave a fire is lit (not the fires burn on fur+blubber not wood) and into it the femur of a Haxim is thrown (a local type of deer that can walk on four or on 2 legs, thus they have quite large hip bones)The fortunes however are not read. Only the dead may glance upon what fortune awaits them in the afterlife. The locals find solace in propper burial rituals and seeing their bodies makes them realize their own death. Only children struggle with moving on. It's not a nice process, but they have to be exorcized by force otherwise growing insane or becoming a chaos conduit is the only fate that awaits them.It is a hard time for you. Your emotions have been dulled however you remember how tyranids befell your world. Slaughtered near everyone on you knew and turned your world into xenos infested wasteland. You are grateful to the Chapter for helping save you and many of your kin. You know there wasn't time, however a bitter feeling grips your chest. Do a billion lost souls still wander the surface? or worse does the vile nid menace consume them too? In your old life you were a follower of the Imperial Cult, not a faith whose deep secrets you ever learned. You hope however that the Emperor would provide solace in death and a place by his side for all his faithful servants even if you have to show them the way first.Choice 1: A grim conviction> A lantern on your banner - attach a lantern on your banner. May it's glow lead the fallen to the Emperor's side> A return home - steel yourself to one day retake your homeworld and bring rest to the souls who reside there> The Emperor Protects - find solace in the imperial truth, begin preeching the imperial truth on the world. May the light of the Emperor guide he lost souls more securely than the cracking of bones> Path of the Bearer of Souls - a path of compassion and sacrifice. Mix things around, with some mundanity. Neophytes do need to learn to work together, and training includes that as well. Our best bet would be to call the rest of the chapter, even if there are likely traitors at the Chapter Citadel, too. We are not surviving on our own, and all 20 neophytes likely work better together than we do on our own. If I were a traitor, I would probably abuse the chapter's gene-seed defects of being weak to poisons. Taking out an Apothecary is perfect for that, if they also eliminated the mortals providing foodstuff and poisoned it during the return of the chapter elite, it's an almost foolproof plan providing a clean slate.

>>6411331I'll keep that in mind. I mostly didn't want to make the posts too long.As for equipment. Mostly things related to wilderness survival in the cold. He'd for sure have a shovel and a sword. So he is better equipped than them
>>6411331I'll back this. There is a Blackwatch squad at home and Inquisitors sniffing around. We know there are traitors so we might wanna take our chances with either of those two instead or the Chaplain or mentor whom we know are clean. Really, it depends on whoever we stumble upon first. On a somewhat unrelated note I'm pretty sure our geneseed sire likely belongs to the Thousand Son loyalists who had the geneseed tampered with to be more stable.
>>6411331+1 to all but I wanna suggest some offensive tactics>If we get cover or they lose sight of us as we run, we can ambush and at least take them by surprise. Not an open battle but try to stab something important or that will slow them down>If they are closing in and we can find a place to fight, get into a zone with lots of trees. We can just shove them around against the trees and them as we keep running

>>6411331>>6411474To lead the dead to the afterlife. That shall become your mission going forward. Taking down a veteran marine is no easy task even in a ciwardly ambush and with a numbers adventage.Your rush through a road dug in the deep snow by the natives. Your shovel in in one arm and blade in the other cutting the sides of the walls of puffy snow on either side of you. This blinds and slow the pursuit behind you however there is those who took the path above to and fought their way through the deep snow to emerge through the wall in front of you. You have ended up in the worst possible situation, surrounded. Their near pinkish blood was tinting the snow. Something stings. Burn all the ones you have at once forcing everyone to flee the tunnel (note that the fire will make your location known to everyone)Choice 2: A second focus (also 1d100 roll please) - you have a few spare seconds to try another thing> tend to the weird wound> aid of the ghosts - call out to dead so some mayb aid you by informing brother Psycher Augustus of oyur plight> psyonic beacon - try to harness your psyonic powers into a beacon. Someone is sure to notice, hopefully an ally from the chapter> get to the corpse of the Brother Apothecary - if you are to make it out alive you won't leave his corpse to rot in the snow*you may attempot to do 2 'choice 2' things however then the roll for choice 1 recieve -15 to the roll--------------cont.
