I deleted my Facebook and Twitter accounts a decade ago and I don't regret a single thing. I make friends in real life, and they contact me on my phone. I met my wife in real life. My family sends me invitations and photos of my niblings over text message. I am included in people's lives at their manual choice and discretion, and why would I prefer something else?

I live in an european shithole and here if you don't have instagram people will look at you like you are a freak, and there's something wrong with you. Anyone below 35 not having insta is a red flag immediately. They can maybe get away with it if they have a facebook, but only boomers use it.

90% of people meet using social media. And 10% of people who meet at work, at a bar, or at school, will still use social media to chat, before making the "move" to WhatsApp. that's more intimate in a way and a sign that things are moving forward.

So even if you dont have social media you need social media to chat up with girls and make those connections.

If you've lost the train and want to start a insta in 2025, enjoy your 30 followers account. You'll be the loser, the weirdo as well.

It doesn't help that it's hard to meet up because there's nothing fun to do in the world because positively everything is illegal except stopping at red lights and stuff.
And then there's no third spaces except for giga rich people because everything to do/eat there is marked up 300% to 500% while many people are going into credit card debt to pay their rent.
What was once cool about society is disappearing and being replaced with cramming as many people as possible into smaller and smaller spaces and smaller amounts of money. The money supply is only so big and the more people they add, the more thinly things are spread, so ordinary workers can't have a good time because "gotta pay rent, gotta be frugal, gotta pay taxes so immigrants get more free stuff".
