when you make burgers with yellow cheese (you know the square cheese slices) are you supposed to add salt to the cheese? because whenever i use that cheese it's always plain and tasteless.same with grilled cheese sandwiches, am i supposed to add salt?what the hell is going on here? why is my shit plain?
Not all cheese is made equal. You're probably using those individually wrapped Great Value american cheese slices. Those are basically just yellow plastic that kinda melts. Upgrading to even just Sargento slices would be a drastic improvement.
I get the American cheese sliced from a log in the deli. It's pretty good. The only thing that should be salted is the meat. I have a special mix of salt, onion powder, msg, and black pepper. Then I wrap in wax paper and let it sit in the warm oven for 20 minutes before eating. It feels like I'm at a premium gourmet McDonald's unwrapping the burgers.Another trick, the McDonald's onion mince that's so good, it's because they are dehydrated onions. You add just barely enough water and the flavor is more concentrated.
>>82437493what kind of burgers are you making? add salt and pepper to the beef regardless. with grilled cheese, toast both sides of the bread with salted butter and then add seasonings to the cheese. you can go with just some salt or pepper, or go further like i do and add salt + cayenne or chili flakes for heat. cheese selection also matters, american cheese is better for burgers than grilled cheese. grilled cheese is best (imo) with cheddar
>>82437553i'm not doing anything fancy, just some frozen patties on a bun, but the cheese is what an anon mentioned, the plastic kind.