>>6411878Back in the Chapter Monastery. Neophytes signed up to meet with the Chapter master and Chapter elite. In such turbulent times even an event to know each other would be bookishly skechuled. So it was odd. A star recruit known not just for a wide array of skills, but also for his diligence and hard work has just not shown up. Chapter Master Clement, felt mild annoyance at this. And ordered disciplinary action for the late arrival. However Neophyte Alcrimus did not arrive at all.Brother Chaplain Klesius Sancrimi (Chaplian you talked to before), seemed suspiscious. A lot of other neophytes were missing, though all the other missing neophytes were average or below average and did not sign up to any official meeting (not usnual most neophytes didn't hoping most to get to talk to the Death Watch).Other members of the chapter such as Psycher Brother Augustus and Standard Bearer instructor Veteran Brother Aurelius also noticed the absence. The two met up and confirmed that you had been sent out on a mission and headed out to perform your duties at an avalanche site. Both were worried, however as senior members of the chapter were expected the attent the soon to start meeting. One was expected to not 'baby' neophytes, however the loss of a promising recruit due to negligence would be a waste. They woul talk in private to the Sister Canoness of the local Branch of the order of the bloody rose and a team of lower ranking sisters with the help of a chater serf from thep lanet would organize a search party. The situation was intended to be kept on the low of course. It was ineivietable the inquisition noticed. The suspiscious movements, and whispered conversations were not just from chapter-chrothers worried about you, but also for the other recruits - though they were expected to the in the Citadel as such only serfs were instructed to look for them and to check their cells. The situation would not come to a boil until the meeting had started. Brother Apothecary Solarius was missing. No one questions where a marine is until it's time for him to be present. It is however extremely bizzare when he neglects his duties and is missing. His quarters would be empty, however the medical bay where neophytes are inspected daily would be a mess. Three dead neophytes on the floor, a room cvered in blood. Corpses of the dead neophytes: a clear case of early transformation into a Genestealer. The news would first reach the Chapter Master., his face in anguish. An embarassment before the wider imperium. Soon the whole story would be discussed, and clues confirmed.Help will arrive if you hold out long enough. However this means that the traitor neophytes have allies on this planet.

Especially one that is under cross discipline training under two veteran space marines, no less. By all considerations, we should be one of the most highly valued and closely monitored recruits they have. I wouldn't be surprised if they surgically slipped a tracker inside us for obvious reasons. Hell, even trained psykers are still monitored closely. The only ones who get any kind of breathing room are Inquisitors. Even Space Marine Chaplains are surrounded by veterans who keep a close eye on them. A missing psyker would have a very poor reaction especially one undergoing space marine training. Least of all when Death Watch and Inquisitors are present. Missing psykers are always nightmare fuel for an inquisitor.
Rolled 96, 97, 36 = 229 (3d112)>>6411936Rolls: 72 and 74(when there is more rolls than necessary I will count the first roll from each unique player)> Below the curtain of white> get to the corpse of the brother apothecaryYou throw yourself to the side like a fox or mole digging into the snow with those tyring to follow you quickly purried under the thick snow. The snow fall is becoming heavier their voices echo as they call out to each other, but you see their ever dimming souls. You make your way to brother Apothecary Solarius as you silence foice after voice. No soul left in the body of the dead after their life is extinguished. You get to the body and begin to drag it crawling through the snow. You do as you have been taught "When you can't run, walk, when you can't walk crawl, but no matter what happens do not stop moving forward."You becoem increasingly exhausted. Dragging a space marine, fighting off atatckers, trudging through the snow in the dark after a full day of work. Your half-astartes physique and standard bearer ethos are what keeps yoru body moving. You drag yourself half conscious toward the chapter monastery. You briefly feel a familiar hand touch your choulder before you pass out. You wake up your vision is blurry. You are in the hands of a woman, around you a cricle of torches. You pass out again. You are wringling in agony, something is gnawing at the very essence of your being. You pass out once more and wake up in the medical bay. The in it is still being lceaned by servitors. You are still half awake however the Canoness, Chapter Master and Inquisitor tower over you interogating you one after another before eventually leaving. You don't remember sustaining any major injuries, but it's clear some kind of surgary had been performed on you. Your arm has been near shredded and put back together. You have a fresh wound gojn g all the way to your stomach and it branches to your chest like like branches on a tree. Recovery is going to take time, but you sruvived. >>6412118should is the key word here. >>641256596 - The young warrior - new talent for a promsing future97 - Inverted Dishonored Scion - honor is restored through sacrifice36 - the Hulk Through investigation you soon learn about the genestealer infestation on the planet and the battle between the genestealers of the Silen Village and the sisters-of-battle reque party.Turns out the planet had been infected by genestealers who hid among the merchant vessels which recently arrived in the system. Said vessels were contracted by the Administratum. Chapter Master Clement made great use of this to shift responsibility. The yelling match between him and the Inquisitor was loud enough to be heard across the entire Citadel. All ships have been barred from leaving the system. The Chapter has been barred from any deployment outside the system for until the current generation of neophytes is promoted to Space Marines to prevent further incidents caused by insufficent oversight over neophytes. The top 100 neophytes would see their first deployment alongside the chapter elite and Death Watch dispatch to clear out the genstealer infestations in orbit and on the planet. You are hailed as a great hero, but still feel bitter to be left behind with the less talented recruits. You'reu nable to train trapped in the medical bay, and in constant pain.Choice 1: What do you focus on now?> physical recovery - try to get your physical prowace back> psychic recovery - try to get your mind in order and psychic powrrs to act properly again> scholarly pursuit - read books, learn history. Shown great aptitude as a potentail tech-marine, due to affinity with machine spirits. Further training with the mechanicus already skechuled. You on the other hand? You get to talk wth the other neophytes. Some of them feel dopey, making you ask how they even became neophytes like Brother Bekinos - he is always joking around and is quite clumsy. He does appear to have quite amazing knife fighting skills.
>>6412573You think he may be hiding his skills. He never looks where he strikes and every step he takes looks like he;s about to fall over, but he never does. Then there is brother Garo, he comes by at times to ask you tips about spirit sight. You know now of a few other recruits with the same gift as you, his seems quite weak. He can hear the spirits, but only when he's closeby them and he can never see them. You wonder if training can help him at all. Then there is Brother Titus who comes by nearly every day to hear about how you fought the traitors. He seems to focus on the sword as his pat of choice and seems to enjoy fighting. Each time he visits he reminds of that you will spar once you are healthy, you find him annoying, but he always brings brother neophyte Brutus and brutus always brings sausages and steak. Who knew they' let a neophyte get this Rotund. Brutus is a local, a skilled hunter, he sneaks out to hunt and prepares sausages an smoked meat in his free time. His apperance reminds him of the chapter master, but you probably should not say so aloud.

> Psychic recoveryYou focus on purging your mind of foreign influence and to conzentrate on the room in the citadel where voices of the dead come from. It feels like you are dixing a broking antena while also tuning it's possition to the right frequency. With thios conscious trainining maybe due to your close brush with death a new ability begins to manifest. Astral projection. You become able to briefly leave your body as a soul in this state you can hear and see, but your other senses are sealed. It is ab ability to be carefully used as your hearts and metabolic functions appear to stop when you do it, rendering you temporarily dead... maybe some kind of mechanical augmentation could help here? There are side effects however. You keep hearing one more voice than usual as if on another frequency. It sounds like nails on a chalkboard or a drill being drilled right into your ear. It's clear there is a message behind it and it's all-present, however it's as if you don't speak the language:Choice 1: The voice> block out the new voice - it's clearly no good, get rid of it> try to understand it - maybe there is some sort of tactical merit to it> consult your superiors first before taking any action> just lie with it, you have more pressing conzerns to worry about (more free time)Eventually comes the time of your meeting with the chapter master. More than a month has passed since and your rehabilitation has been progressing steadily. Through your recovery you have begun taking on characteristic features of the chapter as your skin and hair began to whiten and your eyes tured a vibrant blue. The chapter master arrives he has the demeanor of a gransfather. he's surprisingly easygoing with a long beard the pauldron of his power armor is replaced with a particularly large ork skull and to it is attached an ork spirit which constantly talks about various stuff. You opt to not pay attention to it for now and ask the questions you had prepared and pondered for weeks now:"Different times call for different things. In my youth the chapter was doing quite well so we were encouraged to learn a varried amount of things. Personal excellence often took prescedent over needs of the chapter. It was a different time, we had just won a Crusade and reclaimed an artiffact of the great Crusade from vile chaos traitors - he points to his spear. (You;d have learned about it, the spear of Night and Day an ancient Power spear said to have been altered by Malcador the Sygilite to be especially useful against psychers and blanks or nulls.)Now the situation is different. We want many marines and we want them deployed quickly so specializing on one thing is better. Hmm, but really that is only needed for the average and the reasonable. I heard you are quite the workacholic so you did your propper duty training both as a Standard Bearer and a Spiritseer. I guess that is the privilige of having talent.
Rolled 3, 33, 110 = 146 (3d112)Talent is wasted on obsessivep ursuit of one thing, the higher on a hill you climb the harder is the next step.Maybe I have been rambling bit too much. This answer may dissapoint you, but I have to say that I don't know. This is not the path of our chapter anyway. Decide what you want to do and when you have doubts about the path you have chosen find yourself what you really want and when you know it we'll help you reach your goal. This is the Pride brother neophyte. You need to be a bit arrogant, chase the goal you have set yourself and prove it's the right one. Prove it's so magnificent others will wish to follow your ways to fulfil their own ambition.(The ghostly ork chimes in ,his voice also feels like a different fequency: The old wants to sound wise, but he does not think much, He's not smart like me. He just likez to swing his choppa 'n stabba. I do da cunning. I am da cunnin.)> 2nd questionThe Chapter master thinks for a bit. "Right, the extent of Spiritsight varries a lot, I guess you have been hearing Gruthnatz ramble on.the answer is that is varries a lot by individual. Spirit sight is quite common in our chapter 1 in 20 marines has some degree of it. Most just hear a whisper once in a while. We know it is tied to psyonics as all psychers of our chapter have it. I am not a psycher however. I can't mould flesh or summon lightning, but I hear the spirits well. Our history is quite ancient so it's lot whether or not the ability is a later ability or was there from the start. It's to be soon announced anyway so may as well say it now. Our founding chapter records have been recently found and it appears to be the Raven Guard. Right? You'd never guess that Corvus Corax is our genefather, I myself have doubts. We are deliberating contacting the ravenguard in regards to details regarding spiritsight, but care is necessary as it could be classified as an irregular mutation and we have the inquisition snooping around as is.Play around with your powers neophyte. That's how they get stronger. You've shown your spirit to be planty strong so the discordant voices shouldn't get you.> third questionHe gives you a wry smile. I enjoyed this coversation so I don't want to give you a halfbaked answer.Recover a bit more and we'll have a sparring session and I will tell you then. (the Ork spirit is laughing and screaming something about Grott stomping)Your recovery continues and you mostly regaind your strength. The last few months you have been making friends in the chapter and preparing fr your sparring match with the chapter master. As a Standard Bearer it'll be simmilar to a training excercize where your goal is to protect the standard against him. it will not be a public match. You are still far from being a full space marine, but you have been designated the leader of your own squad of Scouts. Your mission: map out a genestealer infested space hulk then support your space marine brothers as they clear it out.
>>6413412Choice 2: > You may pick 5 scouts for your squad:You may pick them from the list of named neophytes or you can list personality traits or characteristics you'd want to look for in a teammate:Bekinos — Clumsy/joking but skilled knife fighter; seems to hide competence.Garo — Weak Spiritsight (hears but rarely sees ghosts); seeks advice from Alcriminus.Titus — Sword-focused, eager fighter; pesters Alcriminus for spars; brings food via Brutus.Brutus — Rotund local hunter; sneaks out to make sausages/smoked meat; physically reminds others of the Chapter Master.Kalum — Tigris native; expert tracker using blood traces; helped capture Tiberius.Cecil Ceril — High combat aptitude; potential Techmarine with machine-spirit affinity; training with Mechanicus planned.or write in.Choice 3: How will you fight the chapter master?Describe the tactics and and preparation you take to put up a good fight.> information - learn about the chapter master's fighting style. try to 'counter' him> skill - perfect your swordsmanship, doging, and grappling. Try a strightoforward approach> stall - learn to doge, tank hits and to become unmovable. Delay taking the flag, dismiss the possibility of it not being taken> mad dog - try to fight dirty like a pulgist or streat brawler. Lay traps in the arena and prepare poisons>TAROT> The Inverted God-Emperor - Chaos corruption spreads> Inverted Deamon - a demon is banished and chaos advance is halted> The executioner - justive is brought to a hereticThe front beyond your homse system has turned more and more into a war against chaos as the tyranids stangnated. The rise of a Demon Prince of Khorne lead to a large shift in the dynamics of the war, yet yoru chapter remained barred from interfering. The sisters of the order of the Bloody Rose and Death watch managed to execute the entity and return balance to the 4 pronged war. (that's the official story at least)Emissaries from the T'au empire also have arrived asking for a temporary truce to deal with the more imminent threats of the tyrannids and chaos. Your chapter feels sidelined from the politics of the subsector it has been singlenadedly guarding for millenia. A bitter medicine to swallow, but raising the next generation of neophytes properly and purging their homesystem of genestealers and tyrannid infested hulks takes precedent and is the right couse of actions... tactically...

Rolled 106, 111, 80 = 297 (3d112)Without any write in's the choices seem quite limited. The team is assembled: Bekinos, Brutus, Cecil Ceril, Kalum, Titus> Consult supperiorsBrother Chaplain Klesius Sancrimi and Brother Librarian Augustus both come to aid you with your troubles. First investigatiing what is actually happening was necessary.Neither of them could hear any of the voices you did so they first chose to investigate what you were hearing. An unpleasant experience but you were locked into a cage for the night. It was covered in warding bonds and holy symbols. Usually these kinds of cages would be used to transport cultists for interrogation or demonic artiffacts. However for the first time in a while no voice could be heard at all. Maybe you were cured? The discordant voice was getting quiter. As you got out the voice returned. A worrisome outcome, it was not a flaw of your mind. You were hearing something, potentially a demon or have become to attuned to Spirit sight you perpetually heard the cries of the warp across realities.Soon all threee of you wandered to another cage and slowly unlocked it. In it the decapitated head of a demon prince a trophy from the Sister's of Battle. All three of you could hear the madd khornate shieking still echoing from the skull, but that was not it... "It was more akin to the Ork spirit of the Chapter master, but as if even further from humanity."A thought occured to the two investigators. A few days later you left with them on a walk far outside the chapter citadel though the cold snow. There lay a chained genestealer with it's limbs, cut off. The bizzare sound became unbearably loud, still obly you heard it. They crushed the vile xenos's skull. It had become clear to you what had happened without either of them even saying a word. The genestealer infection you suffered has left it's mark. Your spirit sight has attuned itself against the overasching spirit of the Tyrranid hivemind. Brother Chaplain Klesius Sancrimi stern as ever put his hand on his chainsword, but quickly let go of it. Both teld you to rest for the night, it seems they truly deliberated over the issue."This voice is a wound you will have to live with all your life. We shall trust your spirit to prevail against it's xenos temptation. However at least now it is a gift the chapter requires. We hope you undend what we mean. Your attunement to the rotten soul of all tyranidkind, means you know when there any present. You are the only known method to detect if there are any tyrannids in the vicinity. We need to test the range, if it's a planet, a fraction of one or a whole system. Bear your burden with pride Marin, do not run from it.

Brother Neuphyte Simeon has died on his mission. The space hulk his team have been scouting turned out to be a dormant or maybe only maturing Tyranid bioship. The details are unknown but after the ship awoke to life his killteam became split and contact was lost. 4 of the neophytes from his team survived by escaping to the medical bay. The ship soon eventually crshed on Tygrist-4G, a frozen toxic moon of the 4th planet of the Tygis system. The two neophytes on-board were pronounced dead. Logs from their equipment reveal Brother Simeon fighting his way to the controlls of one of the mechanical ships lodged into the space hunk and piloting it in a tug of war against the growing organic engines to force the ship to crash.Space marines with an intact Mucranoid may have survived this ordeal in hibernation. He died a hero and small parade us held to commemorate his bravery and he is posthumously to be considered a full Space marine not neophyte. His sacrifice spurred on the hearts of the people, imperial nobility in the sector has donated money to create a Guard Regiment in his name a generous donation just for the rights for the story of what happened. The "Simeon Exterminators" will be created, and specialized in biological and ultra-long-range warfare as a specialized anti-tryannid formation of the Astra Militarum. In the Citadel you stand ready to face the Chapter master.Your tactic of stalling is safe. It's not the incorrect approach, you come out bruised and barely able to stand. The chapter master seems a bit disapointed but as promised offers you advice on your training:"You have a strong body, and are over-reliant on it. You have a strong spirit and are overeliant on it and you have a good mind and realy on that too much again. There are deapths of power one cannot access when playing it safe and when doing what is logical and reliable. Admittedly that is also hard to train alone.I know you could do better. You took down near a dozen of other neophytes alone in the snows. You did not fight me like you fought those boys. I feel like I was underastimated. Even when playing defensively you need to harness that predator energy you did back then. Then you can awaken and truly rise above your peers."The time came. There were still many derelict ships potential.speeper-bioships and space hulks dormant in the system. You and you team are cautious. These missions were routine, nearly as safe as training before but with what happened with Simeon, you know you may encounter an enemy beyond what you can handle in the void of space:Choice 1: Scouting approach> explore the space hulk slowly from the inside avoid enemy sighting. Map it out and contact the chapter
>>6414176> citrcling - circle the hulk from the outside, do careful scanning before you go in (if something smart is inside higher chance to see you comming)> fighting exploration - lure and kill any enemies you encounter. Clearing out the ship makes chance of being surrounded less, but detection higehr, also is slower> servitor assitance - bring along servitors to survey faster however if lsian their biomass will increase enemy power and numbersChoice 2: Personal preparations - how do you prepare for your mission?> train in combat> train in stealth> metal heart - get a 3rd heart to pump your blood while you spirit walk to scout> hive-sense - train your psirit sight in context of your attunemenjt to the hive-soul to wield it more precisely> team traing - train teamwork

When you talk in private you find out that bekinos used to be nearly blind and club footed before signing up for the chapter. He used to be a pit fighting slave. >>6415255I'll back this. I was tempted to do treasure hunt but I don't wanna worry about hidden chaos corruption and there are so few marines left in the chapter its not like we have to worry about not getting good shit. The space marines are already gonna be topped up on whatever the Chapter has within the overstuffed armoury anyway...

The leader is slain. From his corpse a crown made of hitin and gold is retrived - well more like chitin grew aroiund it than anything else. The mission was sucessful. Nothing attention-grabbing, but time passes and soon you will be a full brother of the chapter. The system has been cleared and the ceremony of ascenssion to full astartes is right around the corner. You have a few months to brood and bide your time what do you wish to do in that time?once your ascenbssion comences.. your chapter will ride out into the stars on a crusade once moreChoices~up to 2 viable> serve the planet - help guide the souls to the afterlife, aid the locals> aid the system - help in scrapping and salvaging the remaining space hulks> build a team - coalesce your tem of 6 into a propper kill team. become inseparravle> psyonic excellence - try to expand your psychic powers maybe you can become a real psycher (requires D100 roll)> train to become a real bannerman> bane of the nid - specifically train your anti-nid abiltities> the flesh is weak - get a 3rd iron heart (upgrades spirit walking) learn to commune with machine spirits> secrets of the chapter - rise within the chapter socially, gain access to the inner sanctum> galactic ties - establish ties with the inquissitionChoice 2: Crusade> educator - educate the next generation of neophytes> warriors - fight against a foe in the crusade (chaos, nids, t'au)> mediator - go as an envoy to mediate with 'tau> mediator - go with the Death Watch / Inquisition to sniff out genestealer cults and heretics

Mostly because we naturally have to aid the heads but we also have a connection with the nids, and if we get now the machine spirits it's a lot going on.
